Chapter 612
In the hospital, Shen Yi and Shen Xue sat in the waiting room. After they rescued Lu Xinyi from Zou Yin, Shen Yi immediately ordered his men to bring them back to the hospital. Qiao He and Li Yuren had stayed behind to make sure that Zou Yin was in custody before coming to the hospital to regroup with Shen Yi and Ye Xingjie.
When they arrived, they weren’t surprised when they didn’t see Ye Xingjie sitting with the Shens. Sun Feiyan was immediately sent to the operating room as her condition worsened.
Qiao He watched as his boss waited impatiently. Zhang Jingwei and Zhao Xi were giving Lu Xinyi a general check-up as per Shen Yi’s request. He was afraid that Lu Xinyi might have gotten hurt when she was held captive by Zou Yin earlier.
Remembering how that man touched his wife inappropriately was enough for Shen Yi’s blood to boil with anger.
“Calm down, bro. Mom wouldn’t allow anything bad to happen to Big Sis,” Shen Xue reminded him. His brother had been walking back and forth earlier, and it was starting to irritate him.
Shen Yi knew that his brother was right. He sat down and rubbed his face tiredly. He really hated hospitals. Just the scent of it was enough to piss him off. What was taking his mother and Zhao Xi long anyway?
It was Li Qiao who stepped out of the room first. Li Yuren stood up once he saw him. Their parents had requested him to take his sister home so she could rest properly.
“I told you. I’m fine. There’s no need for this.” Li Qiao told him. Her eyes then turned to Shen Yi and smiled wickedly. “But that doesn’t mean Lu Xinyi didn’t.” -.
Shen Yi whipped his head around upon hearing Li Qiao’s claim. Standing up from his seat, he faced her.
“What’s wrong with Xinxin?” he asked worriedly.
Damn, if something bad happened to his wife, he would make sure to find Zou Yin and kill him at once. He didn’t care if Li Yuren disapproved of it, but his anger would never subside unless he saw the man who caused trouble to his wife dead.
“Oh, no. I assure you. Nothing is wrong with her. We’ll have to go now.” Li Qiao held her brother’s arm, ready to leave. “By the way, don’t forget to invite me later, okay?” She gave Shen Yi a wink before leaving the hospital with Li Yuren.
He was about to ask Li Qiao some more, but the woman had fled with her brother. Ah, as expected Li Qiao knew how to torture him easily.
Half an hour later, the door opened again; and Zhao Xi let them inside with a wide smile. Shen Yi hurriedly went to his wife’s side who was sitting in a daze on the hospital bed.
“Xinxin… are you alright? Are you hurt?” He brought up her hand and placed it on his cheek, but Lu Xinyi remained in a daze.
He turned confusedly to Zhao Xi. “What’s wrong with her?”
“There’s nothing wrong with her, Shen Yi. She was just shocked in disbelief.” Zhao Yi laughed.
It only confused Shen Yi more. If his wife was alright, could it be she suffered a mental trauma? He was definitely going to kill that lecherous man! His mind was busy thinking of the ways to torture Zou Yin once he got his hands on him.
Sighing softly, he sat beside his wife on the bed and wrapped his arms around her. It had been so long since he had been able to hold her like he was, and he didn’t want to be parted from her anytime soon.
“I’m sorry, Xinxin. This is all my fault,” he murmured as he kissed her crown.
“Yes, yes. This is all your fault, Shen Yi. You brought this on her so you must take responsibility,” Zhao Xi said smugly that even Shen Xue was confused about what’s happening to his favorite Big Sis.
Shen Yi shot her a glare. Why was she acting weird like Li Qiao?
“Zhao Xi, you’re supposed to look after my wife. Did you hit your head or something? Something is definitely wrong with her!” He scolded Zhao Xi, thinking that maybe he should bring his wife to another doctor for a second opinion.
Why wasn’t Zhao Xi taking his questions seriously? Wasn’t his wife’s condition important to her as their family doctor?
At that moment, his mother decided to show up with another doctor beside her. They came out from the other room and stepped out when they heard Shen Yi scolding Zhao Xi.
“Why are you scolding, Doctor Zhao? What she said was right! You caused trouble to our Xinxin and brought her inconvenience. You must take responsibility for your actions, son.” Zhang Jingwei showed displeasure to her eldest son before turning to her youngest son.
“And you, why did you let your brother leave without telling us? I thought you still care for me as your mother.” She dramatically cried, feeling so hopeless about what to do with her sons.
Both the Shen Brothers were uncomfortable being scolded by their mother like this. In front of Zhao Xi and Lu Xinyi at that.
“Mother, I didn’t mean it…” Shen Yi trailed off, but his mother cut his reasoning.
“Of course, you mean it, you silly! How will our Xinxin end up being knocked up by you if you didn’t mean it?” Zhang Jingwei frowned. How could her sons be dumb like this?
Shen Yi was rendered speechless on what his mother said. What did she say? Lu Xinyi was knocked up by him?!
The world seemed to stop revolving when she said those words. Both the Shen brothers turned their heads towards her in surprise. Zhang Jingwei finally smiled. Ah, as expected, they were left stunned and speechless like Lu Xinyi over the news. This was surely an unexpected turn of events that no one had anticipated.
Shen Yi stared at the woman in his arms in surprise. His gaze dropped to his hand that coincidentally rested against her stomach before returning to her shocked face. He blinked twice, and for the third time, he asked Shen Xue.
“Xue, what did Mother say?”
Shen Xue looked at him like he’d grown another head on his shoulder. He sighed before answering.
“Mom said you caused trouble and inconvenience to Big Sis.” He told Shen Yi.
“No, not that part. It’s the last one I was curious about.” Shen Yi pushed.
“Oh, you mean when she said you knocked up Big Sis?”
“So I wasn’t hearing things…” Shen Yi muttered to himself before he flopped down on his wife’s bed, losing his consciousness.
Zhao Xi burst into a round of laughter when she saw what happened to Shen Yi. Even Shen Xue snickered at his brother’s reaction. What kind of reaction was this?
“Oh? He passed out?” He poked Shen Yi’s head, trying to see if he’d get a reaction; but there was none. “Stupid.”
Pulling out his phone from his pocket, he snapped a picture of his sister-in-law sitting in a daze with his brother lying unconscious in her lap before sending it to the WeChat group consisting of Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi’s closest friends with a caption: ‘The knocked out and the knocked up’. Baby Number 1 coming up very soon.
