Lord: I Grind EXP with Warband Panel
Chapter 462 - 210: Gray Dwarves
Chapter 462: Chapter 210: Gray Dwarves
"It’s the Gray Dwarves!"
At that moment, Valentino also noticed something was wrong.
On the wing of the griffin in the sky was a hammer—the symbol of the Gray Dwarves Royal Court.
"Hm?"
Robson was puzzled. ’What are the Gray Dwarves doing here? Reconnaissance? Are they scouting me? Isn’t that a bit too brazen?’
The other nobles hadn’t yet noticed the abnormality in the sky. They still thought the griffin belonged to the Fengman Clan. After all, not everyone would take the time to look at their emblem.
The Gray Dwarf griffin circled in the sky once before flying off into the distance.
’They come and go as they please?’
Robson was astonished.
’On second thought, I can’t really blame my soldiers for not being more alert.’ The Beastmen usually used Thunderhawks for reconnaissance. Moreover, armies in this world didn’t have a strong sense of air defense. At most, they would send their own flying units to drive the enemy away, and that was it.
The griffin hadn’t even entered the attack range of their ballistae.
Valentino and Robson exchanged a look.
"I’ll ride Everton and go take a look," Robson said.
The Gray Dwarves were a world away. ’What are they doing here? And so openly, too.’ Robson remembered that intelligence from the central front had mentioned the Gray Dwarves seemed to have already broken free from the Beastman Emperor’s control.
"Okay, I’ll have a Griffin Knight go with you," Valentino said.
"No need. Everton can fly over two thousand meters high. I’ll just go see where those Gray Dwarves are so we can be prepared," Robson said.
’The other side can’t possibly follow me up to two thousand meters, can they?’
The noble lords didn’t know what was happening. Sir Robson had just returned, and before they could even catch up, he had flown off on his great dragon.
However, after a burst of chattering, no one said much more.
Whatever Sir Robson did, there was bound to be a profound meaning behind it. If they didn’t understand, it must be because their own comprehension was lacking.
Robson rode Everton into the sky. With a series of twists and turns, Everton flew directly above the griffin rider.
Huang Na was right beside Robson.
This was the source of Robson’s confidence in flying out alone.
Aerial combat was different from battles on the ground. The ground was for legion warfare, but there were no large-scale legions in the sky. Even if there were, as long as one was powerful enough, escaping was a very easy matter.
Robson himself was at the Golden Ninth Tier. Everton’s injuries were now mostly healed, and Huang Na had reached the Golden Eighth Tier. With such high-end combat power, if Lord Robson wanted to flee, the enemy would have no chance of stopping him unless they had three flying Legendary-Tier Magical Beasts.
"Whoa! Robson, look! What’s that!"
Huang Na cried out in surprise.
Robson followed her gaze.
His eyes widened when he saw the object in the distance.
’Isn’t that...’
’An airship!’
In the distant sky, a house-like object was flying.
This wasn’t the first time Robson had seen such a thing; he had encountered one before when he rescued Prince Noah and Princess Yifulei.
The airship before him was old and dilapidated, completely incomparable to the one belonging to the Algerian Royal Family.
Moreover, the Algerian Royal Family’s vessel flew at an altitude of two thousand meters, while this one...
It was a thousand meters up, and that was Robson being generous.
The airship seemed to have spotted Robson, and something flew out from inside it.
The small object flew quite fast, and in no time, it was in Robson’s hand.
’These Gray Dwarves really are Dwarves, always building these strange contraptions.’
Robson opened the letter and saw that it was an invitation.
’Monroe, the Gray Dwarven King?’
"General Robson! It is better to see you in person than to just hear of you. A young hero indeed! Your reputation is well-deserved!"
Robson didn’t have to wait long. Soon, a few Flying Magical Beasts flew toward them. However, they were mostly ordinary-looking birds, and their Extraordinary aura wasn’t particularly strong.
On the back of one of those birds, however, rode an Extraordinary being who radiated a legendary aura.
’Legendary on land, perhaps, but it’s uncertain if he could exert even half his combat power in the sky,’ Robson thought.
"You must be Monroe, I presume?" Robson said with a smile.
Although Robson had never met the Gray Dwarven King, the man’s powerful presence was unmistakable.
Monroe laughed heartily.
"I’m surprised General Robson was able to recognize me."
Monroe could afford to laugh; Robson could not. Since they met, the man hadn’t stopped calling him "General."
’It seems that even in the Frank Kingdom, there’s no shortage of people blinded by personal gain.’
"Heh. On the ground, I might not have been able to do anything to you. But flying up into the sky? Isn’t that just a death wish?" Robson said with a smile.
"General, you worry too much. Since I dared to come, I naturally have my own ways of staying alive," Monroe said with a smile.
Robson didn’t doubt that. He didn’t believe the Gray Dwarven King would fly up to him for a chat without some kind of ace up his sleeve.
"You came all the way from Iron Dome Castle. Surely it wasn’t just to shoot the breeze with me, was it?" Robson asked.
"And I’ve heard that you Gray Dwarves aren’t having such a great time within the Beastman Empire either."
"That is true, General. I came this time precisely to inform you of something important," Monroe said.
"Oh?"
"General, are you aware that the Centaur Clan has already returned to provide reinforcements?" Monroe asked.
Robson frowned. That was news to him.
Information from the central front wouldn’t reach him this quickly.
"General, how about we make a deal?" Monroe proposed.
"A deal? What could I possibly have to deal with you Gray Dwarves about?" Robson sneered.
Robson had read Beastman history, so he knew the Gray Dwarves had a long and complicated love-hate relationship with the Beastman Royal Court.
But knowing was one thing. The Gray Dwarves weren’t like the Gnolls from before; they, like the Centaurs, were a genuine Royal Family!
Opposing the Gray Dwarves was a matter of political correctness.
Robson didn’t dare speak carelessly. It would be disastrous if Monroe was holding some kind of recording device.
"General, to be perfectly honest, my Gray Dwarf race is also being oppressed by the Beastman Imperial Court."
"In the past, the Dwarf Race and humans were allies for generations. Now, we once again face the same enemy."
"As long as you, General, promise me that you will eventually send troops against the Centaurs, the Tiger Race, the Fox Race, and the Wolf Race... I can give you a treasure that will be more than enough to tempt you," Monroe said with a smile.
Lately, things hadn’t been easy for Monroe either.
He had, to some extent, underestimated the influence of the Beastman Royal Family within the Beastman Empire.
Those other races had indeed fled along with the Gray Dwarves, but their escape didn’t mean they had any intention of joining him in a rebellion!
