League of Legends: The Bastard Prince of Demacia
Chapter 511 - 511: I Am the Sun
When the Void Riftblade's evolution conditions were fulfilled once again, every Voidborn instinctively felt a shudder run through them.
As the Void Riftblade in Luke's hand released an eerie, dazzling violet light, every Voidborn touched by its glow felt a trace of fear.
It was as though they were witnessing some terrifying existence awaken before their very eyes.
After evolving again, the Void Riftblade looked almost unchanged on the outside, but the energy contained within it had nearly doubled. Both its durability and sharpness had increased tremendously.
At the same time, that energy could feed back into Luke himself, giving him a considerable boost as well.
The transformation of the Void Riftblade was so pronounced that even the Aspects and Darkin took notice.
"That weapon..."
Even from a distance, Mihira could sense the strange, unnatural presence emanating from it.
Why was a weapon so clearly connected to the Void in that young man's hands?
The Darkin, whose very existences were intertwined with weapons, likewise sensed the oppressive presence radiating from the Void Riftblade.
At that moment, the Voidborn once again received Malzahar's command and charged toward Luke.
There were hundreds, perhaps thousands of them, surging forward like a frenzied army.
"Perfect. You can be the first ones I test this edge on."
Luke gave the Void Riftblade a casual swing before raising it. Countless fragments began extending upward, and in the blink of an eye, the weapon transformed into a blade over a hundred meters long.
Terrifying sword intent erupted in every direction.
Luke's eyes remained calm as he brought the sword down, an enormous arc of violet sword light cutting through the air.
Then came a horizontal slash.
A razor-sharp flash swept across the battlefield, and every charging Voidborn within a hundred meters suddenly froze in place.
A second later, their bodies neatly split apart and collapsed in pieces.
Their energy was absorbed by the Void Riftblade once more, causing it to emanate an even more frightening presence, as though the weapon possessed an innate advantage against all creatures of the Void.
Even the stronger Void warriors halted warily, unwilling to approach.
The power displayed by this weapon was simply too terrifying.
The Void Riftblade had been born within the Void itself and was naturally devastating against Voidborn. After undergoing repeated evolutions, its strength had long since surpassed what it once was.
Even Luke himself was startled by its performance.
Hidden in the shadows, Malzahar's expression darkened. He had never expected this key to display such tremendous power in Luke's hands.
Then again, it was something they had carefully nurtured themselves. Such power was not unreasonable.
The problem was that it had fallen into the hands of this troublesome human.
Taking it back would not be easy.
He needed to hurry with the next stage of the plan.
Looking at the Void eggs all around him, which had already split open, Malzahar said quietly, "Go. Do not allow them to advance any farther."
A Void rift opened beside him, and Malzahar immediately stepped through it.
Meanwhile, the battle outside continued.
"A weapon of the Void? Interesting."
Aatrox's voice came from behind.
He glanced at the Void Riftblade with growing interest.
Once he seized Luke's body, he would take a good look at that snow-white sword as well.
Both weapons would make excellent nourishment for his greatsword.
"Come, human! Let us continue our battle!"
His fighting spirit had not diminished in the slightest. The moment he finished speaking, he was already charging toward Luke.
But Luke's attention was not on the Darkin Blade.
"Malzahar's presence is gone."
Through Aura Lock, Luke had sensed Malzahar leaving this place.
"There are plenty of Voidborn here for you to kill. Have fun. See you around."
Luke looked at the approaching Aatrox but showed no intention of continuing their fight. His figure flickered and vanished from where he stood.
His presence disappeared with him.
Even Aatrox failed to track where he had gone.
Anger immediately welled up inside him, so he unleashed it upon the surrounding Voidborn instead.
His greatsword crashed down, and the roaring sword energy instantly tore several Voidborn apart.
"No matter where you run!"
Aatrox roared as his greatsword descended once more.
"I will find you!"
At this moment, the Darkin Luke had brought with him finally began serving their purpose.
They could no longer avoid fighting the Void either.
At the same time, numerous powerful presences suddenly emerged throughout the Void nest, each even stronger than Sosu and Steelshell.
