Chapter 2258: Chapter 2258: Medicine Shocks the World (43)

He didn’t rush out immediately, choosing instead to wait outside for his junior brother.

Seeing him discover the truth, his junior brother revealed the man’s identity and invited him to join.

How could he possibly agree to such a thing?

Yet, he hadn’t expected that his junior brother had long been prepared.

Everyone has something they care about, and he was no exception; his junior brother always knew his weaknesses.

His junior brother told him that as long as he didn’t interfere and pretended he hadn’t discovered anything, everything would remain as usual.

He considered making the matter public, but he couldn’t bear to watch those he cared about meeting a tragic end or see Jueyi Tower destroyed by his own hand.

Later, he found his junior brother very interested in Jing Po.

Jing Po was his only disciple, whose medical skills would surely surpass his given time.

He hadn’t expected that his junior brother would target Jing Po.

Discovering this, he was uneasy and wanted to expose them.

By then, the man’s power had grown beyond his capability to handle.

He retreated once more.

It just so happened Jing Po committed an act...

So he took the opportunity to expel him from the sect.

When he first took Jing Po as a disciple, he noticed Jing Po’s body was prone to attract those things, so he took him to seek an expert who placed a restriction on him.

There would be no major problems before he turned sixteen.

At the time, Jing Po wasn’t yet sixteen; he felt leaving Jueyi Tower was the best choice for Jing Po.

"My master once said that although my medical skills were good, my character lacked decisiveness, even tending towards weakness, making me unsuitable to take over as Tower Master; he preferred my junior brother... But my junior brother was running around the continent at the time, not caring about the position, so eventually, I took over."

If he could have been more decisive, maybe these things wouldn’t be happening now.

But he couldn’t do it; that’s not who he was.

His junior brother knew exactly what kind of person he was, which is why he dared to be so fearless.

The Tower Master coughed incessantly, his face weathered.

"A doctor’s benevolence?" Chuzheng said ambiguously, "Truly a doctor’s benevolence."

The Tower Master lowered the hand covering his mouth, a stain of red blood in his palm: "I won’t live much longer anyway, maybe it’s karma."

The Tower Master looked at Chuzheng: "What happened to Jing Po?"

-

Chuzheng didn’t feel fondly about the Tower Master, but now needing his help to find that book, she briefly explained the situation.

After hearing it, the Tower Master’s face looked even more grim.

"I still ended up harming him..."

Thinking he’d be temporarily safe leaving Jueyi Tower, unforeseen changes occurred in the meantime; not only did he not leave, but coincidentally ended up in front of that person.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Frustration might have overwhelmed him, causing him to directly spit a mouthful of blood.

Chuzheng nudged the coffin slightly aside: "I need to find that book, do you know which book it is?"

The Tower Master swallowed two Elixir Pills, shook his head: "The Book Pavilion has too many books, I haven’t read through all of them. But since Jing Po found it here, it surely must be here."

Chuzheng: "..."

So after all that talk, you still have to flip through one book at a time, right!

What’s the point of you!

Can’t even protect your own disciple!

Sigh!

Forget it, protect your own card, don’t need others.

Chuzheng was too lazy to squabble with the Tower Master, so proceeded to look for the book.

The Tower Master sat there listlessly, looking as though he aged ten years overnight.

Chuzheng had finished searching one bookshelf when he finally braced himself and started looking for the books.

-

Chuzheng searched through most of the Book Pavilion until the Tower Master found the dusty book in a corner.

The contents matched what Jing Po had said.

Flipping further ahead, Chuzheng found a page had been ripped out, followed by entries of different things.

"Where’s this page?"

"It wasn’t there when I checked."

Chuzheng continued to flip, noticing that pages had been torn sporadically, seemingly at random... What kind of bastard couldn’t keep their hands to themselves!

"Can I take a look for him?"

Chuzheng glanced at him, irritably flipping through the book: "If you dare pull any tricks, I’ll kill you."

The Tower Master chuckled wryly: "How could I harm him..." He paused at that.

Due to his own cowardice, things ended up this way.

The Tower Master examined Jing Po, finding no issues with his life signs; his body was even quite healthy, he seemed merely asleep.

Feeling defeated, the Tower Master slumped to the ground.

Now he couldn’t even save his own disciple.

Really didn’t know what he did all his life...

Suddenly, the Tower Master raised his head: "Go to Golden Cicada Town to find someone, he might have answers."

Golden Cicada Town?

That town was long gone, to find... that blind old man on the mountain?

-

Chuzheng swaggered out of Jueyi Tower with the coffin, leaving behind a group of dumbfounded disciples.

What about the Master Uncle?

How could she just leave like that?

Their Master Uncle, meanwhile, was surrounded by Evil Spirits, lying somewhat awkwardly on the ground, making eye contact with a man held down by Evil Spirits on the other side.

That’s what Chuzheng saw upon her return.

"Who’s this? Where’d you catch him? Didn’t I tell you not to randomly catch people?"

"He ran over here himself." The Evil Spirits explained, "Sneaky-like, must be up to no good! He even tried to save him!"

The Evil Spirits pointed at the man.

The man: "..." I don’t know him, don’t look at me!

Chuzheng scrutinized the person a few times, raised an eyebrow at the man: "Your grandson, huh?"

"..."

I don’t have such a stupid pig-headed grandson!

"Throw him in the river." Chuzheng waved a hand: "Let your grandson keep you company." She’s always trying so hard to be reasonable, a good person even today.

The man: "..." No! He didn’t want that.

"Master Ancestor!" The Master Uncle shouted in shock.

Originally trying to save the Master Ancestor, he inadvertently got himself caught.

"Shut up!" The man hissed, turning his head away.

-

On the way to Golden Cicada Town, Chuzheng casually destroyed the gaps Chen Yin created, preventing Demonic Beasts from emerging.

Possibly finding the correct suppression position, the progress bar surged happily.

Without Chen Yin’s memory, and knowing some gaps are still out there, Chuzheng planned to finish handling the Good Person Card first, then seal those gaps.

Golden Cicada Town had long become ruins, the Golden Cicada Stone Carving shattered into pieces on the ground.

No one was there, nor were any Demonic Beasts visible.

Chuzheng crossed through the town and ascended the mountain.

The mountain remained shrouded in thick fog.

Following her memory to the spot from before, Chuzheng caught sight of a blurred figure standing amidst the dense fog as soon as she arrived.

An aged, coarse voice echoed through the fog: "You should go back."

Such an enigmatic statement, even Chuzheng found it confounding.

"Go back where?"

"Return from whence you came." The figure moved further into the fog: "I cannot save him, only you can."

"What do you mean..."

Chuzheng chased after, yet the figure was already swallowed by the fog, vanished without a trace.

"..."

Must be kidding!

Continuing onward, she didn’t see the thatched cottage she remembered, the fog abruptly scattered, transforming the scene in front of her; she was back at the mountain’s foot, facing the bouncing Evil Spirits.
