Chapter 121 Comprehending an element[2]

Chapter 121 Comprehending an element[2]

‘Energy control.’ He mumbled inwardly, closing his eyes and going into a state of utmost concentration.

[Energy control]; it was a skill he learnt some weeks ago. It was more of a passive skill as it only helped him control his energy better, even without the activation of the skill, he could still control and move his energy but it would be a lot more difficult.

The moment he activated the skill and focused deep within himself, he saw it, the bright energy flame that existed deep within him.

Compared to the last time when it seemed to only be the size of a football, this time it was a lot more bigger.

Another thing he noticed was that the blue and golden lines around the flame seemed to have grown, no longer do they just seem like lines, but it was as if they were different flames on their own, swirling together with the white flame.

He had never understood what those blue and gold flames meant, but he simply took it as natural.

His energy was different from mana anyway, so he knew the way they operated would defiantly not be the same, no matter no matter how similar they may seem.

With the activation of [Energy control], the edges of the flame moved more vigorously.

He swayed the flame a little, as if to test it before slowly channeling the energy to his arms.

Despite being so focused on the flame within him, Harry could still feel the effect of his energy on his hands.

It wasn’t just his hands though, he could still feel his whole body, heck he could even feel every part of his body more than he would when he wasn’t in deep concentration.

It was as if each and every part of him were perfectly connected; from the white flame burning brightly within him to even his body cells.

Though he wasn’t exactly ‘seeing’ his body organs and cells, he could still feel them in his body.

He swirled his energy around his arms, slowly moving them towards his outstretched palms.

It felt as if his arms were submerged in a warm and refreshing liquid, right now, his hands felt so energised and it was as if he could destroy the whole world with a punch.

Harry’s eyes twitched, he deepened his concentration further and tried to bring his energy out of his skin.

No matter how many times he channeled his energy, breaking it through his skin had always been quite difficult.

Any little mistake and his concentration would be broken, meaning he would have to restart from the beginning.

After thinly coating the inner layer of his skin with his energy, he slowly swirled it around, trying to reduce the resistance and break through the outer layer.

Little by little, the resistance waned until a little amount of his energy broke out of his skin.

But from this point, things would only become more difficult. .

Since his energy had left the ‘barrier’ of his body, they became more difficult to sense and control.

The situation was similar to using a magnet to control a piece of iron that was outside its magnetic field.

His body was like the “magnetic field”, while the energy that existed outside of his body was like the “piece of iron”.

However, Harry still didn’t give up and kept trying to control it.

His brows furrowed and sweat pooled on his forehead.

He didn’t rush it and decided to take things slow instead.

He tried sensing the small amount of energy first, and after a few minutes, he was finally able to sense and control it to some extent.

He gently swirled it around, before slowly channeling adding more energy to it.

After a few minutes, Harry had managed to channel quite a bit of energy outside his body, they coated his hands in a bright white hue.

But the white hue had a few tinges of blue and golden lines.

Though Harry’s hand was coated by a bright white hue, no other elementalist or mage, no matter how powerful they were would be able to see it.

Only he could see and sense his energy properly, to others, it had always appeared as non-existent for some reason.

Even now, what they would sense was an Elementalist channeling mana.

Despite the warm and refreshing sensation that spread around his hands, Harry didn’t get distracted.

He was already getting used to feeling that whenever he tried channeling his energy and wasn’t as distracted by it as before.

Slowly but surely, Harry moved the energy from his hands and slowly injected them into the burning fire in front of him.

Strangely enough, the fire didn’t show any difference despite Harry injecting his energy into it.

It burned at the same intensity at which it did before, and the colour remained the same.

As for Harry, he felt as if he could feel the fire itself.

‘Is that what the other voice meant… when he said I should ‘perfectly understand’ the element?’ Harry thought to himself with a slight frown.

He injected more of his energy into the burning fire, and noticed that he couldn’t just feel it, he could sense it also.

It was weird to explain but he could feel each and every part of the fire, he could sense its movements, every little sway of the flames.

It was as if he was connected to it… as if he understood the fire itself.

His eyes furrowed deeply and his breathing got heavier.

He focused more of this new feeling and sensation, while slowly moving more energy into the flames.

The more energy he put into the fire, the faster and easier it was to ‘sense’ the fire.

He could tell… he was making progress.

This was exactly what the other voice and the system wanted him to do, and how he would ‘understand’ and finally comprehend the fire element!

However, just as he felt himself getting closer to a breakthrough in the element comprehension, a huge sudden wave of exhaustion and hunger suddenly washed over him.

The pain and exhaustion jolted him out of his concentration and his body collapsed on the ground.

He kept breathing heavily as he stared at the system notifications flashing across his eyes.

[WARNING! Low energy!]

[WARNING! Low energy!]

It seemed like he had expended his energy and couldn’t go on with the comprehension process any longer.

‘Host stats…’

Seeing how low his energy had gotten, the edges of Harry’s lips curled into a slight smile. He finally understood why it suddenly felt as if his soul suddenly left him.

Since he had been so focused on comprehending and understanding the fire, he never bothered to check the white flame within him that kept reducing with every passing second.

His energy wasn’t unlimited, so of course, the more energy he placed into the fire, the lesser the flame inside of him got.

Ever since he evolved, he doubted his energy had ever gotten this low.

‘I’ve only been doing this for a few minutes, but look how spent my energy is…’ Harry thought, but the moment he turned his head to the side and checked the clock that was on the wall, his eyes widened and he realised how wrong he was!

An hour had passed since he started comprehending the fire element!

It was as if time moved slower when he was in deep concentration so he didn’t notice how much time had passed.

‘But I feel so exhausted… it’s as if every part of my body is tired.’ Harry mumbled inwardly as he let out a loud, drawn out yawn.

He slowly stretched his hand and grabbed the storage device that laid some distance away from him and brought out whatever snack he could find.

He had always carried snacks and foodstuffs in his storage device, to prepare for any emergency that may occur, but even he hadn’t expected that he would need them now.

Without care he gobbled down all of them recklessly, his cheeks puffed out and his mouth moving continuously.

After eating all the snacks, he felt a little strength return to him and was finally able to sit up.

After turning off the fireplace, Harry checked the [Quest] panel once more, to see how far he had progressed.

Though he knew he had definitely made some progress, he wanted to know how much.

His eyes widened as he read through the set of tabs in front of him.

The progress percentage had gone up by a whopping twenty percent! That was the highest amount of progress he had ever made in comprehending the fire element.

Of course, this made him happy!

Harry felt so excited that he wanted to pump his fists, but he couldn’t as his hands were too tired for that, so his lips only curled up in a happy and satisfied smile.
