Devara stepped forward despite the wall of crimson flames burning around the stone platform.
The heat washed over his body, yet he did not retreat.
His eyes remained fixed upon the imprisoned guardian, whose enormous body continued to bleed beneath the cursed chains.
The beast watched him silently, perhaps unable to understand why another being would willingly approach the very curse that had kept everyone else away.
Devara slowly raised his right hand.
A brilliant golden light suddenly gathered within his palm.
The light expanded outward, illuminating the entire chamber, and from within it emerged Pinakodanda, his divine bow.
The weapon materialized in his grasp with a deep celestial resonance, its sacred form gleaming against the darkness of the cave.
Karna and Ashwatthama immediately recognized what he intended.
Devara planted his feet firmly upon the stone and drew the bowstring.
As the string pulled backward, his Yogic energy began flowing through his body and gathering upon the arrow.
Blue light started forming around the shaft, initially appearing as a tiny stream of water before rapidly expanding into a spiraling current.
The energy twisted around the arrow like a miniature river.
It was not ordinary water.
It carried the divine essence of Ganga, the sacred celestial river who was also Devara’s mother.
The blue current continued spiraling faster and faster, forming countless droplets that remained suspended in the air without falling.
Each droplet contained a faint shimmer of divine light, and the sound of flowing water gradually filled the cave despite there being no river anywhere nearby.
Devara had named this Astra Gangapravaha Astra, the Astra of the Divine Ganga’s Flow.
His intention was not to attack the guardian.
Nor was he trying to destroy the cursed chains.
Not yet.
His first objective was much simpler.
The blood.
The enormous quantity of blood that had been drained from the guardian had filled the channel around the platform and had become part of the curse’s mechanism.
Devara intended to cleanse it and remove it from the cave before attempting anything more dangerous.
He slowly drew the string farther.
The blue energy intensified.
The entire cave began echoing with the sound of rushing water.
The flames around the platform reacted immediately.
They surged upward as though sensing the divine energy gathering within the arrow.
The guardian lifted its head.
Its exhausted eyes widened.
It could feel the purity contained within the Astra.
Devara’s expression remained calm.
"Mother’s sacred waters will cleanse this place."
He released the string.
The arrow shot forward.
Instead of striking the stone, it exploded into a magnificent torrent of blue divine water above the blood channel.
A tremendous wave of celestial water spread outward in a perfect circle, rushing around the platform and colliding with the cursed blood.
The crimson liquid began to churn.
The flames roared.
For several moments, fire and divine water clashed violently around the imprisoned guardian.
Then the blue current began overwhelming the blood.
The cursed crimson liquid started dissolving, its dark energy separating from the fluid as countless black particles rose into the air before being purified by the divine waters.
The guardian watched silently.
For the first time in centuries, the channel surrounding its prison was beginning to clear.
Devara tightened his grip around Pinakodanda.
"This is only the beginning."
The divine waters continued to surge around the stone platform, washing away every trace of the cursed blood.
The crimson liquid that had accumulated there for countless years gradually became thinner and thinner until it was completely replaced by clear, shimmering water.
The dark residue that had clung to the stone was purified as well, dissolving beneath the radiance of Gangapravaha Astra until not even a stain remained.
Finally, the last trace of blood disappeared.
The flames surrounding the platform flickered once.
Then they vanished.
The chamber suddenly became quiet.
Only droplets of water fell from the edges of the stone platform, their soft sounds echoing through the enormous cave.
The ground around the stage was completely wet, but there was no blood left anywhere.
Not even its foul metallic smell remained.
The air itself seemed cleaner, as though a terrible burden had been removed from the cave.
Devara lowered Pinakodanda.
"The first part is done."
With the cursed blood gone, nothing remained to prevent him from approaching the guardian.
He stepped across the now-wet ground and walked directly toward the stone platform.
Karna and Ashwatthama remained behind for the moment, watching carefully in case the curse reacted in some unexpected manner.
The tribe leader stood farther back, still unable to comprehend everything he had witnessed.
Devara reached the edge of the platform and climbed onto it.
The guardian remained completely motionless.
Its enormous body was still pinned to the stone by the cursed chains.
The chains had pierced through its limbs, torso and wings, holding every part of its body firmly against the platform.
It could not even lift its head.
Only its eyes moved.
Those enormous golden eyes slowly followed Devara as he approached.
Devara stopped directly before the creature.
For several moments, neither moved.
The guardian’s eyes studied him carefully.
