Lord of Prayer
Chapter 761: The Funny Ball
Chapter 761 -483: The Funny Ball
There are two more True Gods.
Just that one sentence was enough to put the Star Association on high alert. They raised the danger level of the Divine War Ruins to the maximum and notified the Dream Lord and the Goddess of Life to be on emergency standby.
“According to the current Ascension Level classifications, both of them are True Gods,” Ma Youcai said. “They’re international fugitives. One is an extreme sadist and masochist who tortured and killed over five hundred people after gaining his Extraordinary Ability. His ability is Absolute Regeneration—no matter how severe his injuries, he can heal rapidly. We once tried to kill him with a miniature nuclear bomb, but we failed.
The other is a psychopath with a dual personality who used to be a surgeon. He had one good and one evil personality, but the evil, bloodthirsty, and cruel personality eventually killed the good one… His Extraordinary Ability is ‘Cutting,’ and it’s activated by touching the target with a scalpel.”
“We were originally on a mission in South Africa when suddenly, all the Transcendents in the city lost control. They started fighting each other, a total bloodbath. Thinking back, the three of us lost control too. We just jumped into the fray without really knowing why…” Ma Youcai paused, then added with some uncertainty, “I have a faint feeling that some unknown power was influencing my mind…”
‘An unknown power influencing the mind?’ Tang Ling made a mental note of this. This was brand-new intel. None of the Demigods captured from the Divine War Ruins before had ever mentioned it, nor had the Dreamwalkers who Entered the Dream detected this anomaly. The influence must have been too subtle to be noticed.
Ma Youcai’s Spiritual Power and Perception Power were both considered exceptionally high among Demigods. Perhaps it was this unique gift that allowed him to notice the slight anomaly.
This raised another question.
What was this mysterious, unknown influence that made all the Transcendents fight each other? And where did it come from?
Suddenly, an Any Door materialized out of thin air. The door opened, revealing a scene behind it that seemed to be veiled by a rippling surface of water, blurry and indistinct. Not even the vision of a Demigod could penetrate it.
Immediately after, a yellow sphere about half a person’s height slowly rolled out of the door. The moment everyone saw it, a profound sense of satisfaction washed over them—it was a perfectly flawless sphere, so perfect it brought a sense of joy that resonated deep within their souls.
The yellow sphere rolled slowly before the crowd and came to a steady halt. Then, an all-too-familiar expression materialized on its surface.
A smirk held a hint of playfulness; the playfulness, a hint of creepiness; and the creepiness, a hint of something more, left unsated. The slanted, smiling eyes seemed to mock all of creation, instantly turning the atmosphere bizarre.
“Is that a… Funny Face?” everyone asked, completely stunned.
Appearing before the Demigods was none other than the classic emoji—the Funny Face!
“This isn’t just any Funny Face. It’s a special weapon secretly developed by the Star Association—the Funny Face Ball!” Tang Ling explained with a perfectly straight face.
“How weird. I feel like it’s mocking me.” The Cherub walked over, tapped the Funny Face Ball, and circled it, examining it from all angles. “A perfect sphere. I can’t tell what it’s made of, and I don’t sense any energy fluctuations… Don’t tell me this thing’s ability is to make its enemies die of laughter?”
“Of course not. Have you ever heard the saying—”
A brilliant, multicolored light suddenly erupted from Tang Ling. In the next instant, she transformed from a three-dimensional being into a two-dimensional paper cutout. Her entire appearance shifted from a realistic, mechanical style to that of a 2D anime character, complete with exaggerated sound and light effects.
“—Never compare the power levels of characters from a gag anime!”
“…”
In the silence, everyone just looked bewildered.
The Mad King raised his hand. “My brain’s not so good. Can you just get to the point?”
“Fine. It’s an S-Level Forbidden Object that integrates the authority of ████, ██████, and ██. When activated, it creates a ‘Funny Face Barrier.’ Inside the Barrier, the art style becomes just like a gag anime. Even a True God would need some time to escape it.
Don’t be fooled by its strange appearance and apparent lack of offensive power. In terms of sheer danger, it actually ranks higher than the Lance of Longinus.”
Aside from the three Old Era Demigods, the others weren’t too surprised and quickly composed themselves. The scholars in the Star Association’s secret departments were all daring to a fault, churning out an unimaginable amount of black-box technology. Any single one of their creations was a game-changer. They had seen so many incredible things that the Funny Face Ball barely registered as impressive.
In fact, there was a creation far more terrifying and bizarre than the Funny Face Ball right in front of them—the Godslaying Weapon!
“You should have just said that from the start. Also, why did it have to be a Funny Face?” the Cherub asked, confused.
“Probably one of the researchers’ peculiar hobbies,” Tang Ling said with a shrug.
As they spoke, figures in hazmat suits emerged from the Any Door. They quickly secured the three subdued Old Era Demigods and withdrew in an orderly fashion.
“The Dream Lord is in position. It will first attempt to pull those two True Gods into a dream. If all goes well, we just need to sit back and watch the show,” Tang Ling told the group.
“Let’s hope it does,” the Cherub agreed. He had no desire to fight a True God, even if they were just fakes who had Power but no Divine Position.
The seconds ticked by, but nothing happened. The silence was unnerving, like the calm before a storm.
Ma Youcai and the other two stared blankly at the ruined city before them, a sense of melancholy and sorrow welling up inside. A hundred years had passed. Everything they had known in their time was gone—family, relatives, friends… The only connection they had to their past was likely their former colleague, Zhang Tao. A feeling of aimlessness and loneliness washed over them.
