Chapter 155 The Winner
“Arrrgh!!” He shouted, as Nathan’s sword descended down on his chest, leaving a light cut that ran from his shoulder down to the rest of his torso.
Fortunately, he managed to cast the spell on time, as the thin layer of fire covering his skin helped protect against most of the damage brunt, leaving him with only a light injury from the attack.
However, despite that the wound wasn’t that deep, it still stung with pain, due to the sharpness of the blade.
‘I just have to hit him with my spell, and create some distance between us!’ Corey thought, hurriedly channeling his mana once again.
He immediately stretched his hands towards Nathan, ready to cast another spell. But unfortunately, his head suddenly throbbed at that moment, and he let of a low grunt, delaying his spell activation time by a second.
He had been casting spells repeatedly, and his mana core was starting to reach his limit.
While he was able to handle casting two spells at once, three was his limit. The “fire boots” spell was still active, and coupled with the “Flaming skin” spell that required him to continuously channel his mana throughout his body, he couldn’t find the mental strength to cast a third spell in succession.
If he had put enough efforts in his training, his elemental skills and mental strength would have developed to the point where he would be able to handle holding three spells at once.
With his talent, he wouldn’t face much trouble in breaking through to the third stage, and even achieving feats like holding more than two spells at once, and strengthening his mental power.
Nathan, seeing this, didn’t waste anytime before going in for another attack. He snickered as he lunged towards Corey, twisted his body to the side, before following up with a punch towards Corey’s chest.
‘Damn it!!’ Corey exclaimed inwardly, summoning every ounce of speed in his body to dodge the incoming attack.
The throbbing pain that kept assaulting him from his head, and the stinging pain from the wound left by Nathan’s slash only served to worsen his situation; no matter how he tried he wasn’t able to completely ignore them.
Despite the speed-boost spell that was still active, he still wasn’t able to follow Nathan’s speed, and everything seemed like a blur as Nathan closed in on him before driving a heavy punch into his stomach.
Thwack!
Corey’s eyes widened in pain and shock, as the force of his punch forced his body to arch backwards before flinging him away.
This time, he wasn’t able to regain his footing, and his body ended up colliding with that of the Elementalists who stood behind him.
The both of them ended up being flung together, landing a few feet away from their domain’s flag.
The sheer force behind the punch completely knocked Corey out, and he slumped on top of his teammates, his mouth wide open, and his expression still contorted in pain.
Meanwhile, during the time Nathan and Corey were busy engaging in their own fight, the female combat mage on Nathan’s team with short black hair had also charged at Corey’s domain.
A deep frown was on her face as she held her spear tightly with her two hands, before swinging the bladed part towards the Elementalist who stood in front of her.
Whether it was just her bad luck, but the Elementalist who stood in front of her was the stage two Elementalist on Corey’s team, Lia Noel.
Seeing the combat mage headed towards her at rapid speed, Lia’s face morphed into a deep frown, but she didn’t lose her calm and hurriedly channeled her mana to cast a spell.
“Wind Steps!” She shouted. Immediately, a huge amount of wind gathered around her legs, temporarily boosting her speed and movement fluidity.
Using the increased speed from the spell, she moved to the side, successfully dodging the spear that was swung towards her.
Grace, seeing how her attack was dodged so seemingly easy, grunted in annoyance, before twisting the spear once again, in hopes of cutting Lia at the side with it.
However, Lia had already anticipated this, and simply moved even further to the side, causing the slash to miss her by an inch.
She hurriedly pulled her hands backwards, preparing to cast another spell once more.
‘All I have to do is create some distance between us!’ The black haired Elementalist exclaimed inwardly, before casting another spell.
“Spinning Air ball!!” Following her words, a large amount of wind gathered at the middle of her palm, rapidly spinning and condensing into a tiny ball of air.
Grace, seeing the accumulating win on Lia’s palm, couldn’t help but curse under her breath, as she immediately tried to withdraw her weapon and defend against the spell.
