Manaless Mage

Chapter 44 Beautiful White Flame

The walls of the wide room were also painted silver and Harry could also make out a few designs around the room.

Twenty students could be seen sitting on yellow mat-like objects in lotus positions. They were all scattered around the hall with enough space between each student.

They appeared to be in deep concentration as none of them even noticed Harry’s presence. Their bodies were stiff with little to no movements expert the slight heaving of their chests and twitching of their brows.

The lightning element was very rare and only a few kids awakened the element every year. The rarity of the element was what led to the few number of students in the lightning hall.

‘This is so boring…’ Harry mumbled inwardly. He was currently seated on one of those mat-like objects used by the other students, his legs were crossed over each other and his eyes were also closed.

Although what the students were sitting on seemed ordinary, it was anything but ordinary.

It was actually an artefact engraved with runes. It assists in the mana absorption process by drawing the mana particles in the air.

Although it wasn’t an high grade artefact and the runes engraved on it weren’t really powerful, it was still very useful for Elementalists, most especially those at the early mana core stages.

It wasn’t compulsory for students to absorb mana in the academy, in fact, they could train anywhere.

However, the academy was the best place to absorb mana because of the high amount and density of mana in the academy surroundings.

The academy was enhanced with a lot of high grade artefacts that not only offered protection but also increased the amount and density of mana in the academy.

The instructress had already given Harry the manual and guidelines on how to draw the mana.

‘…and annoying.’ He thought. Although he had all the information on how to draw mana, it was basically useless to him. Since he had no actual mana core but was only using an illusion, he couldn’t draw mana.

He only appeared to be focused while being frustrated inwardly. He would actually have to bear this hell for about two hours..

‘Still it’s amazing… the effects of mana core illusion.’ Harry said inwardly. Not only could the skill create a fake mana core and mana core foundation for him, but it could also create an illusion of him actually drawing mana and all he needed to do was to just will it.

The skill basically made him a false Elementalist with amazing talent.

Not matter how Harry thought about it… the skill was just amazing. He realised how much he had underestimated this skill.

Since its level was MAX, he doubted anyone would be able to see through its illusion.

When he was with the principal, he was actually a little worried that the principal might see through the skill.

The only thing that made him not to fret was his trust in the system and the words of ‘encouragement’ from the other voice.

However, even though the principal was a mage, and a powerful one at that, he wasn’t able to see through the skill.

Though his eyes were closed, he could still feel the gaze of the female instructor on him. It seemed like extra attention was being paid to him due to his ‘talent’.

As for the instructress, she was shocked at what her mana sense was sensing. The speed at which Harry was absorbing mana was just too fast.

Although the speed seemed a bit strange, she didn’t put much thought into. This was the first time she was witnessing someone with such high foundation drawing mana so she felt it was natural.

[Note: Harry has a high mana core foundation not solid. I think I made a mistake in the past chapter]

‘He is truly talented…’ She said inwardly. When she first first about Harry’s talent, she didn’t really believe it, but now that she could see it with her own ‘eyes’, she knew Randy was right.

Harry’s brows twitched slightly as he kept up his facade of absorbing mana.

‘Maybe I should actually try to meditate.’ He thought. He was starting to get bored with just closing his eyes and the other voice’s silence wasn’t helping either.

Before an Elementalist could create and develop their mana core, they had to first strengthen and develop their foundation.

Skipping this process was very disastrous as the mana core would later collapse if the foundation wasn’t strong enough to support it.

This would not only rupture the mana veins but would also permanently cripple an Elementalist, rendering them incapable or drawing mana.

The foundation consisted of the mana core foundation itself and the mana veins.

The first step to developing the foundation was to focus and try to sense the mana core foundation. This was the easy part as sensing the mana core foundation wasn’t too difficult as long as one did it with complete focus.

Harry kept his eyes closed as he slowly went into deep concentration.

He knew he didn’t have a true mana core foundation so trying to sense something that was non-existent would be stupid, however, there was something he did have…

Although he wasn’t sure if it would work, he still tried his best to remember the sensation he felt whenever he used his skills. As for what he was trying to sense, it was none other than his energy.

A thought had been in his mind even before the other voice told him his energy had some similarities with mana—that he should be able to directly sense and check his energy just like Elementalists and Combat mages could sense their mana core.

Harry cut off all form of distraction as he delved deeper into that sensation. All sounds around him slowly drowned and even the sound of his heartbeat slowed.

All he could see and feel was darkness and emptiness, however, he didn’t give up and kept his concentration.

Then that was when he saw it, a beautiful white flame burning brightly in his chest. The flame was only the size of a football, its sides flickered slightly.

If Harry’s eyes were open, they would have definitely widened. He kept his attention on the small flame.

Now that he focused his attention on the flame, he noticed it wasn’t purely white as a few blue and golden lines could be seen around it. However, they were so faint that he had to observe the flame for sometime before he was able to see it.

He was surprised at the appearance, there was no mana vein connected to it, nor was there any foundation supporting it b ‘So… is this my energy Huh?’ Harry asked the other voice.

However, the reply he got was really strange.

[Strange… it’s mixed with blue and golden colours…]
