Chapter 341 - 341: Ch 341: Weiss and Magic

The result was quite obvious. As soon as Weiss touched the crystal ball, it started to glow without any problem and declared to Weiss that there was no need for her to worry and she was perfectly capable of learning magic and becoming a magus.

The door located in the side of the room also opened, leading Weiss to the special area. So it looked like everything was similar to all the previous times.

But Weiss did but leave the room immediately. And there was a reason for her doing this.

She lifted her hand up and the glow in the crystal immediately disappeared. Then as she put her hand on it once more, the glow appeared again.

Now, while trying this the second time, Weiss was able to finalize her speculation.

So far, among all the people who had taken the test, no one had managed to find out how this crystal ball worked. But Weiss was able to find it out.

With her senses, she had noticed the very first time how a very tiny bit of special energy was flowing inside her body from the crystal ball.

This amount was so small that without her grand knight level perception, even Weiss would not have noticed it.

Then the energy would travel through her whole body and would return back to the crystal ball once more. And as soon as the energy returned, the ball would light up.

That was how this crystal ball worked. The energy travelled extremely quickly so for the first time, Weiss was unable to perfectly sense everything. But in the second try, she was focused on sensing so she did not miss anything and became sure about how this item worked.

So from this, she guessed that for people like Evan and Elise, this energy which was most probably mana, was unable to travel through their bodies. That was why they were judged to have absolutely no talent as a magus.

Weiss also guessed that the travelling speed of the energy was different depending on the person. That was why some people needed to put their hands on the crystal ball for a longer time.

For Weiss, the travelling speed of the energy was extremely fast and her crystal ball lit up almost immediately. But Weiss had no idea if this was a good thing or a bad thing.

Normally, she would guess that faster circulation was better. But there was a possibility that faster circulation would mean instability and in that case, this fast speed would be a bad thing.

But no matter what was the truth, it did not matter to Weiss. As long as she could use magic, she would be able to do something about Elise. Weiss had at least this much confidence in herself.

So, with slightly more relaxed mind, she finally used the side door and stepped foot inside the special area.

The lady who was handling the special area was Karina Lessi. She was from a family of magus which was found by a rank 4 grand magus.

But after a huge amount to time had passed, this family had fallen completely. When Karina was born, there was only a single magus in the whole family and it was her grandfather.

There were quite a few people in the younger generation who had the talent for magic. And among those, there were one or two in every generation whose talent was considered to be good.

But no matter how good they were, after her grandfather's lucky ascension centuries ago, no one else had managed to reach the realm of a real rank 1 magi ever again.

It was almost like a curse. Throughout the whole history, there had never been two magi in the family for more than 5000 years.

There had been times when there was no magus in the family but this situation had never persisted for more than two years. This was extremely suprising and scary.

As for Karina herself, she had born with decent talents. Not top notch but definitely above average.

With this, she had managed to reach the level of a high level apprentice magus. But after reaching this level, just like everyone else in her family, she had also felt a massive wall that she could not cross.

And this had been the case for the last two years. So like most of her brother, sister and cousins, she was waiting for their grandfather to die. From the trend that they had seen in the last few generations, one of them would be able to take the last step into becoming a magi only if the grandfather was gone.

That was why, all of them, including herself were waiting.

A rank 1 magi had the lifespan of about 200 to 300 years in average and her grandfather was already 310 years old. So he could die at any moment and all the people from lower generation were waiting for exactly that to happen.
