Chapter 1867: Echoes of the Future (Extra Part 1)
"Ash, wake up."
"Let me sleep a little longer..."
Ash, lying on the table, rubbed his eyes and sat up, yawned, and leaned back, sinking into the bean bag chair. Sleepily, he glanced and noticed a streak of soft red.
Just as he was about to fall back to sleep, he suddenly woke up, eyes wide, looking at the girl in front of him.
"Sword Maiden!?"
Ash instinctively brushed his bangs to neaten his appearance, "Didn’t we arrange to meet tonight... Eh? Witch, why are you here too?"
"Can’t I be here!?" Diya grabbed a rabbit plushie and threw it at Ash, looking annoyed: "Are you upset I’m ruining your first date?"
"No," Ash’s memory gradually started to recover: "Didn’t you say it would take three days to open the Sky Gate and come to the Kingdom of Stars? Why are you here?"
Last night at Ruby Mountain, they reunited, and as soon as Ash mentioned he came to Stars to see the Sword Maiden, the Witch immediately said she wanted to come too, and then they started arguing. Ash couldn’t stand such good friends arguing over him, so he suggested they fast forward to the fighting part.
But the Witch said it would take three days, how come she surprised them just after one day?
"Ash, if you stop just focusing on those two, you’ll notice there are many people here."
Turning his head, Ash saw himself in a huge misty space, in front was a huge round table, with a book in the center, eleven people were sitting around it, each in different chairs.
The one who just reminded him was none other than Hanna, who he hadn’t seen since saying goodbye at Gospel. She was sitting in an office chair, gently touching her Purple Crystal Stone earring, and gave Ash a slight smile to greet him.
To Ash’s right was Sonia sitting on a single sofa, next to her was Diya on the Gospel Throne, and next to Diya was...
"Silver Lamp?"
Ash was stunned, but then shook his head, his voice slightly trembling: "No, you’re... Weiser?"
Next to Diya was a silver-haired girl sitting on an ethereal chair. She sat upright and expressionless, her gaze unfocused, like a ghost standing apart from the world. Upon hearing Ash’s call, she turned her head slightly to look over, then gave a slight smile, her transparent face glowing so vibrantly it was as if a painting had come to life.
"Ash." Weiser smiled, "It’s me."
Ash let out a groan as if squeezed from the folds of his soul, rubbed his eyes hard, crying and laughing: "I knew it, you wouldn’t just die like that... Thank goodness, really thank goodness..."
"Can’t you two find a kindergarten to play house, instead of embarrassing yourselves here?"
Ash looked over, rage instantly filling him, trying to leap up: "Vishi!!!"
Next to Weiser, on the Throne of Chains, was Vishi!
She wore a dark long dress, her twin ponytails hanging down at both sides, legs crossed, leaning against the chair back, her expression cold like a venomous snake.
"Don’t waste your energy,"
Vishi said coldly: "If we could fight, you would have been killed by me long ago."
Only then did Ash realize he couldn’t use magic power, couldn’t sense Technique Spirit, and his body was fixed to the chair, unable to stand up. He quickly calmed down, realizing he’d been swept into an incomprehensible event.
Next to Vishi was a woman on the Star Ring Throne, sitting silently, showing no inclination to join the discussion.
Beside her was the obviously flustered Felix, and even without mentioning the loss of magic power, the mere strength of a Two-winged Mage couldn’t bring her any sense of security.
Beside Felix was Tamasi, dressed as always in the Ya Sha Jin outfit, sitting on the Skull Throne. When she met Ash’s gaze, Tamasi nodded slightly. They hadn’t been apart for long, as Senluo’s fall, the Black Crow guarding Thousand Wishes, and Ash entering the Stars all happened the day before, but they cared more about each other’s safety than anyone else. There were indeed many things they wished to say, but seeing the other unharmed was enough.
Next to Tamasi was Hanna, beside Hanna was a black-haired red-eyed girl unfamiliar to Ash, and beside the black-haired red-eyed girl, to Ash’s left, was a very quiet Meiwa.
"Freyja?" Ash was slightly taken aback, then smiled: "Long time no see! You’ve become so much prettier and cuter, I almost didn’t recognize you."
Freyja gazed at him blankly, unable to speak, until Siflin poked her waist, bringing her back to reality, tears already streaming down her face for some reason, she wiped her eyes while sobbing: "A-Ash, it’s been... sorry..."
"Why are you apologizing?" Ash chuckled, reaching out to wipe Freyja’s tears: "Reuniting after a long time should be happy, right? Don’t cry, you’re becoming a little crying cat."
Freyja nodded heavily, though she cried like raindrops on a pear blossom, her smile remained breathtakingly bright, grabbing Ash’s wrist silly, her cuteness melting the hearts of onlookers.
"Since you left the Blood Moon, she’s been chasing after you." The black-haired red-eyed girl said: "Just because you can recognize her, she’s content."
"So it’s you, [222]!" Ash was surprised: "You’re here too!"
Siflin was shocked: "How did you recognize me? You haven’t even met—"
"Your voice, you’re my first friend, how could I forget your voice." Ash smiled: "Seems like you and Freyja are good friends, thank you for taking care of her."
