Nathan Fawcett stood to the side, listening to Anne Sutton speak, and glanced at the woman.

Anna Linden’s gaze fell on Anne Sutton. She glanced at Anne, then turned to Nathan Fawcett.

’So, Nathan Fawcett already told Ryan Linden that he’s Nathan Fawcett?’

’And here I couldn’t even bring myself to expose him.’

’Even when I removed him from his position and had Noah Linden take over temporarily, I never revealed that he was Nathan Fawcett!’

’But him? He just went and announced it himself.’

’What a great son I have!’

’Nathan Fawcett is trying to kill me with anger!’

Anna Linden didn’t have time to hold Nathan Fawcett accountable. She just looked at Ryan Linden. "What exactly happened? What’s wrong with your hand?"

Ryan Linden said, "He did it all."

Anna Linden stood to the side and looked at Anne Sutton. "You tell me!"

Anne Sutton recounted everything that had happened at the shop in great detail.

The more Anna Linden listened, the darker her expression became. When she heard that Ryan Linden had tried to smash up Mrs. Sutton’s shop, she was absolutely furious.

She looked at Ryan Linden and said, "You were going to destroy someone’s shop?"

Ryan Linden said, "That woman’s shop was only opened with Nathan Fawcett’s help! Aunt, don’t you hate the Fawcett Family the most? I was just getting back at them for you."

The moment Ryan Linden finished speaking, Anna Linden slapped him across the face.

SLAP! The sound echoed as the blow landed on Ryan Linden’s face. He looked at Anna Linden in disbelief. "Aunt?"

Anna Linden said, "If you dare touch that shop, I won’t let you off easy."

She often chatted with Mrs. Sutton, and she was a regular at that very shop.

How could Anna Linden possibly forgive Ryan for trying to destroy it?

Hearing this, Anne Sutton’s lips twitched. Seeing Ryan Linden’s pathetic state, she thought, ’It serves him right!’

Ryan Linden looked at Anna Linden, not understanding why, but since he was being scolded by his aunt, he could only accept his misfortune.

Only after scolding Ryan Linden did Anna Linden turn to Nathan Fawcett.

She walked up to Nathan Fawcett. "Let’s talk outside."

Nathan Fawcett said, "Can’t we talk here?"

Anna Linden glanced at him, then at Ryan Linden on the hospital bed.

She took a deep breath and said, "You told Ryan Linden that you’re Nathan Fawcett?"

Nathan Fawcett said nonchalantly, "Yes. I told him."

Anna Linden stared at him. "I was originally thinking that after you’d learned your lesson, you could come back, and the Linden Family would still be yours! But since you can’t be bothered to use this identity anymore, then so be it! From now on, the Linden Family has nothing to do with you. I don’t want to give you any more chances. This is fine."

Hearing Anna Linden’s words, Nathan Fawcett didn’t get angry. He said, "All of this belonged to Ethan Linden to begin with. I never wanted it. Since you’ve already made up your mind, then let’s leave it at that."

"You’re not going to miss it at all?" Anna Linden looked at him in disbelief.

’She had always thought she could threaten him with everything the Linden Family had to offer, but he didn’t care in the slightest?’

Nathan Fawcett said, "Why should I miss something that never belonged to me in the first place? Thank you, Mother, for saving me and letting me live to this day. I’m very grateful. These past few years can be considered my repayment. But I’ve had enough of being Ethan Linden! From now on, I don’t want to be Ethan’s substitute anymore. I am Nathan Fawcett, Ian’s father, and I want to marry Anne Sutton! I don’t want to give people a reason to gossip."

’Because he was Ethan Linden, he couldn’t be with Anne Sutton.’

’But if he was Nathan Fawcett, then no one could say a thing!’

Hearing Nathan Fawcett’s words, Anna Linden looked at him and said, "Fine, fine, fine! Nathan Fawcett, just don’t you regret this! Since you’re willing to give up everything the Linden Family has to offer for Anne Sutton, then I’ll just consider myself blind all these years!"