Devara could see the exhaustion within them.
The creature had endured centuries of pain, yet despite everything, there was still intelligence within its gaze.
"You have been here for a very long time," Devara said quietly.
The guardian’s eyes shifted slightly.
Devara glanced at the chains.
"Don’t worry. I am not here to hurt you."
The creature’s eyes returned to him.
Devara slowly reached toward one of the chains but stopped just before touching it.
The cursed metal radiated an oppressive energy.
Even without making contact, he could feel the malice woven into it.
This was no ordinary imprisonment.
Every link had been designed specifically to keep the guardian restrained.
Devara looked at the creature again.
"You cannot move at all, can you?"
The guardian’s eyes slowly blinked.
Devara understood.
He lowered his hand.
"I see."
Behind him, Karna finally stepped closer.
"The chains are still active."
Ashwatthama examined them carefully.
"They haven’t weakened despite the purification."
Devara nodded.
"The blood was only one part of the curse."
His eyes remained fixed upon the guardian.
"The chains themselves are the real prison."
The guardian continued staring at him.
Devara placed his palm gently against the creature’s enormous head.
The beast’s eyes widened slightly.
For the first time in countless years, someone had touched it without intending to harm it.
"You protected this forest once," Devara whispered.
"You protected every creature living here."
His expression hardened as he looked at the cursed chains.
"Now it is my turn to protect you."
The guardian’s eyes remained fixed upon him.
And deep within those ancient golden eyes, something that had been absent for centuries slowly began to return.
Hope.
Devara remained beside the guardian for a few moments, studying the cursed chains from every angle.
The black metal appeared almost ordinary at first glance, but the longer he looked at it, the more he realized that there was something fundamentally wrong about its construction.
The chains were not merely restraining the guardian’s physical body.
They were interacting with something deeper.
Devara slowly closed his eyes.
There was one ability he had yet to use.
Child of Destiny.
He activated the trait.
The world before him immediately changed.
The physical appearance of the chains faded into the background, replaced by layers of energy, connections and flowing patterns that were normally invisible to his eyes.
The guardian’s enormous body became surrounded by a faint golden aura, while countless strands of life force flowed through its body like luminous rivers.
Then Devara saw it.
His expression hardened.
The cursed chains were connected directly to the guardian’s life force.
Every link contained a small, dark channel that pierced through the creature’s aura.
The chains were constantly drawing energy from its body, pulling away its vitality and feeding it into the curse.
That stolen energy did not simply disappear.
It was being redirected through the chains, circulating around the prison before returning as the force that reopened the guardian’s wounds.
The entire curse was a closed cycle.
Drain its life force.
Cause its body to weaken.
Allow its healing ability to restore it.
Drain the restored energy again.
Repeat. Forever.
Devara’s eyes narrowed.
"So that’s how you did it."
The guardian’s eyes shifted toward him.
Devara slowly moved his gaze along the chains.
He could now see that every individual link was connected to the next, forming a massive network around the creature.
Cutting one chain would not be enough. The energy would simply flow through another.
The curse had been constructed with extraordinary precision.
Whoever had created it had understood the guardian’s nature and deliberately designed the punishment around its strengths.
Devara’s gaze eventually reached the center of the guardian’s chest.
There, beneath layers of cursed energy, he saw something else.
A tiny knot of darkness.
Unlike the chains, this darkness was not spread throughout the body.
It was concentrated.
One point. One source.
Devara’s eyes narrowed further.
"There."
Karna noticed the change in his expression.
"What did you see?"
Devara did not immediately answer.
He continued observing the curse through Child of Destiny.
The knot appeared to be the command point of the entire curse.
The chains were merely extensions of it. As long as that central point remained intact, the curse would continue functioning regardless of how many chains were broken.
Ashwatthama stepped closer.
"Can you understand the curse?"
"I can see what it is doing."
Devara raised his hand slightly.
"It is draining the guardian’s life force continuously. Its healing ability keeps repairing the damage, but the curse immediately takes the newly restored energy again."
He looked toward the guardian.
"It has been feeding upon you for centuries."
The guardian’s eyes slowly closed.
Devara could almost feel the exhaustion radiating from it.
He clenched his fist.
"That ends now."
The golden vision granted by Child of Destiny remained active.
For the first time, Devara could see the curse not as an impenetrable prison, but as a complicated structure with weaknesses.
And somewhere within that structure was a point he could attack.
A point that might allow him to finally sever the guardian from the curse that had held it captive for centuries.
