Chapter 2259: Chapter 2259: Medicine Shocks the World (44)
Chuzheng looked utterly confused at the evil spirits dancing before her.
What happened?
Who am I, where am I, what am I doing?
What does that old man mean? Saying only I can save him? How is she supposed to save him? With her mind?
And asking her to return...
Return where? Where Chen Yin emerged?
Can he not just speak in complete sentences?!
Annoying!
Chuzheng frustratedly kicked the stone at her feet.
The evil spirits, seeing her come out, stopped their bouncing activities and lined up properly.
Chuzheng, unwilling to bow to fate, ascended the mountain again to find the old man and chat.
However, there was nothing on the mountain—the old man was gone, as was any sign of a thatched hut.
It was as if the person she saw before was an illusion, a figment of her imagination that didn’t exist in this world.
Chuzheng: "..." Saw a ghost.
Unable to find anyone, no matter how formidable she was, she couldn’t conjure a person from thin air.
-
Chuzheng sealed all the gaps Chen Yin had created, stopping the endless emergence of demonic beasts. The human race’s confidence surged.
The demonic beasts on Jiuzhou Continent noticed the situation was unfavorable and began to hide, engaging in guerrilla warfare with the human race.
Without large-scale wars, each city gradually recovered.
Chuzheng had seen Yan Hongni once; as a spiritual body, she was extremely weak and without Meng Weihan’s protection, frequently bullied by spirit evil spirits.
Yan Hongni had already violated the heavens once by being resurrected, losing the right to reincarnate.
Given her current state, she likely wouldn’t take long to vanish from the world.
As for Meng Weihan, the Jiuzhou Alliance punished him, ensuring he would never leave the Pomo Sect for the rest of his life.
During this time, Jing Po showed no signs of awakening.
Chuzheng wandered the continent with him, drawing quite a few intrigued looks.
But Chuzheng couldn’t care less about them; their worries were unfounded.
"What’s she planning to do?"
"Who knows, like a madwoman."
"Hey, do you think she might be planning something big?"
"That Demon Head..."
There was all manner of speculation.
But considering their inability to fight her, all they could do was talk, and run faster than anyone upon seeing her.
After completing her task progress, Chuzheng returned to the altar where Chen Yin was summoned.
The man was fished out of the River of Forgetfulness by the evil spirits, and Chuzheng demanded he return.
"You... weren’t you not going back?" The man, after being tormented, was now extremely weak, utterly devoid of resistance.
"Did I say that?" Since when had she clearly stated she wouldn’t go back?
"..."
He had said it!
"I didn’t say that," Chuzheng said sternly. "Don’t talk nonsense."
"..." Ha.
-
A year later.
In a tranquil small building, a young man lay quietly on a soft couch, with golden light tracing his delicate features, forming layer upon layer of virtual shadows.
The young man’s eyelashes trembled slightly, his tightly shut eyelids slowly opened.
Within those beautiful pupils, a suspended golden core was reflected.
... Where is this place?
Jing Po’s mind was blank.
Too long without seeing light, the golden core’s brightness was somewhat glaring, causing Jing Po to raise his hand to cover his eyes; only when he felt he could adjust did he sit up.
Beside the bed was a screen wall, obscuring Jing Po’s view of the room outside.
He lifted off the cover, getting out of bed.
Upon standing, Jing Po felt dizzy, his gaze blurred, unable to see anything clearly.
Jing Po steadied himself by clutching the nearby furniture, and once composed, he raised his eyes to the void above him.
That golden core, following his movements, was still suspended above his head.
Is this... the golden core from Golden Cicada Town?
Where is he now?
Where is she?
Jing Po bypassed the screen and found the door to venture outside.
Outside, there was a long corridor.
Glancing toward the end, he saw a winding red river flowing by, beyond which lay only darkness, nothing visible.
"You’re awake."
At the corner of the corridor, someone approached, seeming slightly surprised seeing him standing outside.
The newcomer was a stranger; Jing Po did not know him.
"I’ll fetch Master Chen Yin for you."
Without waiting, the person left without a word... floating?
Jing Po’s mind was slightly muddled; he stood for a moment, then followed the person’s footsteps down the corridor.
Turning a corner, Jing Po immediately walked into someone.
With no strength in his body, he couldn’t maintain his balance, falling backward.
But at that moment, a hand grasped his wrist, halting his fall, pulling him forward into an embrace.
Jing Po’s breathing quickened, raising his eyes to look at the person holding him.
A familiar face met his gaze, aligning all his chaotic memories.
"I..."
Jing Po’s vision wavered slightly, his back touching the cold wall, and the familiar face grew larger in his pupils.
The familiar aura surrounded him.
Jing Po’s words were stuck in his throat.
-
Jing Po struggled to breathe, he pushed Chuzheng: "... I can’t catch my breath."
Chuzheng released him: "Why did you come out on your own?"
"... I didn’t know where I was, and I didn’t see you." Moments ago, his mind had been a complete mess.
Chuzheng guided him back to the room.
"Where am I?"
"Demon Mountain."
"Demon... Mountain?" Jing Po’s face expressed surprise.
Wasn’t it said that apart from demon spirits, no one else could survive here?
He...
The boy asked pitifully: "Am I dead?"
Chuzheng replied somewhat irritated: "You have demonic qi within your body, plus you’ve consumed the Forgetfulness Tree Flower and Zhixi Blood, so you can survive here."
The elixir pills Jing Po had crafted; the Forgetfulness Tree Flower and Zhixi Blood were key.
"Is the demonic qi still present?"
"Yes." Chuzheng’s fingertips touched the boy’s cheek, "But it shouldn’t flare up. Don’t worry."
Jing Po gave a nod, half-understanding: "How long did I... sleep?"
"A year."
"..."
That long?
"Then what is this?" Jing Po pointed to the golden core above his head.
"I’m not sure. When I brought you here, it suddenly started glowing, and your box couldn’t contain it, so I released it. It’s been like this ever since."
Since it wasn’t harmful and seemed beneficial to Jing Po’s body, she hadn’t bothered with it.
Any attempt to take it down would see it simply float back...
Jing Po: "..."
Are you not concerned something might go wrong?
Jing Po reached out, and as he grasped the golden core, its light dimmed, lying in his palm as an ordinary golden core.
He let go, and the golden core leisurely floated back to the void.
Jing Po looked at Chuzheng in bewilderment.
Chuzheng patted his head: "No worries, just rest well and recover your body."
"Hm..." Jing Po replied softly, his gaze lowering to his hands clasped together.
After a while, the boy softly murmured.
"What did you say?" Chuzheng hadn’t heard clearly.
Jing Po lowered his head further, his voice slightly louder, "Can you kiss me?"
Chuzheng hesitated momentarily, hooking her finger around the boy’s small finger, "But how can I kiss you when you’re like this?"
Jing Po lifted his head, a rare blush on his face, his eyes darting around hesitantly before closing them altogether.
The suspended golden core flickered, as if sheepishly shy.