After saying her piece, she was so angry she stormed out of the hospital room.

Anne Sutton stood to the side, watching Nathan Fawcett.

He stood there, his back ramrod straight. He was no longer forcing himself to be Ethan Linden just to please his mother, as he had in the past.

Ryan Linden, lying nearby, watched this scene unfold with some delight.

’Even though he’d lost out today, that bastard Nathan Fawcett would never be able to show his face in the Linden Family again!’

’This was great!’

Anne Sutton said to Nathan Fawcett, "Should we head back now?"

The police had already come and gone.

Since it was self-defense and Ryan Linden had started the trouble, they didn’t press charges against Nathan Fawcett, only making him cover the medical expenses.

By now, Ryan Linden’s hand was almost completely bandaged.

Nathan Fawcett glanced at Anne Sutton and followed her out of the hospital.

He looked at her and said, "If you don’t want me to go back, I won’t."

Hearing him, Anne Sutton looked at him. "When did I ever say I didn’t want you to go back?"

"I no longer have Ethan Linden’s identity. Didn’t you say that if I weren’t Ethan Linden one day, you wouldn’t like me anymore?"

"..." Hearing Nathan Fawcett, Anne Sutton said, "I said that before. I just didn’t want you to give up that identity so easily."

’She clearly didn’t want to pay him any mind.’

’But looking at Nathan Fawcett now, she couldn’t help but feel he was pitiful.’

’In any case, he was finally being himself again, no longer living in Ethan Linden’s shadow.’

’Actually, this way...’

’...was better!’

Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton. He had been in a bad mood lately because of what Anne had said to Caleb Summers.

She had said that if given the choice, she wouldn’t choose him over her career.

’But now that he was no longer Ethan Linden, she wasn’t trying to kick him out, which made Nathan Fawcett quite happy.’

’Ah, her!’

’This woman always said one thing and did another.’

’Her words said one thing, but her heart felt another.’

This gave him a sense of relief. It was as if he wasn’t so angry with her anymore.

He followed Anne Sutton and got into the car.

The two of them first went to the shop to pick up Ian.

After such a huge commotion today, Mrs. Sutton was terrified.

Seeing Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett return, she asked, "How did it go? Is that person alright?"

Anne Sutton said, "It’s fine. Where’s Ian?"

"He’s inside," Mrs. Sutton said. "He’s been worried sick about you."

She led Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett into the private room inside. Ian was sitting on the sofa, his eyes welling with tears.

Anne Sutton looked at her silly son and asked, "What are you crying for?"

Ian ran over. "I thought I’d never see Mom and Dad again!"

Anne Sutton hugged her son. "No, no, that’s not true. It was just a small matter, why wouldn’t you see us again? Let’s go home!"

She came out carrying Ian and said to Mrs. Sutton, "Mom, we’re heading back now. Do you want to come with us?"

"You guys go ahead. I’ll come back later."

Anne Sutton said, "Alright then."

She took Ian and Nathan Fawcett home.

Nathan Fawcett still had blood on his clothes.

Anne Sutton said, "You should go take a shower and change your clothes."

Hearing her, Nathan Fawcett glanced at the blood on his sleeve and said, "Did it scare you?"

Anne Sutton stood before him and shook her head. "No."

Nathan Fawcett wanted to hug her but was afraid of getting her dirty.

He looked at her and said, "I’ll go wash up then."

Anne Sutton watched the man. When Ryan Linden showed up today, she had been genuinely worried something terrible would happen, but in the end, she realized they hadn’t been at a disadvantage at all.

’Even if he has nothing, it seems... he’s not someone you need to worry about.’

’How could a person with his personality ever lose out?’

That night, Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett were lying in bed, and Ian was there too.

He had been frightened, so Anne Sutton didn’t make Ian sleep in his own room.
