Chapter 312: Chapter 294: Strict School Rules

"Alright, alright, go on and open the box. Let’s confirm your outstanding new student benefits."

The dean urged him on, looking even more expectant and excited than Lloyd. He was even incessantly ’rubbing his hands like a fly’.

The fact that a skeleton could have such vivid, human-like expressions struck Lloyd as rather odd...

Still, he went ahead and opened the box to take a look.

Although it was well-packaged on the outside and the box looked quite large, the contents were somewhat disappointing upon opening it.

Inside were a mere three items—

a lapel pin, a pocket watch chain, and a palm-sized hourglass.

However, all three items were emitting a unique and rich Spiritual Energy, suggesting their quality was likely quite exceptional.

Dandy, who was standing beside him, glanced over curiously and his expression immediately turned to one of envy. He nudged Lloyd’s arm, giving him a look that said, ’You hit the jackpot,’ and couldn’t help but exclaim:

"A Synchronized Hourglass! These benefits are truly lavish!"

The skeletal dean adopted a beaming expression and began to explain:

"Be sure to keep this lapel pin on you at all times. It could save your life in a critical moment. As for its specific functions, you should figure them out once you pin it to your collar...

But then again, this emergency lapel pin is a product of a rare collaboration between the Engineering System and the Space System. I believe it’s out of production now, isn’t it? I wonder why those two departments don’t collaborate like that anymore?"

With that, it pointed a finger at the watch chain and said:

"And then there’s this. I’ll let Dandy explain it; he should know more about it than I do."

Dandy nodded and took over:

"Right. This is the most classic-style spatial storage device our Space System has produced. While there’s still a gap between this and the Spatial Storage Bags and space rings recorded in history, it’s the best Reduction we’ve been able to achieve...

But Lloyd, now that you’ve joined the Space System, with the talent you’ve demonstrated, perhaps you’ll be able to further optimize this device’s design?"

As he spoke, he pulled aside half of his white lab coat, revealing an identical pale gold watch chain worn underneath. He then glanced at the Storage Bag hanging from Lloyd’s waist and added a reminder:

"You should get rid of that biological-type Storage Bag on your waist. They’re small, dirty, and damp, not to mention easily stolen from or spied on. Don’t use such crude imitations from now on."

"Ah... okay. I’ll swap it out later."

Lloyd nodded, then looked at the final item—the hourglass that had made even Dandy envious—and asked:

"And this last one?"

"This Synchronized Hourglass was personally crafted by the Headmaster. It will make your travels between the academy and the real world a bit more... comfortable.

It’s incredibly precious! The only way to get one is through a ’scholarship’ or as part of the ’top student benefits,’ so you must keep it safe. Whatever you do, don’t let anyone trick you out of it!"

The skeletal dean warned him very seriously.

Dandy chimed in as well:

"That’s right. Of these three benefits, the hourglass is the most important, especially since you have a job in the real world. It’ll help you a lot... I had to go to great lengths to get one back in the day. Not like you, getting one as soon as you enroll."

His voice was tinged with envy as he continued:

"Sigh... Unfortunately, when I enrolled, my evaluation wasn’t considered that high—just an ’A+’—so I didn’t get benefits this good. Seriously, the perks for an ’S+’ are just too amazing, aren’t they?"

The skeletal dean then added:

"Of course they are. After all, how many years has it been since we last had a new student with an ’S+’ rating? A hundred years? Two hundred? An ’A+’ might turn out to be a talentless hack who squanders their gift, but an ’S+’ never will!"

"Hm? What do you mean by that?"

Lloyd quickly pressed for an answer.

"It means that in the long history of Mizkatoke, every new student who received an ’S+’ rating went on to become one of the most brilliant and distinguished figures. Not a single one has ever failed to live up to their talent,"

the skeleton replied.

Dandy, who was standing nearby, added:

"That’s right. After all, regular guides don’t have the authority to grant an ’S+’ rating. The highest they can go is ’A+’. A rating any higher can only be given by a professor who heads a department...

And the professors, regardless of their department—even those from the arts—have never once been wrong."

"Haha, that’s right. The reason Mizkatoke has endured from the Era of Brilliance, survived the most dangerous doomsday era, and recovered to its current size is all thanks to the excellent judgment of our many professors."

After adding this final point, the skeletal dean waved his hand and concluded:

"Alright, my work here is done. For the remaining details, be sure to read the new student handbook thoroughly. This is very, very important! And now, for the last thing..."

"Welcome to Mizkatoke, Lloyd."

...........

After the enrollment procedures were complete, Dandy led Lloyd out of the dean’s office. He then gestured with his hand, sketching out a Teleportation Gate, and said he was taking Lloyd to see his assigned dormitory.

Lloyd nodded. As he passed through the Teleportation Gate, he was extra attentive, allowing his Spiritual Power and inspiration to radiate outwards, hoping to use this method to achieve Spatial Positioning.

If he could successfully pinpoint the spatial coordinates, he would be able to open his own gate back to the dorm in the future.

However, this was his first time attempting such a technique. Unsurprisingly, he failed. His Spiritual Power and inspiration grasped at nothing...
