Chapter 294 203: Time Overlap, Part 2

In the years 174 N.C. and 234 N.C., two separate groups of people were researching the Eternal Life Machine. In their respective time periods, they activated this massive Space-Time Instrument, and the resulting burst of temporal energy resonated along the timeline, forcing open a Space-Time Tunnel.

The first activation probably didn’t last long, only causing his transmigration. This, however, was the second activation—undoubtedly the time for the Spirit of the End to execute its plan.

The Spirit of the End first spread its corruption in secret, causing Nightmare contamination to erupt from reality itself. This allowed the Spirit Realm to gradually merge with reality, greatly weakening reality’s “barrier.” After that, the Eternal Life Machine was activated for the second time, and the Time Tunnel opened. The now-vulnerable reality, riddled with holes, could not withstand the surging temporal torrent. And so, the future descended.

Now, the space-time of the two eras were overlapping, falling into chaos.

If the future and the past were allowed to merge completely, it would likely cause a devastating disaster, such as the collapse of the timeline. When that happened, it wouldn’t just be Hong City; the entire World would be affected.

This was the Spirit of the End’s world-destroying plan. As an ancient Evil Spirit bearing the forbidden knowledge of the Abyss, he was fully capable of such a feat.

To be worthy of the name “End”—it was clearly no pushover.

“Lin Yun’s calling back!”

Just then, a pleasantly surprised Li Xiye answered her phone and put it on speaker.

“I knew you were my guy! To think a scene this big is related to you! Give me your coordinates later, and I’ll hook you up with some BGM!” The tone in Lin Yun’s voice on the other end was full of excitement. There was no hint of tension from the impending doom, but rather a thread of thrill.

“I saw the message you guys sent. Don’t worry about the curse. Don’t you dare underestimate me! The Life-saving Talismans I gave you aren’t just for show. Just go wild.”

A series of rumbles came from Lin Yun’s end, as if she were in a fight. “And that Spirit of the End thing, don’t worry too much about it either. That stupid book is called *████*… Oh, sorry, I forgot there’s a memetic block, so you can’t hear it. He was severely wounded by the Star Association many years ago, so his power is a shadow of its former self. He’s only at Tier Two now. He just happens to know a lot of forbidden knowledge, but with his limited strength, he basically can’t use any of it.”

“‘Only’ Tier Two? You call *that* Tier Two?” Zhou Chen was speechless as he recalled the terrifying, dark torrent. They had almost been corrupted by it!

“The Spirit Realm is his home turf, so of course he’s stronger than you there. In the real world, you could go up and give him a few good slaps and beat him so bad his own mother wouldn’t recognize him.” Lin Yun’s style had absolutely nothing in common with a Goddess. It was hard to imagine that this person would one day become the King of Music, renowned for her elegance and artistry.

“…”

Zhou Chen wanted to speak but hesitated, lost in thought. ‘If I had just mobilized the power of my Wishing Divine Kingdom and attacked, could I have caught the Spirit of the End by surprise and annihilated it?’

Unfortunately, he hadn’t known this information earlier. Otherwise, he definitely would have acted decisively to eliminate the threat once and for all.

Lin Yun’s tone was relaxed as she said, “Anyway, don’t panic. The Prophet’s behavior after the prophecy shows that this is in the bag. Besides, the fact that the future you’re from hasn’t collapsed is the best proof that this whole thing gets resolved perfectly.

One more very important thing: the Eternal Life Machine is in the International Financial Mansion. Destroying the machine will close the Time Tunnel. I’m leaving this arduous task of saving the world to you.”

“What about the Star Association?” Zhou Chen asked instinctively. ‘How could a mere Tier Two like me possibly be up to the task?’

The other end of the line was filled with noise, with booms and the roars of giant beasts. “A ton of creatures from the Spirit Realm have escaped over here. Most of our people are tied up dealing with this stuff and can’t break away. But don’t worry, we’ll have people heading your way too. There’s a Blood Race Prince there. We won’t let you go on a suicide mission.

You two can go wild, but remember to be careful, ‘kay?”

With that, Lin Yun hung up.

Zhou Chen and Li Xiye looked at each other, speechless.

