Chapter 305: Slaughtering the Six Saver Guild (2)

  • Next Chapter

The investors completely lost their corporate composure. They went crazy, shouting over each other, demanding immediate answers, security footage, and concrete proof. The luxurious office instantly devolved into absolute chaos.

The Guild Master slammed his hands on the desk, desperately trying to silence the panicked billionaires. "Everyone, calm down! The fact that the portal vanished is still not out to the general public! We can easily play this out in our favor! Once District Six is fully evacuated, we will simply issue a press release declaring that the Six Savers guild executed a covert operation and cleared the dungeon ourselves to save the city!"

The Vice Guild Master nodded vigorously in agreement. "Exactly! Over thirty percent of the residential zone has already evacuated due to the panic we seeded. The rest of the civilians will follow very soon. Once the commercial district begins to board up their shops, the entire sector will empty out within days. We just need to maintain the illusion of danger for a little while longer."

The lead investor pulled out his smartphone, his hands trembling slightly as he dialed a secure number. "The situation has gotten incredibly serious. We have to make sure the news about the dungeon’s disappearance is kept strictly secret. If the public finds out the threat is gone, they will stop evacuating immediately."

The Guild Master raised his hands, reassuring the anxious investors. "Our containment teams are already working on it. We have placed strict gag orders on the barricade guards. More information and a detailed tactical update will be available for you tomorrow morning."

Just then, the Chief Legal Counsel’s smartphone rang sharply, cutting through the tense atmosphere. He checked the screen, a smug chuckle escaping his lips.

"I just received the official casualty list from the coroner’s office," the Counsel announced, waving his phone. "We can finally compare the names and find out who survived the massacre."

The Vice Guild Master immediately pulled up the encrypted employee database for the Good Life Financial Company on the main conference monitor. They began meticulously comparing the two lists.

Simultaneously, the smartphones of every single investor in the room chimed with identical notification alerts.

The wealthy men pulled their phones out, checking their secure corporate feeds. They had all been forwarded the exact same video link. It was Paul’s documentary, detailing the illegal extortion practices of the Good Life Financial Company, exposing the fabricated real estate panic, and laying out the entire conspiracy to monopolize District Six.

The investors watched the footage for a few seconds before scoffing in unison. They looked entirely unimpressed.

The lead investor turned his phone around, showing the video to the rest of the room. "Some pathetic clown is trying to get his fifteen minutes of internet fame by spouting conspiracy theories. Counsel, I want you to take care of this video and have it scrubbed from the network as soon as possible."

The Legal Counsel watched the footage on the screen. He glanced at the Good Life employee roster still displayed on the main monitor, quickly finding a matching face. "This man is Paul. He is officially registered as one of the junior clerks for Good Life."

"No wonder he looked so familiar," the armored guild captain muttered.

"Do you think he was the one behind the massacre?" the junior executive wondered.

The Guild Master shook his head. "He does not look like a seasoned killer. Someone else must have slaughtered the enforcers and then specifically hired this clerk to record the video and act as a public whistleblower."

The Counsel adjusted his tie. "I will contact the platform administrators and have this video taken down immediately. Meanwhile, Captain, you should dispatch a strike team to this bastard’s apartment and silence him."

Before the Counsel could even dial his contacts, his phone rang again, loudly silencing the room.

"Who is it?" the Guild Master asked.

"It is my primary contact within the Awakened Authority," the Counsel replied, answering the call with a confident smirk.

The smirk vanished instantly.

Everyone in the office watched as sheer panic washed over the Counsel’s face. His eyes widened, and he began sweating profusely.

"What do you mean it is completely uncontrollable?!" the Counsel yelled into the receiver, entirely losing his composure. "What the hell am I paying you people for?! Take it down!"

The line went dead as the contact had hung up on him.

The Counsel lowered the phone, visibly upset and deeply frustrated.

"What happened?" the lead investor demanded.

"The video has completely blown up," the Counsel reported, his voice trembling. "It went viral across the entire global network. It has already reached the top-tier politicians and the major international Guild Associations. It is going to be hard to take it down or legally downplay the evidence now. Even foreign nationals and cross-dimensional organizations have gotten involved in the comment sections for some inexplicable reason!"

"Why the fuck would foreign nationals or inter-dimensional viewers care about a minor real estate dispute in Blue York?!" the investor shouted. "It is just a small, irrelevant district! This should not even be a big deal!"

The Guild Master slammed his fist on the desk. "It is obvious! The same person involved in the corporate massacre is undeniably the exact same person who cleared the dungeon this morning! If he is capable of soloing an S-rank dungeon and wiping out three hundred armed men, he must possess international connections and serious political backing!"

"Can we not just find him and negotiate with him?" the junior executive suggested nervously.

"How exactly are we supposed to find him?!" the armored captain snapped. "We have been desperately trying to track him down since he drove out of the portal this morning!"

The Counsel ran a hand through his purple hair. "We have to get to Paul first. Once our strike team secures him, we can violently interrogate him until he confesses everything. We can trace this mysterious, well-connected vigilante directly through the clerk. We can even have him make another video where he claims everything was fake and he did it for attention."

The lead investor nodded in agreement, regaining a fraction of his corporate arrogance. "Exactly. No one can say no to enough money. If we promise this vigilante a massive fortune, he will easily become our corporate attack dog. We can even use him to eliminate our rival guilds in the other districts."

Just then, blaring, high-pitched alarms rang throughout the entire guild headquarters. The overhead lights shifted to a flashing, emergency red strobe.

Everyone in the office jumped, panic instantly seizing the room.

"What is going on?!" the lead investor shouted over the sirens.

The Guild Master grabbed the emergency radio from his desk. "Command Center, report! What is happening down there?!"

Static crackled through the speaker, followed by frantic, terrified shouting. "We are under attack!" a guard screamed over the radio. The transmission was filled with the deafening sounds of shattering glass, splintering wood, and agonizing screams echoing in the background.

"Who would be stupid enough to launch a frontal assault on a fully staffed corporate guild headquarters?!" the Guild Master demanded. "How many attackers are breaching the lobby?!"

More screams and heavy crashes interrupted the transmission. The guard’s voice finally broke through the static, laced with absolute, primal terror. "It... it is only one person!"

The radio connection was violently cut off.

The executives and investors stared at each other’s pale faces in the flashing red light. The horrifying realization dawned on them simultaneously.

"It is the vigilante," the Vice Guild Master muttered, his voice shaking.

The Guild Master turned to his armored captain, screaming at the top of his lungs. "What the hell are you waiting for?! Take your personal guard, get down to the lobby, and bring that bastard’s head to me right now!"

The captain drew his broadsword and rushed out of the office with his elite squad.

"Heh! Does he think this is a financial company? This is a guild! It’s full of seasoned adventurers and awakened warriors!"

"Just because he was able to kill a bunch of weak enforcers, he thinks he can just barge into a guild and do the same thing!"

The Guild Master frantically tapped his computer console, turning on the internal security camera feeds for the lower levels. The screens flickered to life, displaying scenes of unmitigated destruction. Unconscious and broken guild members littered the hallways.

He frantically switched the channels, finally locating the active combat feed on the third floor. The camera struggled to focus through the thick clouds of pulverized drywall, dust, and flashing emergency lights.

However, they could clearly see a single, solitary figure effortlessly overpowering dozens of armed, Awakened guild enforcers.

As the dust finally cleared for a brief second, the executives leaned closer to the monitors, fully expecting to see a towering, heavily armored veteran.

Instead, they stared at the screen in bewilderment.

It was none other than the silent maid girl, casually dismantling the entire guild roster with her bare hands.
