Chapter 1836 - 1826: She Was Indeed Deceived
Chapter 1836: Chapter 1826: She Was Indeed Deceived
Enna Clark was forcibly taken to the restaurant recommended by Scott Harris.
The restaurant’s decor was very modern. It was either because they arrived early or Baron Lawrence had reserved the entire place, but besides them, there were only waitstaff present in the vast restaurant.
The restaurant mainly specialized in seafood.
A variety of upscale seafood dishes and ingredients were displayed in the hall for easy selection.
Enna Clark had no appetite at the moment. She casually flipped through the menu and said to the waiting server, "Just a serving of seafood porridge for me."
"Certainly." The server noted it down.
The man across from her was clearly her opposite. While she only ordered a serving of seafood porridge, he rapidly ordered a whole bunch.
Enna Clark seriously doubted he could eat even a third of what he ordered.
But she didn’t want to care at that moment. Taking advantage of him being engrossed in ordering, she pulled back her chair, stood up, and said, "I’m going to the restroom."
The restaurant was filled with staff inside and out, and they were sitting on the only way out. Baron Lawrence wasn’t worried about her escaping. Unless she sprouted a pair of wings, she couldn’t possibly run away.
Enna Clark wasn’t exaggerating to the point of wanting to escape; she was just still feeling down because she’d been deceived.
She splashed her face with cold water in the restroom.
The icy water woke her up considerably. The fear, worry, and apprehension lingering in her heart dissipated a lot, though her nerves were still slightly trembling from the shock earlier.
Enna Clark extended her hand, looking down at it.
Her fingertips were still trembling, not visibly, but she vividly remembered that when she was driving, her hands were shaking so much she could barely hold the steering wheel.
She kept wondering in her mind, how could he have a car accident, how is he, is he hurt, is the injury serious? Scott Harris had called her, was it because he was seriously hurt?
Her mind was a mess back then, with only one thought—seeing him!
She rushed over in a sorry state, only to find he hadn’t suffered the slightest incident! From beginning to end, she was nothing more than a fool being played with!
Anyone in her situation would be furious.
The more Enna thought about it, the angrier and more aggrieved she felt.
Why on earth did she have to accompany him for a meal? Was she out of her mind!
Just then.
In the corridor outside the restroom came Scott Harris’s voice, "Ms. Clark."
Enna Clark quickly turned off the faucet, hiding her hands so no one could see her fingers still trembling. She raised her head, looking toward the person in the corridor, "Uh? What’s up?"
She walked out, without a clue.
Scott Harris bowed his head apologetically, suddenly bowing in apology, "Ms. Clark, I’m sorry, I was the one who lied just now."
"..."
Scott Harris looked up, sensing that Lord’s lie hadn’t fooled Ms. Clark. Weighing it over, he decided to find Enna Clark and tell the truth, "The car accident was something I lied about, Ms. Clark. My apologies, Ms. Clark."
"...It’s okay." Enna Clark already knew she had been deceived, so she wasn’t very surprised to hear Scott Harris’s confession.
Scott Harris saw her reaction and knew his guess was right; Ms. Clark had indeed realized it. He guiltily explained, "Ms. Clark, I know you must be very angry right now. Lord didn’t mean to deceive you; he just heard that you were going to meet Young Master Lyle tonight and acted impulsively."
