Anne Sutton asked, “If he really needs a second surgery, what are the chances of success?”

“…”

Anna Linden’s expression darkened, and she didn’t answer.

Anne Sutton said, “I understand. I’ll be going now.”

After leaving the hospital, Anne Sutton didn’t go home.

She went straight to the Linden Group.

Nathan Fawcett was still at the company. He had come over for a meeting that afternoon.

Anne Sutton waited for him at the door.

When he returned from his meeting, he saw Anne Sutton standing by the floor-to-ceiling window outside the conference room.

He walked up to her and asked, “What are you doing here?”

‘She actually came to pick me up from work?’

She rarely showed up at his company.

Even when she needed him for something, she would just call.

When she had free time, she would go anywhere but here. She rarely took the initiative to appear before him.

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, “I happened to be free, so I came to take you home.”

Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett grew a little worried. “Are the test results out?”

Anne Sutton nodded. “Yes.”

Nathan Fawcett asked, “How did they look?”

Her suddenly showing up like this made him wonder about his physical condition.

‘Don’t tell me I only have a few days left to live?’

Anne Sutton said, “Your mother said you should rest well at home lately. Don’t come to the office if you don’t have to, and don’t overexert yourself.”

Upon hearing this, Nathan Fawcett’s face fell. “Am I dying?”

If that weren’t the case, his mother wouldn’t have issued such an order.

Hearing his words, Anne Sutton chuckled. “What, are you scared? Why didn’t you think about this when you were out drinking before?”

He couldn’t even hold his liquor, yet he paid no attention to his own health.

The thought of it made Anne Sutton want to beat him up.

Nathan Fawcett said, “I know I was wrong. So, am I really…?”

He looked a little nervous.

Anne Sutton took his hand and said, “No, don’t worry! It’s not that serious. You just need to rest well. If you recuperate properly and your condition improves, there won’t be any major problems.”

‘But if he doesn’t recuperate well… then that’s another story.’

Nathan Fawcett looked at her. The fact that she had come to pick him up in person made him suspect she was lying to him. “Really?”

His reaction made Anne Sutton laugh. “Really! Why would I lie to you? Don’t be so dramatic. I was just joking with you earlier.”

Nathan Fawcett asked, “Then why did you suddenly show up to get me?”

“Is it wrong for me to come pick you up?” Anne Sutton looked at the man, amused by his antics.

The two of them walked into the elevator. Nathan Fawcett said, “You don’t like being proactive.”

“…” Anne Sutton said, “Since when? I just looked at the medical report, saw everything was fine, and came to check on you. I was worried you’d stay at the office late again.”

“When have I been staying late?” Nathan Fawcett said. “Haven’t I been coming home pretty early every day recently?”

Hearing his words, Anne Sutton’s lips curved into a slight smile. “Is that so?”

Nathan Fawcett said, “Of course.”

They reached the ground floor, and Anne drove him in her own car.

When they returned to the Linden Family home, Anne Sutton had him lie down in bed, then went downstairs to cook for him.

Nathan Fawcett loved her cooking more than anything.

While cooking for him, Anne Sutton added some medicinal herbs to help with his recovery.

Anna Linden said that with his current condition, he could still make a full recovery if he took good care of himself.

But if he didn’t, and some accident happened along the way, then there were no guarantees.

So right now, she didn’t want any such accidents to happen.

She hoped Nathan Fawcett would get better under her care.

‘I’m willing to spend more time on this!’

…

Seeing how dedicated Anne Sutton was, taking such good care of him every day, Nathan Fawcett was fully cooperative.

He had to admit, being taken care of by Anne Sutton was actually quite nice.

Sharon Sutton returned to Westhaven.

Noah Linden had arranged a position for her in the design department.

She had studied design before.

The design department was a perfect fit for her.

As a “parachute hire,” her job was arranged quickly.

After all, she was Anne Sutton’s sister.

…

After completing her onboarding paperwork and settling down in Westhaven, Sharon Sutton moved back into the Sutton Family home.

She was alone here now. Since she wasn’t staying with David Hayes, she naturally stayed at her family home.

The apartment David Hayes had secretly bought for his mother had already been sold because he couldn’t keep up with the mortgage payments.

And the apartment he had bought with Sharon Sutton had been trashed by her.

So now his family could only afford to rent a place.

Mrs. Hayes was washing dishes in a shop, and David Hayes had found a new job, but the pay was very low.

In the afternoon, once Sharon Sutton had finished unpacking, she sent a message to David Hayes, telling him to meet her to finalize the divorce.

Her current marriage to David Hayes was a source of great irritation.

She realized she had been so lovesick back then, giving up the opportunity with the Fawcett Family for David Hayes. The more she thought about it, the more she felt like an idiot.

Now, she just wanted to cut ties with this scumbag as quickly as possible.

She didn’t want to wait another minute.

When David Hayes received the message, he didn’t immediately agree to come back. Instead, he replied to Sharon Sutton, “You’re back in Westhaven?”

He had been waiting for this opportunity.

Sharon Sutton saw his message but didn’t reply.

Recently, Maya Evans and Sean Sutton had also opened a shop.

They saw how well Mrs. Sutton’s shop in Veridia was doing.

She had even opened a branch in Westhaven.

Seeing Mrs. Sutton’s business thriving, Sean Sutton and Maya Evans grew envious and opened a shop of their own.

However, business at their shop wasn’t that good.

As Sharon Sutton passed by, she saw Maya Evans busy at work, with Sean Sutton helping her.

Seeing these people reminded Sharon Sutton of how they had caused her to lose her child.

A wave of hatred washed over her.

Lately, in Veridia, she hadn’t thought about these things.

But now that she was back in Westhaven, those memories began to attack her again.

Sharon Sutton walked over.

Ever since the online scandal, everyone knew Yvonne Evans was the daughter of a mistress, and she couldn’t find a job.

Now she was helping out at the shop.

Looking at this family, Sharon Sutton found it laughable.

Yvonne Evans had been at the shop all day without a single customer. Now, seeing someone arrive, she immediately perked up. “Welcome.”

But when she looked up, she saw Sharon Sutton.

She froze for a moment. “What are you doing here?”

She was holding a tray. Yvonne Evans put the tray down and asked Sharon, “Weren’t you supposed to have gone to Veridia with Anne Sutton? What happened? Did you get kicked out too?”

Hearing Yvonne Evans say she’d been kicked out, Sharon Sutton remembered that she had, in fact, been kicked out before, and her face immediately darkened.

She sized up the shop. It was obvious they were trying to imitate Mrs. Sutton’s shop; even the decor was quite similar.

Sharon Sutton looked at this knock-off shop and found it utterly ridiculous.

Yvonne Evans said to Sharon Sutton, “What are you laughing at? Get out. You’re not welcome here.”

Remembering how she had been thrown out when she went to Veridia, Yvonne Evans felt a surge of resentment. Seeing Sharon now, all she wanted was to kick her out too.

‘Let her have a taste of the same humiliation I suffered.’

Sharon Sutton said, “Yvonne Evans, do you know why I came here?”
