Magus: Rise of the Darkness Empress
Chapter 335 - 335: Ch 335: Information About the Tests
Now that Sera was done explaining about all the organisations and as she was still eating, Weiss felt like she should be able to ask her more questions.
But before she could ask anything, it was Sera who spoke up first.
While happily swallowing some monster meat, she proposed something to Weiss. Rather than her asking Sera a question, how about she tell Sera about the two tests that would be taking place and what they were about.
Weiss was actually not very interested in this question. That was because she knew that no matter how this test was going to be, there was no way to prepare for it in advance even after knowing what it was. So the answer to this question was not going to bring any benefit to them.
But Weiss could see that all her other companions were very interested in learning about this. So just for their satisfaction, even though it was a little useless, she decided to accept this proposal.
So as Elise brought Sera a mushroom dish, she started to explain the tests. Evan, Elise, Taida, Toroda and Alexis all started to listen to her carefully.
The first test was going to be very simple. It was just going to find out if someone was capable of naturally using magic or not.
This was going it be a very quick test and for each participants, only one or two minutes would be more than enough.
Everyone would just need to put their hands on a crystal ball for some time and if the ball lit up, the person would pass and a special gate would open up.
But if the ball did not show any reaction after about a minute had passed, then that would mean this person the was not capable of using magic and they would fail the first round. It was unfortunate but this person would not be able to become a magi.
In this segment, suddenly, Taida interrupted Sera. He was feeling extremely shy and fearful but the question that he had in his mind was so curious and important that he was unable of hold himself back.
This could have been a problem in any other time but fortunately, at the current moment, Sera was in a great mood after eating so many good things. And she had a soft spot for cute and shy boys like Taida. So she did not mind the interruption at all and encouraged him to speak up.
With this, in a slightly shaking voice, Taida asked a very interesting question. If there was a way for magically talentless people to get magical talent somehow.
Hearing this, Sera smiled and nodded her head. Then immediately afterwards, she shook it. This was a baffling response as it felt like she was telling both yes and no at the same time.
And that was exactly what she was saying. Seeing the confusion, she smiled a little and started to explain her answer in details.
According to Sera, the most assured way to get magical talent was to use some special extremely high level herbs and such.
But as all these materials were extremely expensive and were also ingredients for various high quality alchemical items, it was almost impossible for a talentless person to get their hands on it.
And even if someone was super lucky and had managed to get their hands on this super rare thing, there were severe side effects associated with most of the items of this kind.
It could drain someone's life force in order to grant them a mediocre or even bad talent. So instead of chasing after something like this, it was actually better to just live a normal happy life.
As for other methods beside the expensive natural materials, there were a few. But these were even more dangerous and the chance of someone succeeding without losing their life was less than 5 percent.
Hearing this, Taida felt a little depressed. He was hoping to find a way for his grandfather to also become a magus but it looked like life was not that easy.
Then, Sera continued with her explanation. There was not much to say about the first test as it was so simple but that was definitely not the case for the second one.
In the second test, the magical aptitude and affinity would be measured. It was a very detailed test and each individuals would need in average about 10 or 15 minutes to finish this test.
If someone had a special talent which was extremely rare, then that would also be revealed during this test. So it was actually the main test that would be judged by the organisations when they would be making offers.
And there was no way to prepare for it or cheat just as Weiss had expected. Talents and elemental affinities were inherent things and they were not something that could be improved through training.
And there were rumours about things which could boost someone's talent but she had never found anything like that even in books. So even she had no idea if something like that even existed or not.
And even if they existed, they would not be found in a manaless world like this. So Weiss and her companions could only hope that their talent would be good enough.
...
After giving this much information, Sera started to return back to the ship. It looked like she was very satisfied with the food with how brightly she was smiling.
Weiss was also satisfied with what information she had gotten. This really been the best decision that she had made. Those foods were definitely fancy but the information she had gotten were priceless.
So there was no way she was dissatisfied with this deal.
After this, instead of having some nightly naughty fun, everyone went to bed. Tomorrow was going to be a very important day, so having a good night's sleep was very important.
...
After Sera returned back to the magic ship and entered her luxurious looking room, her two students immediately greeted her as "Magus Sera".
In the world of the magi, the only people who were called a magus were not apprentices but a true one. So it turned out that Sera was not a magus apprentice that Weiss was guessing, instead she was a full fledged witch with her own students.
