Chapter 1927: Giving What the Heart Desire

Utnapishtim is called by different names in different traditions, Odin said to him. There is Ziusudra, Life of Long Days, rendered Xisuthros in Berossus.

His name is also called Shuruppak after his city. There is Atrahasis (exceedingly wise) and Utnapishtim

His father the king Ubar Tutu (Friend of the God Tutu)

Odin said that the Flood was a punishment.

Azief was certainly shocked.

It is not wrong to called it a punishment to humanity

“The One and Only did this? Why?” Azief did not understand it,

What did Utnapishtim did?

Odin told him what that being does with a wry smile

“Utnapishtim created a city even grander than the one that Gilgamesh had created. Gilgamesh actually created his city based on the city of Utnapishtim”

“He created a civilization unlike any other in the ancient times. Cities that sprawled ten thousand islands, his metal birds flying all over the sky all over the world, supervising the world for him, he extracted the magic and energy of this world to stave off the limiter that is holding him back”

“And his people are warlike”

“He made the mortals of this world filled with bloodlust and full of greed. Greed and profit number one eroding any humanity and trust. The soul then become tainted. And for a being like mortals, a soul blessed, there is nothing more tragic than letting that soul rots and becoming dirty”

“And because of the technology he brought, he enslaved all kinds of beast and all kinds of people”

“Living life at that time is nothing more like a beast kept in captivity”

“Living is not living, and being free is an act of rebellion”

At that time, all over the world, before the Great Flood, there is all kinds of alien beings all over the world. But none of them created a city, nor do they stay long. The reason is not to affect humanity itself, and their own potential”

And Azief could guess what Utnapishtim did

Odin continue his words

“Utnapishtim rob humanity of these potential. And his influence covered the whole world. The One And Only probably could see that if he allowed Utnapishtim to continue, humanity itself would have its potential drained”

Odin closed his eyes and sighed

“It was only later I understood. That Utnapishtim was fearful of humans. And their potential. And that is what he did what he did. So, the Great Flood happened. Wherever there is the influence of Utnapishtim, there is rain from the sky, pouring down on it wand washing everything. No magic at that time could withstand these divine wrath wrapped in every rain drop”

“Everything that is corrupted is cleansed”

Azief did not shout unjust or cruel. Because he had seen worlds that has been corrupted before.

Ina society of corrupt people, great virtue would be supressed and there is no soil for good.

Corrupt society would only breed more and more corrupt people.

And from what Odin told him, with Utnapishtim interference, there is no good people to stand up and fight the good fight

All that is left is corrupted people, corrupting good more and more. Good is then viewed as the wrong thing

Killing become a norm, evil and unrestrained freedom to act on lust and every vice of the heart turns human more base than animals

Naked and proud, sinful and proud.

Corruption all over the world.

Corrupted people spawning more and more, good losing the fight more and more, kindness could not take soil, any human mortal that tries to restrain the vices of the heart is branded as old fashioned and an obstacle

When in fact it is only these mortals that know that desire would always destroy people if they could not be reined in

They are the people who shouts to the people at the edge of the cliff not to jump.

They did not want people to progress forward not because they fear change but because in front of them is an abyss and these corrupted people is standing on the edge of a cliff, about to jump down an abyss that they never would come back from

And so, the flood washes away all of their monuments to evil.

The tens of thousands of head beheaded and was created as a monument is washed away, all of their blood money and blood profit, all of their weapons that they are proud of washed away like they have never existed in the first place

“All things that have the touch of Utnapishtim is melted away, leaving no trace. Those who did not get influenced by him is safe and sound and Utnapishtim suffers great injuries and have to rest in a divine river to recuperate”

“Utnapishtim wanted to enslave all of humanity and shackle their mind. He did not dare to wipe out humanity because he knows if he did that, that is the breaking of rules of all rules. If Utnapishtim did that, the One And Only could also broke the rules. Well, if its Him, it could not be said that He broke the rules. After all, He is the rule. He is the one making the rule and He is the only one have the power to enforce it”

“Do you think that He was cruel?”

Azief did not say anything at that time but his silence already revealed everything he is feeling

Odin answer to him was these sentences, the body is impermanent, the soul is immortal. All living beings is created by Him and when they die, they would return to Him

Odin said, since Azief did not reach the realm that he did, there is of course many things he did not understand.

Some things should not be judged so easily and Azief also knows this

The world is not so simple the more you reached a higher realm.

It is also the same in life even if you did not have godlike power. Azief once were an Emperor and he understood intrigue and all these dark methods.

Even the most virtuous men could suffer a thousand-year humiliation because of a pen dipped in ink, slandering him in the past, and even the most corrupt person could be praised for a thousand years.

Who will judge them? The future generations who could not even be bothered to even open one page of the history books?

How could they know the ins and out to judge a person a thousand years away from them.

Even the rights and wrong of the present is hard to judge, even more so a thousand years away from them

The future generation that would not even know the stories of so many lost civilizations?

Azief look at the era before the Great Flood and while some of them are so decadent that it disgust him, there are also civilizations that is developing

But the great Flood itself come from the effect of human activity itself. The Earth responded in kind and it gave warning long before the Flood came

There was storms, tornadoes, earthquakes and tsunamis. All warning signs to those who observes and listen

The One for All seems to maintain his own rule in Earth

Everything has a cause and effect that could be traced back to the actions of the beings on Earth.

If you exploit Earth resources, this and that would happen.

However, while the Flood was a natural event that is magnified with the one and All interference, the rain that falls and melts all traces of Utnapishtim is magic in itself

Because the things that Utnapishtim leave behind as his legacy, are all magical things.

And the disasters of Earth, if using the rules and laws of Earth that did not have magic coded into it, it also means Utnapishtim evil artifact would continue to corrupt

The beings above Earth did not want to hinder humanity progress. But they also knows not to give progress before they are ready to accept it

Like you would not give a child the control of the most powerful weapon in your world, that is also the same kind of thought process the other beings have for humanity

The mental journey, the maturity to handle certain knowledge must be sharpened first, before some divine knowledge could be revealed.

They were so many stories of those who seek knowledge but did not have the right heart to accept it. Each of these stories always ends with the demise and tragedy of such person

Humans were not ready for the knowledge that Utnapishtim gave them. And Utnapishtim knows this

Utnapishtim desire was never to give the fire of knowledge to humans. It was to give them a temptation that would lead them to ruin their kind and to ruin their ship

And what is the ship of humanity?

Earth. Earth is that ship, the cradle that is blessed, protected.

Utnapishtim method was not to let the people worship him or make them fear him, or force them to do something for him

Instead, what he did was to give what the human heart desires.

And the things about desires is, not many could withstand it.
