Magus: Rise of the Darkness Empress
Chapter 321 - 321: Ch 321: Negotiations Regarding Incoming Magic Ship
Before the start of the meeting and negotiations, Elise served everyone some high class green tea of this nation and various snacks that they had bought not too long ago.
Weiss and her group indulged in these tasty treats but Ushida did not. He was not worried about being poisoned and killed by the people here as they were too strong and they did not need such dirty tricks to kill someone like him.
But, he was soon going to have a discussion with the people here about something important. So there was a possibility that these foods and drinks might contain something that could make him drunk or absent minded. And that would be something terrible when he was about to have an important discussion soon.
And this was the reason why he was not eating anything. After the negotiations were over, then could then taste these treats and that way, he would not be seen as someone disrespectful.
Weiss did not mind this at all and decided to go straight to the point. This city lord looked to be some competent which was actually a good thing for her.
So Weiss started the negotiations by playing a big hand. She put a document on the table and Elise gently told Ushida to check it out. As for Sakura and others, they said nothing and continued to sip tea or munch on cookies with smiles on their faces.
Ushida picked up the document carefully and gave it a read. And as soon as he did so, his eyes widened in surprised.
This document was actually a record written by a noble. He was the third son of a neighbouring lord and his father had sent him to act as a bandit. He was currently dead but before dying, he had handed this document to his killer Weiss by his own free will.
As for his reason behind this action, there was only one. This man wanted the downfall of his father and if he could be the reason for that, then that was even better.
The information he had gathered were quite good so Weiss had decided to use it as a opening item in her negotiations.
Seeing it, Ushida was so surprised that he became suspicious about it being fake. Then he checked the writing and the seal again and again to make sure this was authentic.
After a few minutes, he was finally done with the testing. For this whole duration, Weiss had said nothing and had not disturbed him at all. For this, Ushida again bowed his head slightly and thanked Weiss.
Then he sighed a little and shrugged his shoulders. After that, in a very calm and relaxed voice, he asked -
"Miss, what do want from me ? And can you tell me the whole incident ?"
From what he said, it was clear that he had understood how valuable the items in Weiss's hand was. But before making a decision, he wanted to learn what her demands were and how she had managed to get her hands on these evidences.
This was a sensible question and it was also something that Weiss did not mind answering. She had sensed that this man had noticed who Sakura actually was but had not brought that up so far in the conversion.
There was a high possibility that he was saving this topic as a trump card and wanted to use it if he was in any disadvantage. But still, Weiss decided to not press him too hard and be more straight forward with him.
With this in her mind, she did not waste time with greetings and beating around the bush and told him about all their demands very clearly.
Weiss also needed to know if this man was actually capable of fulfilling her demands or not, so while telling him about them, she kept her senses sharp in order to moniter his emotions and feelings. This was how Weiss would know how much of her demands this man would be able to fulfill.
Weiss had three main demands. Firstly, she wanted a full schedule regarding the arrival of the magic ship. Even if the city lord did not have an exact timing, just knowing about how usually this event took place would be a great help for Weiss and her group.
Secondly, Weiss wanted to know if there was a way to meet with a magus. As this ship was landings in his city, there was a high possibility that this city lord would take advantage of this situation to get to know a real magus no matter what. And Weiss wanted to be around when he was meeting with a real magus.
And her third and final demand was for the city lord to make sure when the recruitment was happening, her group would be ahead in the line for this event. They did not need to be the first in the line but they at least wanted to be somewhere where all of them would get the opportunity to test for magical aptitude on the very first day.
...
Hearing Weiss's demands, Ushida became thoughtful. If he was being honest, her demands were not that hard to fulfill for him. As the city lord, he truly was going to get a lot of benifits after the arrival of the magic ship.
And depending on how much information these ladies had, he actually would not mind to share some of those perks with them in exchange of getting blackmail materials on his fellow lords.
So without giving Weiss any answers about if he was going to fulfill her demands or not, he asked her about how she had gotten her hands on these things. But Weiss actually did not need any answer from his mouth. Him thinking about it was enough and she already knew that all her demands were not a big deal to Ushida, the Ryukan city lord.
But Weiss was not planning to take this opportunity to demand more. She would be more than happy and satisfied with only her current demands being fulfilled.
So again, instead of lying to the city lord and making up something, Weiss clearly told him how they were attacked on the road and in retaliation, she and her group had taken care of all the fake bandits.
And in the process of doing so, they had found that these fake bandits were way too stupid and they had left all these evidences intact. And that was how Weiss had came up with the idea of giving all these evidences to him for some privileges as she had no use for the materials as she was someone from a different land.
While telling him all this, Weiss had also informed him that she had some prisoners in hand and some of them were quite famous. Hearing about them, Ushida was unable to hold back anymore and immediately agreed to her demands and finished the deal.
And that was how the negotiations came to a successful end with both parties feeling happy and satisfied at the end.
