Chapter 189- Shameless Little Sl*t
Chapter 189: 189- Shameless Little Sl*t
Third-Person POV:
Angela stood in the doorway, looking at the two people she had trusted enough to welcome into her life.
Chris was sitting on the edge of the bed, his head buried in both hands. He hadn’t looked at her properly since she’d walked in.
Ava, meanwhile, was hurriedly pulling the bedsheet over her bare body. Her hair was a mess, and she kept glancing between Chris and Angela as though she didn’t know what to say.
But Angela had seen enough.
She had felt a terrible pain in her chest while sleeping, so sharp that she’d woken up struggling to breathe. At first, she’d thought something was seriously wrong with her. Then she’d noticed Chris wasn’t beside her.
She’d gone looking for him, and now she wished she hadn’t.
"I’m sorry, Angela," Ava began, holding the sheet against her chest. "Please believe me. None of this was intentional."
Angela didn’t answer.
"Chris only came here because he heard me crying. I was missing my parents, and he was trying to comfort me. We were talking, and then..." Ava glanced at Chris, who still hadn’t said a word. "One thing led to another. It just happened."
It just happened?
Angela wanted to scream at her. How did two people accidentally end up in bed together? Ava wiped her eyes, although Angela couldn’t see any tears.
"It didn’t mean anything, Angela. I swear. You’re still the Luna. You’re his wife, and nothing is going to change that."
Angela was about to speak when she caught something on Ava’s face. A sarcastic smirk. It lasted barely a second before Ava lowered her head again, pretending to be ashamed.
Angela couldn’t believe it. The woman was enjoying this.
"I’ll leave tomorrow," Ava continued quickly. "I promise. I’ll go back to my grandmother, and you’ll never have to see me again. Please don’t ruin your marriage because of me."
Angela looked at Chris, waiting for him to say something. Anything. But he remained seated, rubbing his forehead as though he was the one who was facing injustice.
She wanted to drag them both out of the house. She wanted to scream until every guard and servant knew what their new Alpha had done. Instead, she stood there, trying to understand how everything had gone so wrong.
Only a few weeks ago, Chris had been the man who couldn’t keep his hands off her. He would tell her how lucky he was to have found his fated mate. Now he couldn’t even bring himself to look at her.
Angela had fallen in love with that man, but looking at him sitting on another woman’s bed, she could barely recognize him anymore.
Unable to think of anything to say, Angela returned to her bedroom with her shoulders slumped. She locked the door from inside and sat on the edge of the bed, still struggling to believe what she’d just witnessed.
Somewhere deep down, she hoped Chris would come after her. Perhaps he would realize what he’d done, knock on her door, and beg her to forgive him. She kept listening for his footsteps in the hallway, but Chris never came.
Eventually, Angela lay down, wondering what she was supposed to do now. Her father was gone, her marriage was falling apart, and she had no idea what her future would look like.
She couldn’t remember when she finally fell asleep. By the time she woke up, sunlight was streaming through the curtains. She reached for the clock beside her bed and was surprised to find that it was almost noon.
She hadn’t eaten anything since the previous evening, but the thought of food made her feel sick. As she came downstairs, she heard laughter coming from the kitchen.
She recognized Chris’s voice immediately.
For a moment, she stopped, wondering how he could be laughing after what had happened last night. Then she heard Ava.
Angela walked straight toward the kitchen. Chris was standing near the counter with a cup of coffee in his hand, while Ava sat on one of the stools, laughing at something he’d just said. A plate of white sauce pasta was in front of her, and several Omegas were busy preparing food around them.
Neither of them looked particularly upset. Angela couldn’t believe it. "Are you two seriously sitting here laughing?"
Her voice was loud enough to make everyone turn. Chris looked surprised. "Angela? You’re awake?"
"Don’t you dare act surprised to see me!" she snapped, walking farther into the kitchen. "What the hell is wrong with you, Chris?"
Ava immediately lowered her head, putting down the fork she’d been holding.
"Angela, is something wrong?" she asked innocently.
"Shut your mouth!" Angela shouted. "I wasn’t talking to you! And why are you still here?"
One of the Omegas accidentally knocked a spoon against a bowl. The sound made Angela notice that everyone had stopped working, but she was too angry to care.
"You slept with another woman last night, Chris! In our own house! And here you are, having breakfast with her as if nothing happened?"
Ava was shocked as she looked at Chris. "What is she talking about?"
"Don’t you dare!" Angela pointed at her. "I saw you both with my own eyes!"
"Angela, lower your voice," Chris said, putting his coffee down.
"Why should I? Are you embarrassed that your servants might find out what their precious Alpha has been doing?" The Omegas exchanged uncomfortable glances. Some lowered their heads, while others stood frozen beside the counters.
They had known Angela since she was a child. Even when she was upset, she had always spoken to them politely. None of them had ever heard her raise her voice like this, let alone shout at the Alpha in front of everyone.
Chris seemed equally stunned. He quickly approached her and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her against his chest.
"Hey, sweetheart. Calm down," he said gently, rubbing her back. "I’ve been waiting for you to wake up. I didn’t want to disturb you because I thought you were exhausted."
Angela pushed against his chest. "Don’t touch me!" Chris loosened his hold, looking genuinely confused.
"Angela, what’s gotten into you? Did you have another bad dream?"
Angela couldn’t believe what she’d just heard. "A dream? You think what I saw last night was a dream? You were in Ava’s bed!"
Ava gasped.
"Angela!" Chris sounded horrified. "What are you saying?"
Ava stood up, looking close to tears. "Luna, I would never do something like that. Chris has always been my friend, but he’s your husband. How could you even think that?"
Angela took a step toward her. "Shut up, you shameless little slut!"
