Chapter 126 Susan’s Strength
“Light Arrow.” She mumbled as she stretched her hand towards Harry.
A long thin arrow made purely of white light immediately formed above her hand before shooting towards Harry.
The speed of the arrow was so fast that it even caught Harry off guard a little.
Due to the incoming attack, Harry was forced to stop his charge. He immediately moved to the side, managing to escape the light attack.
The arrow flew for a few more seconds before it finally disintegrated into white particles.
Harry’s face morphed into a slight frown, for some reason, the fact that Susan’s attack managed to catch him off guard, even though it was only a little, annoyed him.
As for sarah, her eyes were widened and her expression was more serious than before.
That last attack that Harry shot towards her contained immense power and she could tell that if she hadn’t dodged the Lightning ball when she did, the lightning attack would have injured her.
Though lightning ball was only a tier one spell, the amount of power she felt when Harry casted it was quite similar to a tier two spell.
At first she only planned on taking this lightly since all three of her teammates were only stage one Elementalist.
However with the amount of power Harry displayed through his last attack, it was obvious that holding back too much of her strength would only lead to her loss and disgrace, so she subconsciously drew out her true strength.
Light’s embrace, the spell she caused a few seconds earlier was actually a tier three spell.
It wasn’t exactly an attack spell, neither was it a defence spell, it was more an enhance spell.
The spell helped to boost her physical capabilities by shrouding her in a thin film of light, making her strength and agility increase by almost double.
The thin coat of white light around her also served as a form of protection against other spells and attacks, but it defensive ability wasn’t so reliable.
It was only due to this that was able to somewhat keep with Harry’s speed when he tried to attack her from behind.
Fortunately, the spell didn’t consume that much mana, so it could be kept on for quite a long time.
Without wasting anytime, she suddenly dashed towards Harry, aiming to end this fight quickly.
From the looks of things, Harry wasn’t just someone with high physical strength and agility, but strong magical powers also.
She couldn’t just stay on the defensive since that would put her at a disadvantage, so she immediately tried to attack on her own.
However, Harry didn’t plan on just sitting still and waiting for her to get to him.
He immediately jumped backwards while stretching his right hand towards her.
“Wind Blade.” He mumbled, and immediately a long thin blade made purely of wind rapidly formed in front of his palm before shooting towards Sarah at an astonishing speed.
Susan let out a little hiss when she saw the wind blade coming towards her with great speed.
The blade was quite long—longer than any of the wind blades she had seen normal stage one elementalist cast—and due to her position, she didn’t have the right momentum to move away from the blade’s trajectory.
Sensing danger from the attack, she hurriedly channeled her mana again and casted another spell.
“Sword of light!” A long white sword with sharp edges appeared in one of her hands and she immediately held it in front of her using it as a shield against the wind blade.
The wind blade collided against the sword, breaking into two, with each parting in opposite directions.
But despite blocking the attack, Sarah could still her hands tremble slightly from the force of the collision alone.
Her eyes widened in shock once more and she couldn’t help but see Harry in a new light; not just as a stage one elementalist, but as someone strong.
When the fight started, she hadn’t expected that it she would have to fight this seriously. However, Harry turned out to be a tougher opponent than she had expected and she decided to get serious with her attacks.
Though this was only a spar, she didn’t want to lose. After all, she was the leader of the team and also the one who proposed that they all attack her, losing to one of the people she asked to fight her would spoil her image.
She gripped the sword in her hand tightly and immediately dashed Harry with great speed.
A slight smile appeared on Harry’s face when he noticed the sword in her hand, this meant that she had started taking this fight more seriously.
Susan’s fighting style was different even compared to other elite students in the academy.
Most Elementalists usually relied on their spells and hated using weapons like swords or shields.
Some spells required things like hand-signs and movements and using weapons somewhat affected their ability to do all this, thereby affecting their spell-casting speed.
The usage of swords and weapons were more common among combat mages, as they had no elemental mana and mainly relied on raw combat and techniques.
However, Susan Grey was the only one different among the the elite students as she mainly used a sword during her fights.
This was something that made her quite unique among the elite students, she wasn’t just an Elementalist but also an expert when it came to the sword.
Susan immediately swung the sword downwards, making a light slash towards Harry’s side.
The slash by sarah was so fast that Harry struggled a little to follow it, however, he was still able to dodge to the side, escaping it by a hairbreadth.
Harry’s face morphed into a frown when he found another slash coming down on him just after escaping one.
He was forced again to dodge by moving to the side. .
Harry jumped backwards while stretching his hand in order to use another skill, however, he didn’t get the chance to activate the skill as sarah suddenly spun around before thrusting the sword towards him.
He instinctively moved back again, in a bid to avoid getting pierced by the sword, and gradually, the the spar changed from Harry attacking to Sarah attacking and Harry barely managing to evade each swings.
The frown on his face deepened when he noticed that he was slowly losing the fight.
Susan hadn’t performed much swings with her sword of light, but yet, he found himself on the back foot. He noticed she had already managed to force him on the defensive.
Her swings kept getting faster and swing of her sword was faster than the former. He didn’t even get as much as a second of rest to activate his attack skills, and the swings kept coming, even before he managed to fully recover from the former one.
It was strange… her movements and slashes were light and it was as if she was dancing instead of fighting, but still he found himself getting pushed back.
Just then, the white light around Susan’s longsword suddenly brightened as Sarah channeled more mana into it, the size Increased and the edges became even sharper.
The sudden increase in brightness affected Harry a little and he instinctively squinted his eyes.
Susan, seeing this, immediately took advantage of it. She moved swiftly to the side on her feet and immediately swung her light sword sideways for a horizontal slash.
This time, Harry was barely able to react to it.
The movement of the sword was so fast that he had a hard time following it.
He immediately moved to the side, however, he wasn’t able to complete escape the attack as the sword still managed to graze him at his side.
He grunted and subconsciously took his focus away from Sarah for a second due not the pain that shot through his body.
However, that split second was more than enough for Sarah to spin around, performing a roundhouse kick that landed perfectly on the side of his neck.
The pain from the kick made Harry grunt again and the force behind it sent him to the ground.
His eyes widened as he laid on the ground. He slowly brought his hand up to his neck and slowly rubbed it, as the images of the fight he just lost played in his mind, he couldn’t help but mutter in disbelieve: “I lost…”
Just then, a red notification flashed across his eyes.
[Optional Quest “Defeat Susan Grey” Failed!]
‘I failed the quest…’ He mumbled inwardly.
When he was fighting Susan, he could feel it… her stats were still lower than his. Despite her boosting her physical prowess using “light’s embrace”, he still had the higher stats… so how, how was it that he still lost?
