Chapter 464: Chapter 212: Fighting on Two Fronts

"Chief Kuer, how are your warriors’ preparations coming along?"

Robson looked toward the Beastmen’s camp, at an earth goblin chieftain.

There was no helping it. After the last bloodlust, most of the Jackal Wolfman Warriors were now in a weakened state.

It wasn’t that they were unusable. Thanks to Robson’s conditioning of meat with every meal, the Jackal Wolfman Warriors were recovering quite quickly.

However, most of them had not fully recovered to their peak combat effectiveness. They were roughly one tier lower in strength.

Although this was still a considerable force, Robson now understood how precious the Gnolls were and didn’t dare use these treasures as consumables.

Fortunately, the earth goblins hadn’t suffered significant losses in the last war.

The earth goblin tribe now had over two thousand warriors at Tier Four or above.

Adding Chief Mole’s Mountain Rock Bear Race to the mix, it would be more than enough.

Hearing this, Chief Kuer’s expression grew excited.

A rumor was currently circulating among the troops under Robson’s command.

Fighting under the emissary would earn one the blessing of a great power.

For the human soldiers, more experience was needed, and the changes were gradual, so it wasn’t obvious to everyone.

But it was different for races like the Gnolls.

When they fought under Robson, some soldiers seemed to change overnight!

Chief Kuer had also carefully observed the warriors in his own tribe and had noticed the same changes.

On the Beastman Grassland, everyone worshiped the strong. "The strong are revered" was the creed of the grasslands.

Now, Robson was offering them a path to become stronger, and all the tribes were flocking to it.

"My lord, we await your summons," Chief Kuer said.

Robson nodded.

"When the time comes, I will send someone to coordinate with you. Once the dragon takes to the sky, you can launch your attack from the flank," Robson said.

"Understood," said Chief Kuer.

After the Beastmen had left, Robson turned to the other human commanders inside the tent.

The noble lords puffed out their chests.

No matter what strange schemes Robson had cooked up on the grasslands, and no matter how much conflict there had been between them before...

There was one thing all the human nobles had to admit: serving under Lord Robson was like picking up military merits for free!

Even the great General Grantham had never been this outrageous!

Although General Grantham’s command was godlike, in the early days, the casualty rate of the troops under him had always been persistently high.

But in Robson’s army, they rarely saw that.

Since the start of the expedition, they had wiped out an entire Beastman Royal Court, but the number of nobles who had died was only one!

And that unlucky soul had died in Julian City. After arriving on the Beastman Grassland, they had basically heard no news of any other nobles perishing.

"The Beastman forces are more familiar with the grasslands than we are.

Those Tiger Race People seem to only know that the Centaurs were defeated, but not the details. I’ve already had our Beastmen set out in advance to lie in wait on the Tiger Race People’s inevitable retreat path."

"Now, our task is to launch a frontal assault..."

"Bo Yang, you will be in charge of the Magic Crystal Cannon battery. Ais, you will command Corps Four through Eight.

Count Valentino and Claude, you will lead the Cavalry Team and be ready to charge at any moment..."

Robson’s orders came one after another.

The arrangements were basically unchanged from before. The biggest change was probably assigning Ais to command Corps Four through Eight. In the past, Ais had always been responsible for the First Corps.

After being tempered through this period, it was time for Ais to be exposed to greater responsibilities.

The noble lords each accepted their orders.

Normally, nobles on the battlefield retained a certain degree of autonomy. A Main Commander could assign tasks, but couldn’t issue orders directly to the rank and file.

There was no way around it; this was a limitation of a Noble Alliance Army.

But, as mentioned, Robson’s prestige within the army was simply too great now. A commander who always led everyone to victory was the one soldiers respected most.

Even if Robson gave an order they couldn’t understand, most of them would probably assume they had simply failed to grasp Lord Robson’s deeper meaning.

’After all, how could the Lord be wrong?’

...

At Robson’s command, the entire military camp erupted into a flurry of activity.

By now, all the corps had spent some time serving directly under Robson.

From the First Corps to the Eighth, everyone had profoundly felt the tangible benefits that Robson’s military reforms had brought them.

This was especially true for the Algeria Corps, which had arrived later.

One must understand that while the Frank Kingdom was traditional in its thinking, its social mobility was the highest among the major kingdoms!

Every year, there were stories of commoners from the kingdom defying their fate through war and becoming noble lords.

In the south, however, a noble was a noble, and a peasant was a peasant.

The older the Empire, the more deeply ingrained this concept was.

After the previous battle, Robson had immediately handed out rewards and enfeoffments.

It was the first time the Algerians had ever heard that a peasant could become a noble lord!

This alone was enough to make countless Algerians throw themselves into the fray, charging forward one after another.

During this time, everyone had been itching for a fight, just waiting for a battle to start so they could earn military merit.

Currently, the first three corps were basically filled with Tier Four soldiers, and the following four corps also had a considerable number of Tier Four sergeants.

These eight thousand men, no matter where they were placed, could basically be called an elite force.

The entire army completed its assembly in just half an hour, from start to finish.

And this was an army of eight thousand men!

...

「Meanwhile, in the Tigerman camp.」

The camp of the twenty-thousand-strong legion stretched for miles. The Tiger Race People were on the east, while the Beastmen guarding Madar Mountain were on the west.

The scene of the Tiger Race People retreating that Robson had witnessed earlier was only the elite core of the Tiger Race army—the personal guard of the Tiger Race Prince, Trilman.

At that moment, in the main command tent in the center of the Tiger Race army, dozens of commanders from the Tiger Race, the Beastmen, and others were all gathered.

As everyone entered the tent, they saw a large, powerfully built Tigerman with broad shoulders and a thick waist seated in the position of honor.

He was dressed in opulent finery, and at his waist hung a Golden Tier magic weapon.

This was the main commander of the operation, the Prince of the Tiger Race, Trilman.

The commanders looked below Trilman’s seat and saw a Centaur. The Centaur’s left arm was severed, and with his hair disheveled, he cut a rather pathetic figure.

These Tiger Race soldiers had no Magic Towers, and General Quintus hadn’t sent a message to the Tiger Race Royal City before he died.

Seeing this scene, everyone exchanged glances, not understanding what was going on.
