Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny
Chapter 1734 - 893: Choice
Before Ao Gao could finish his sentence, his movements came to an abrupt halt.
A hand quietly reached out, pressing lightly on his forehead. Then, under the astonished gaze of him and Meng Sang, it was as if time was reversing.
The spreading blood began to contract, shattered organs reassembled, and gaping wounds closed again.
Life returned.
When the hand slowly withdrew, they finally noticed Ji Jue, who had appeared there at some unknown time.
"Mr. Ji?!"
Ao Gao stood frozen, disregarding the pain on his body. Instinctively, he tried to get up but was pressed down again by the sweeping finger.
"Don't rush to move. This is merely like stitching up after a surgery, you're still in pieces. Let me see, poison, gunshot wounds, spinal fracture... your heart was almost torn out, you really have a strong will to live."
Ji Jue mused with a sigh, pulling over a chair and sitting down, he praised:
"A good idea indeed."
After all, creations from the Gate of Eternity were always rare. Who would have thought Ao Gao had something William didn't?
And who could have imagined Ao Gao would bind the teleportation point to his idiot nephew's body?
He complained in front of William about how troublesome taking care of children was, even publicly scolding and reprimanding Meng Sang more than once.
Moreover, he kept tossing the child around, forming a habitual pattern.
Even Meng Sang himself never realized that the ring given by his father had such a hidden function...
Yet, all of this undeniably proved his strong luck, decisiveness in fleeing, and correctness in judgment.
Across the Endless Sea, no one was probably safer than Meng Sang.
"Let's talk."
Ji Jue propped his chin, casually telling him, "I'm listening."
Breathing heavily, Ao Gao pondered for a fleeting second before laying everything bare.
It was nothing but an ambush and premeditated siege, lacking any significant substance.
No feast is a banquet, no person is good; Sea Abyss Corner turned hostile, appearing neutral while having long allied with Gray Port, using the excuse of a meeting and invitation to lure Ao Gao for the kill.
First poisoning, then attempted heart removal, finally failing to kill, followed by a chaotic shooting.
The elite forces around suffered heavy losses, almost entirely wiped out.
For Ao Gao, none of this was crucial.
Just another ambush and calculation, even he wasn't surprised; the key lies in... the opponent's unwavering intent and determination to kill.
Saying this seems dumb; obviously, they've already made their move, but amazed at their serious intention to kill him seems trivial, yet thinking deeper, it's truly illogical.
Ao Gao believed he had some value; thinking from their perspective, a living Ao Gao was surely more useful than a dead one.
Besides, since he's not the Chosen One, falling into their hands means complete powerlessness, left at their mercy.
Yet, Sea Abyss Corner's decisive attack implies thoughts that should remain hidden in his mind no longer held value, and were utterly unimportant.
So, what caused him to lose worth?
Two possibilities.
First, if Shiye was lost, Ao Gao's presence or absence wouldn't matter.
Second... Shiye might continue to exist, but William wouldn't!
To make sense of the situation in such a short time and make judgments, Ao Gao truly did his best, abandoning all confidants and subordinates, desperately seeking aid from the Seven Cities.
Unfortunately, the result was exactly what he feared most.
Ji Jue chose not to act.
"I mostly understand your point, let's see... there indeed was a small commotion at the Shiye division just now, and it's still continuing."
With Ji Jue's words, a television in the room sparked to life, showing a scene from thousands of miles away at the Shiye Islands, switching between different camera views, focusing on a collapsed, broken building.
In the blurred, flickering images, screams and shouts could be heard, along with continuous explosions.
With a boom, the high-rise of the Shiye division snapped in half.
Gunfire continued incessantly.
A beast resembling a building roared, emerging from underground, causing a storm and wreaking havoc.
But William wasn't visible.
Ao Gao's eyes widened, almost teary with rage, and when he looked back at Ji Jue, he was almost crying blood.
But Ji Jue remained unperturbed.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ao Gao, although I sympathize with your situation, I fear I cannot help with William's matter."
Ji Jue knew perfectly well what Ao Gao intended, wanting him to act: to launch dozens to hundreds of missiles for support, buying William some time.
But unfortunately, the downfall of the Iron Hook District was destined to happen only once.
Though the leaders hadn't explicitly forbidden it, having been given a chance, Ji Jue couldn't act unscrupulously. Moreover, in this critical moment, using Federation-standard missiles for another saturation strike and attack, regardless of the innocent involved, the Federation wouldn't ignore it.
East City would probably laugh hysterically, certainly not letting Ji Jue's reckless behavior slip.
"You must have a way, you definitely..."
Despite his severe injuries, Ao Gao crawled up, knelt down, and begged hoarsely, "Please think of a way, in all sincerity... I can offer..."
