Chapter 205: Chapter 205

The small room Tine chose to have the meeting seemed like something from a fairytale.

The wall were lined with torches and dusty bookshelves. The windows were covered with thick fabric that barely allowed any light into the room.

The tension was thick.

Dron knew exactly what the problem was, there was a group of people who didn’t really trust eachother all waiting to find out if the plan he and Tempest were coming up with would be the plan that would end their lives.

If Dron was being honest with himself there was absolutely no chance that everyone in the room would live out a long life.

What they had planned to do would be near impossible and something that hadn’t been attempted since before the ancestors were born.

"So is anyone going to say anything?" Tempest spoke softly.

There was a bit of grumbling but no one spoke up.

Dron sat back waiting for someone else to take the lead. Anyone.

When that didn’t happened he felt Tempest elbow his side.

He was going to have to take the lead here. Once again.

"Let me start by saying that we all know how difficult this journey is going to be."

"The journey?" Tine interjected. "What about what’s going on right now. There’s just too many of them here. The settlement is nearly bursting at the seams."

Crilium snapped back, "What exactly are you suggesting we do? Should we banish everyone out into the elements?"

"I didn’t say anything like that." Tine shook her head.

"It might be safer if they were all out there. Who knows what some of the newer additions will do when we aren’t looking." Hen spoke up.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Aliq leaned forward in his seat.

The entire room erupted in an argument.

Dron groaned and leaned back in the chair. This was exactly what he was afraid of. There were just too many different personalities in the room and everyone thought they had the right answers. The only problem with that was the answers they had only worked for their group.

"Enough!" Dron barked and in an instant everyone snapped their mouths shut and it was quiet in the room.

"Grrr." Tempest teased him and snuggled up next to him. Apparently, him being aggressive was enough to turn her on.

He wanted to address that in the only way he knew how, by throwing her on the nearest table and taking her hard just how he knew she liked it. This wasn’t the time.

Dron sighed before he continued talking making sure not to move away from Tempest. She had a way of keeping him grounded.

He needed that right then.

"We aren’t going to send anyone out into the desert. The whole point of bringing everyone together was to keep us together." Dron looked around the room before letting his gaze land on Tine.

"I get that, but it doesn’t change the fact that we don’t have enough resources for everyone here." She replied.

"We’ll make do. If need be we will send out some hunters to get food in the settlement." Dron offered.

"I’ve brought in some skilled hunters it would be no problem for us." Aliq spoke.

"Sounds good." Dron nodded his head.

"Even with all that, we can’t stay here forever." Mexyn spoke, her soft voice held a little bit of strength as she moved closer to Crilium.

He leaned in and whispered something to her. She shuddered lightly before shrugging her shoulders in aggreement.

Dron wasn’t sure what was going on between those two but it seemed heavy.

"That’s true. We need to move on. We need to get to Thraqe."

"Not everyone will want to go to Thraqe." Hen spoke again.

"It’s not to stay. They won’t be prisoners there but if we are to take on the high royals we need to show up united." Dron continued.

"How exactly are we going to get there?" Gerax asked. "It’s not like the ship we boarded to get here would be willing to take on a whole rebellion. Honestly, I don’t know any captain who would take us on."

Dron pulled his shoulders back, he was gearing up for what he was about to say.

"We’re going to build the ships ourselves."

"What!"

"How?"

"I’m too pretty for manual labor."

The last comment came from Rynax.

Dron ignored it. If this were to work, everyone would have to pull more than their own weight. It would be hard, there was no denying that.

"We’d need to build the ships, we’d need to stock them, we’d need to prepare the people for the long journey."

Tempest looked up at him, "That sounds like it’ll take a long time." She didn’t want to go against him, but it was obvious that she had a few concerns about what he was asking everyone to do.

"Not as long as you might think." Tine spoke up.

"What do you mean by that?" Dron questioned.

"I’ll tell you but I want you to tell me something first." Tine leaned forward.

Always with an alterior motive. Dron wondered if that woman’s brain was ever just silent.

"What do you want to know?" Dron asked.

"I want to know what you think we are going to do when we get there? Do you honestly think the high royals are going to see an entire army on their shores and just welcome us with open arms. What we need more than ships is real soldiers."

There was a bit of grumbling from the crowd in the small room.

"We could train the alpha’s and the betas." Dron said.

"I could train the Omegas...err...the human women in medical care." Gerax offered.

"That could work, everyone would have a job." Hen nodded.

Dron continued, "Crilium you and I will start a training schedule, Rynax you and Aliq will work on finding a good route for us to take and work on what we need for the journey. Hen and Tine you’ll work with the people, there are bound to be more than a few uncertain and scared people around. We need to keep everyone calm. Tempest, Gerax and Mexyn will work to train on the medical needs of all the different people."

There wasn’t any complaints, not even from Rynax. Dron was surprised. They had just accepted his orders as if they were a royal decree.

He focused his eyes on Tine, "now tell me what you know about the ships we need."

Tine nodded her head, "We already have the resources we need to build the ships. We’ve been collecting shipwrecked vessels for years. If we strip down the wood and materials from those ships we should be able to get a few vessels together in a must shorter time."

For the first time since the meeting started Dron began to feel a bit of hope. Maybe with everyone helping out not everything will be on his shoulders. Maybe they could work the problems all together.

"This is going to work." Tempest looked up at him and gave him a small smile.

Dron felt his heart swell.

It didn’t matter what everyone else in the room was thinking or feeling, as long as he made Tempest proud he knew he was doing the right thing.

"Well if everyone is finish patting themselves on the back, there are a million and one tasks ahead of us, time to get started." Rynax stood from his seat.

With that everyone else stood up and started to walk to the front door. Dron looked up at them and wondered when he became part of a council. That’s exactly what they were, a council for the forgotten and mistreated.

Dron followed them out the door and looked out to the hundreds of people who were looking to them for answers.

After that meeting Dron was sure that they finally had a plan that could work.

Tempest grabbed hold of his arm stopping him from moving forward.

"You did this." She said.

"No, we all did this. None of this would be possible if it was all just me."

"That’s true, you can’t do it alone, but you’ve given everyone something to work toward. Something to hope for again."

Dron didn’t know if that was true, there was no telling if they would win against the high royals. For all Dron knew, they wouldn’t make it off the beach.

This could all be for nothing.

He could be gearing everyone up for their doom, but at least they would all be fighting for something they believed in.

Dron took another step forward, ready to start on what was sure to be a long hard day.

"Dron..." Tempest whispered behind him.

There was something wrong with her voice.

Dron turned just in time to see her grab her stomach and double over in pain.

"Tempest! What’s wrong? What’s going on?" Dron rushed back over to her.

He lifted her so she was standing again.

"I need..." she started, squeezing her eyes shut and sucking in a hissing breath.

"What? Tell me what you need and I’ll get it for you."

Her eyes opened again, and she focused on him. Dron knew that look. He inhaled through his nose. His alpha instincts roared to life.

Tempest pressed herself as close to Dron as she could. "I need you."