They were newly born Void warriors that had emerged from the Void eggs.
Their bodies were covered in pitch-black armor, concealing both their forms and faces. Together, they resembled a perfectly organized army.
Kayle had already carved her way into the area with the highest concentration of Voidborn. Seeing the newly emerged Void warriors surrounding her, her cold eyes flashed.
There was no fear in them.
Her wings spread wide, and she charged forward.
Flames roared from Virtue, her Judgment Blade, with every swing. Each strike made the very air tremble, carrying an unstoppable aura of righteous, pure killing intent like blazing starfire.
The weaker Voidborn were incinerated on the spot simply from being brushed by those flames.
This time, however, Kayle's strike was blocked.
She immediately realized that these identical Void warriors were completely different from the ones they had encountered before.
They appeared to possess no independent consciousness. They were machines born solely for battle, more powerful than the others and completely devoid of unnecessary thought.
Their movements and behavior were synchronized to an extraordinary degree, granting them terrifying coordination.
For the first time, Kayle found herself at a disadvantage.
Facing six such Void warriors simultaneously, she was unable to break through their formation.
Just as two of them circled behind her and prepared to thrust their bone-like weapons forward, black feathers suddenly drifted down.
Then came the sound of rattling chains.
Violet chains wrapped around the surrounding Void warriors, radiating immense binding power.
Kayle froze for an instant and glanced at Morgana beside her.
Morgana merely raised her cool eyes and looked back at her without saying a word.
She lifted one hand.
The chained Void warriors were immediately dragged together.
Kayle raised her rune blade high. Brilliant light flashed, and a blazing celestial blade descended from above, cleaving straight through the Void warriors.
For that single instant, violet-black flames and crimson fire seemed to merge together, sacred and overwhelmingly powerful.
When the flames finally dissipated, not even ashes remained of the Void warriors.
More powerful presences began appearing around them.
Neither Kayle nor Morgana said anything.
They merely stood back to back, their black and white wings intertwining as though they were once again a single being.
The sight stirred memories in Kayle from many, many years ago.
Back then, the two sisters had fought side by side just like this.
Their cooperation had once been flawless. Their hearts had moved as one, and they had shared the same ideals and goals.
Now, however, they fought for different ideals.
Mihira and Taric fought together. Their enemies consisted not only of the different Void warriors, but Darkin as well.
"The presence of the planetary core has disappeared. Where was it taken?"
Mihira could no longer sense the planetary core, and an uneasy feeling began to rise within her.
They had come here specifically to retrieve it. If it was gone now, how was this any different from making the entire trip for nothing?
Now that the planetary core had disappeared again, how were they supposed to locate it next time?
"His Highness has already gone after it. Right now, we should stop these Voidborn and buy him time."
Morgana's voice suddenly reached every Aspect.
"His Highness? That human boy?" Mihira immediately thought of Luke.
"Yes," Morgana replied. "Malzahar appears to be planning to use the planetary core to free the Watchers."
"If that's true, then we have even more reason not to let him go alone. He's only a mortal. How could he possibly stop the Void? Why didn't he tell us before?"
Mihira felt a surge of irritation.
Something this important, and that human had actually kept it from them?
"Because he doesn't trust you with it," Morgana replied bluntly.
There was no guarantee the Aspects would actually get the job done properly. As far as Luke was concerned, they had already lost the planetary core once.
He had not gone to Mount Targon because he expected the Aspects to solve everything.
He simply wanted them to keep applying pressure, exactly as they were doing now.
"What?!"
Mihira nearly laughed from sheer anger.
That infuriating human boy had looked down on the Aspects again and again.
This time, it was not just her. The other Aspects were more or less speechless as well.
He truly was one of the strangest humans they had ever encountered.
"Mother, right now he's the only one who knows where Malzahar is, and he's the only one who can stop him," Morgana's voice rang out once again. "Why not try trusting him?"
"What exactly did that human boy do to make you so hopelessly taken with him?"
Mihira was both furious and helpless toward this daughter of hers who kept siding with an outsider.
If something this serious ended in failure, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"Or rather, now that things have reached this point, trusting him is our only choice."
This time, it was Kayle's voice that answered.
