Chapter 2157: Mr. Zombie (16)
Chapter 2157: Chapter 2157: Mr. Zombie (16)
"It’s all because of me... I’m really sorry..." The man apologized to Chuzheng in a state of panic.
Chuzheng’s expression was indifferent: "It’s got nothing to do with you."
"But... if it weren’t for me, they wouldn’t be like this, and none of this would have happened." This young girl helped him and ended up with all this trouble.
"You’re overthinking it. I didn’t do it for you at all."
Though Chuzheng said this, the man was convinced otherwise.
Chuzheng: "..." Fine, if you think so, then so be it.
After the group drove Jin Ling out, Chuzheng indeed didn’t bother them.
A day later, the rain stopped, and when everyone woke up, they discovered Chuzheng and her group were gone.
The zombies were still outside, with no signs of battle. So how did she leave?
Chuzheng had only left a short while, and as the car drove a little further, the water plant was still in sight.
The zombies there looked like tiny ants, densely surrounding the water plant.
Just then, the little ants seemed to hear a call and suddenly surged towards the water plant.
Chuzheng faintly heard screams carried by the wind.
"What’s happening?" Apparently, Chuzheng wasn’t the only one who heard it, as Zhao Yingjun abruptly stepped on the brakes and looked in the direction of the water plant.
The car following behind them almost ran into theirs because Zhao Yingjun braked so suddenly, the man almost crashed into the back.
Someone got out of the car in front, and the man, still shaken, followed.
"What’s up?"
Zhi Kai gestured for him to look towards the water plant.
The zombies that had been dispersed around the plant were now all gathering outside the building, forming an intimidating black mass.
The man could now hear the screams and the roars of the zombies.
The man’s face went white: "Why... why did the zombies suddenly attack them?"
Inside the water plant should have been safe. The doors and windows were solid. As long as they were careful, they shouldn’t attract the attention of zombies.
Zhi Kai sighed: "Let’s go."
-
Several months had passed since the virus outbreak, leaving the city in ruins, and everyone susceptible to infection had been infected.
Those who survived were a world apart from who they were just months ago.
The people who couldn’t even kill a chicken before might now be able to chop up zombies without batting an eye.
Those who used to be clueless about basic cooking ingredients now knew how to make exquisite meals from limited supplies.
As the sun set, two cars were parked by a dark river, where someone was cooking by a fire.
Some were sparring on the withered grass, while others sat on the car hood tinkering with random stuff.
This scene strangely had a touch of leisure, making it hard to tell if they were escaping apocalyptic doom or simply on a relaxing vacation.
"Xiaoyu, I’m starving. When’s dinner?"
Someone hollered.
"Soon, soon, stop rushing me." From Xiaoyu’s side came the clang of pots and pans.
The aroma of food gradually wafted through the air.
"Dinner’s ready." Xiaoyu set the dishes on the table beside them: "Where’s the boss?"
"Out for a walk with that one," Xiao Gong replied: "Said we should start eating first."
Everyone knew who "that one" was.
The boss put a lot of effort into raising that little pet.
Oh well.
They, mere mortals, really couldn’t understand the boss’s thinking.
-
Chuzheng and Bei Chi were in the woods, and although Bei Chi’s hands and feet weren’t bound, he walked ahead obediently, his head occasionally swiveling around.
From the back, no one would think he was a zombie.
Chuzheng strolled behind, pondering how to fulfill her Zombie King task. Suddenly, Bei Chi sprinted forward and disappeared in a flash.
Chuzheng: "!!!"
Chuzheng caught up and found Bei Chi crouched in the withered grass holding something, about to bring it to his mouth.
"Bei Chi!" Chuzheng called out.
Bei Chi, like a child caught snacking, swiftly shoved the item towards his mouth even faster.
Chuzheng approached in a few steps and pressed down on Bei Chi’s head, causing him to drop his hold, nearly embedding his whole body into the grass.
"Cluck cluck cluck..."
The chicken, now free, flapped its wings and raced into the depths of the underbrush.
"Roar!" Bei Chi growled angrily.
He was hungry!
He wanted to eat!
Chuzheng released her grip on Bei Chi’s head: "Hungry?"
The zombie was miserably aggrieved, lowering his head, choosing to ignore Chuzheng.
"Didn’t I tell you before not to eat raw stuff?"
Bei Chi: "..." Doesn’t get it, just wants to eat!
He didn’t like eating what she gave him; it tasted bad, flavorless.
He preferred something lively.
Like...
Bei Chi sneaked a glance at Chuzheng, only to get caught in her gaze, and with a "roar," he irritably turned his head away.
Chuzheng took out some food and broke it into pieces to feed him: "Eat a little."
Bei Chi wasn’t cooperative at all, turning his head to the side.
Chuzheng: "..."
Although Bei Chi could digest human food, he strongly disliked it. Chuzheng always had to come up with ways to coax him into eating.
Even a kid wasn’t this hard to raise.
If he doesn’t eat, so be it!
Let’s see if you eat when you’re starving!
Chuzheng quickly finished the food, and Bei Chi turned to watch her, a flicker of anger in his grayish eyes.
He looked just like an upset child.
Suddenly, Bei Chi extended a hand to claw at Chuzheng.
"What are you doing..."
Zombies are naturally strong. He pressed against her, and they both fell into the grass.
Bei Chi brought his face close, sniffed, and suddenly bit her lip.
Chuzheng: "..."
Chuzheng regained her composure, warning softly: "Bei Chi, don’t bite hard!"
Bei Chi had initially intended to bite down with force, but he eased up, letting his soft lips rest against hers.
His presence was fresh, with a faint milky aroma from the milk Chuzheng had given him earlier.
He himself wasn’t warm; his lips were cold yet soft.
Like a puppy, the zombie sniffed a few more times, then lightly bit her again.
Chuzheng: "..."
He’s treating her as food!
Crap!
I don’t even know if this would infect me.
Well, since I’ve already been kissed, if I get infected, so be it. Might as well... kiss a few more times.
Chuzheng later realized she was too naive.
The zombie treating her like food had no interest in kissing, just in nibbling on her as food.
"..."
I see you as my partner, but you see me as food.
How outrageous!
Chuzheng laid there reluctantly, being the food.
Bei Chi simply found this human pleasant to bite and thought biting harder would feel even better.
But she wouldn’t allow it.
Feeling aggrieved, Bei Chi held down Chuzheng for a long while, and when he finally got bored, he snuggled up to her neck, rubbed a bit, and fell asleep.
He was truly living carefree to the fullest.
Chuzheng: "..."
You eat and then sleep? Have you considered my feelings as the food?
... So will I be infected or not?
If I get infected, my mission to become the Zombie King would be settled!
I can’t understand anything right now; how am I supposed to know how to be a Zombie King!