However, her movements were too slow, and without anybody telling her, she knew she wouldn’t be fast enough to block the attack.
Without wasting anytime, Lia immediately launched the ball of air in her palms, towards Grace.
Swoosh!!
The air ball flew through the air with rapid speed, rapidly closing in on Grace.
Grace immediately tried to move her spear towards the ball to at lest deflect it, but just as she had feared, she ended up being too slow, and by the time she had set up her spear to defend against the attack, the air ball had already closed in on her.
Whoosh!!
However, just as the wind attack was able to hit her, a thin whooshing sound suddenly sounded in the air, and before she knew it, a thin arrow flew from behind her, colliding against the wind ball, successfully slicing through it.
‘Huh?! Stanley?!’ Grace eyes widened at that realization, remembering that there was a certain orange haired boy on their team who used arrows.
Her face brightened up at that instant, and she didn’t waste anytime before lunging towards Lia again, for another attack.
Lia’s eyes also widened in shock, as she hadn’t expected an arrow to fly in at the nick of time and cut through her spell.
Despite the arrow already cutting through the wind ball, it didn’t stop, instead going on to lodge itself deep into the right shoulder of the Elementalist. .𝙘𝙤𝙢
“Arrrg!” Lia grunted in pain, as the arrows pierced deeply into her shoulder.
‘Yeah. They still have an archer!’ She thought in realization, with her expression contorted in pain. Due to being in the spur of the moment, she temporarily forgot at the archer who still remained in Nathan’s team domain.
Just then, she noticed Grace lunging towards her, and the frown on her face deepened even more.
Holding back the pain assaulting her from her shoulders with gritted teeth, she stretched her left hand towards Grace, trying her best to channel her mana to cast a spell.
“W-wind… slash!” She shouted, though with great difficulty.
Wind rapidly gathered in front of her outstretched palms before rapidly compressing into a thin slant line, with sharp edges.
Whoosh!!
With a simple mental command, the attack shot towards Grace with rapid speed.
But unfortunately for her, Grace had already expected this kind of attack, so she immediately slid on the ground, successfully dodging the wind slash as it flew over her body, moving in the air for a few seconds before disappearing into tiny pink particles.
Lia’s eyes widened in shock as she watched Grace dodge her spell by sliding on the ground.
Lia had expected Grace to come in for a slash like she did before, or swing her spear towards her, so she casted that particular spell to avoid such a situation.
Twisting the spear in her hands, Grace suddenly swung the wooden part of the weapon towards Lia’s feet, sweeping the Elementalist off the ground and causing her to fall to the ground.
Due to the unexpectedness of the sweep, and the pain that was still stinging her from the arrow, Lia was unable to prevent herself from falling to the ground.
She fell to the ground on her side, grunting in pain as the force of the hit caused her shoulder where the arrow was still lodged to throb even more painfully.
The last thing her eyes saw was Grace looking down on her with a smug smile, with the tip of the spear blade pointed at her neck, before losing consciousness.
Despite trying to hold back the pain, at the end of the day, she still succumbed to it and lost consciousness.
By then, Nathan had already finished dealing with Corey, and when Grace looked around her, all she could see were the unconscious members of Corey’s team lying on the ground with their expressions twisted in pain.
On the body of the other Elementalist who stood at Corey’s side, she could see one arrows lodged in both his arm and his left knee.
Without needed to think too much, she already knew that Stanley also helped in bringing the Elementalist down.
‘He defeated them already… and that fast?’ Grace mumbled inwardly, as she stared at Nathan who was already uprooting the opponents’ team flag.
When she was fighting Lia, it felt like so much time had passed and she didn’t like to admit her, but without Stanley helping her with that arrow, she would have undoubtedly lost the fight.
No matter how much she witnessed it, she couldn’t help but be surprised at Nathan’s strength.
After uprooting the opponents’ team flag, a slight smile appeared on Nathan’s face, before he suddenly dashed towards their own team domain and planted the flag into the ground.