Her tone remained calm.
"If it weren't for him, we'd probably still be on Mount Targon discussing what to do."
"From what I know of His Highness, he may behave unpredictably, but he is indeed very dependable. I say we trust him."
Taric's voice followed.
In the distance, Pantheon stood covered in scratches across his armor, with several new wounds across his body.
Yet his presence had only become more terrifying.
His powerful muscles bulged, even the veins beneath his skin clearly visible, every inch of him brimming with explosive strength.
As the Aspect of War, battle only made him stronger.
The larger the battlefield and the greater the conflict, the greater his combat strength became.
At this moment, despite facing the combined assault of at least ten Void warriors, his fighting spirit only burned brighter.
With a thunderous roar, he shot forward.
One against ten, yet he was not losing in the slightest.
Deep down, he understood that Luke had good reason not to trust them.
Kayle was right.
Without Luke, they would probably still be holding a meeting on Mount Targon right now.
"Then we'll buy him a little more time."
Leona exhaled and surveyed her surroundings.
"This is the Void. There is no sun here. How do you intend to wield your divine power?"
One of the Void warriors suddenly spoke.
Through Malzahar, they had already shared information about the Aspects among themselves.
Leona was the Aspect of the Sun. Her divine power came from the sun itself, yet within the dimension of the Void, there was no sun.
Without sunlight, she had no source from which to draw strength.
"You will be the first Aspect to die here."
The Void warrior continued speaking as a two-meter bone spike split from the dark armor covering its arm.
"The Void will remember this day."
"You're wrong."
Leona looked at the dozen or more Void warriors surrounding her. Her resolute face held not a trace of fear.
She planted the Shield of Daybreak into the ground.
Her eyes began to burn like flames, while her golden armor seemed to reflect the dazzling radiance of the sun itself.
"When there is no sun, I am the sun."
She raised the Zenith Blade.
Her voice was calm, yet carried overwhelming force.
The instant the words left her lips, dazzling light exploded outward.
Within the Void, it was as though a sun had risen high into the sky.
Golden radiance poured across the entire land.
The appearance of the sun strengthened the power of the Aspects.
Leona herself, bathed in sunlight, became unstoppable.
Sacred radiance shimmered across her entire body as the temperature around her continued soaring, flames spiraling around her.
With a single slash, she instantly destroyed one of the Void warriors.
In this state, even the Darkin regarded her with tremendous caution.
"The Aspect of the Sun? What a troublesome opponent."
Naafiri, who had quietly hidden herself away, watched the scene and retreated even farther.
Even the Ascended had inherited their power through the Sun Disc. That alone showed just how terrifying the strength of the Aspect representing the sun could be.
At the same time, within the Void Hive, Malzahar advanced deeper inside.
Despite being called a hive, the place did not resemble a nest at all.
It looked more like a mysterious and solemn great hall, almost like the palace chambers of some ancient giant.
Malzahar walked through the silent corridor like an ant that had accidentally wandered into a human home. Everything around him was impossibly enormous.
Every step he took was filled with reverence, while boundless devotion filled his heart.
Every time he walked through these halls, his emotions surged uncontrollably.
Before long, he arrived before an enormous altar.
At the center of the altar were two empty recesses.
Malzahar carefully took the key from within his robes.
It was a crystalline object composed of several rectangular crystals, seemingly containing an immense amount of energy.
He placed the key into one of the recesses.
With a resonant click, the entire altar awakened.
Violet light spread through several grooves across its surface, and a gigantic pillar of purple light suddenly shot into the sky.
Then Malzahar took out the planetary core and placed it into the other recess.
An enormous amount of pure energy erupted outward.
The entire altar blazed with brilliant light.
Supported by that energy, the crystalline key slowly rose into the air, drifting upward through the pillar of light.
Once the key reached the very top, the prison restraining the Watchers would be completely undone.
It seemed the planetary core truly worked.
At this moment, even Malzahar could barely contain his excitement.
"This day has finally come! Great Watchers, descend upon us! Lead us in bringing this world to its end!"
Unable to restrain himself, he raised both arms and shouted, his voice filled with fanatical devotion.