After Lin Yun’s little performance, all their panic and sense of urgency had vanished.

“Let’s go.” Li Xiye’s fighting spirit was rekindled. Although there was still a time bomb in her soul, she trusted the Life-saving Talisman Lin Yun had given her.

Zhou Chen was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice, “You… you still shouldn’t go. It’s too dangerous.”

“No. If this is the main quest, then tonight will be our last time together.”

She gazed at Zhou Chen and gave a brilliant smile. “I don’t want this experience to have any regrets. I want to go on this one last adventure with you. Please, grant me this wish, okay?”

After a long moment of staring into each other’s eyes, Zhou Chen nodded. Li Xiye immediately broke into a radiant smile, patted his shoulder, and declared with gusto:

“Let’s do this, Aibo!”

“Your hairstyle isn’t suited for card games.”

Zhou Chen’s gaze shifted to the side, where the enormous remains of the Illusion Dream Flower from the Dream Realm stood.

The Illusion Dream Flower itself was a rare flower that lived in the Spirit Realm and could be brought out after being picked. This corrupted Illusion Dream Flower could likewise be removed from the Spirit Realm.

“WOOF!”

With a bark, the now-awakened dog ran over with Angela on its back.

“Perfect. We were short a driver.”

Zhou Chen smiled faintly, walked over, and reached out to touch the remains of the Illusion Dream Flower. A layer of pale white flames ignited, engulfing the massive flower.

The forging began.

Decomposition of All Things!

The Illusion Dream Flower instantly shattered. Zhou Chen transferred all of the Dark Essence to a nearby car. Nightmare and calamity began to coalesce, wantonly reshaping the car’s exterior and interior.

In just a moment, the transformation was complete.

The dog threw its head back and let out a joyous howl. The husky, tongue lolling, sprinted over and circled the Chariot excitedly. You’d never guess this dog held two master’s degrees.

“Slow down… Slow down…” Angela, on its back, was nearly thrown off and hastily grabbed a handful of fur.

The car had become a true Hell Tank. Its front was a massive, pitch-black metal dog’s head with sharp Tusks. The four wheels bristled with wasteland punk-style spikes, its armor was extremely thick, and wild flame decals adorned its sides. The whole thing looked bizarre, like a ferocious beast poised to strike.

“No time to explain, get in!”

“WOOF!”

The dog took the lead, leaping into the driver’s seat. ‘A fine Chariot like this should be driven by a professional!’

Zhou Chen and Li Xiye got into the back seat. They would be passing through many dangerous areas on their way and would need someone to protect them.

After the earlier commotion, quite a few creatures had escaped from the Spirit Realm, including many Nightmare Monsters. Tearing through the streets at a time like this was like lighting a conspicuous fire in the Darkness—it was bound to attract bloodthirsty monsters.

“WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!”

After three loud barks, the husky, tongue lolling, stomped on the gas. The engine let out a deafening roar as the beast was unleashed.

It pressed a button on the car stereo. The car’s previous owner had good taste, with a collection of sufficiently explosive rock music.

To the rhythm of the rock music, the Hell Tank went on a rampage through the streets. Its powerful construction made it like a main battle tank, freely crushing the abandoned vehicles blocking the road.

“AWOOO!!!”

The dog was ecstatic, unable to hold back an atavistic howl. It was crushing everything in its path to dust! This completely unleashed its true husky nature!

Zhou Chen and Li Xiye couldn’t help but smile, humming along to the music from the stereo: “I’m on the highway to hell…”

Their actions were far too conspicuous. The loud rock music and the roar of the engine spread far and wide, attracting the attention of the Spirit Realm creatures wandering through Hong City. And so, wherever the speeding Hell Tank passed, countless monsters poured out from the streets and alleys, roaring as they gave chase, like an apocalypse straight out of Resident Evil.

Among them were familiar Nightmare Monsters like the Skinless and Soul Eaters. They were now able to leave the Nightmare and walk in reality. There were also many other creatures they had never seen before, all bizarrely shaped, converging from all directions into a frenzied tide of monsters bent on their destruction.

This was, in the truest sense, a highway to Hell.
