League of Legends: The Bastard Prince of Demacia

Chapter 508 - 508: The Weirdest of the Weird

  • Next Chapter

The Void possessed overwhelming power and numerical superiority.

With only the four of them, trying to face it head-on would be like standing in front of an avalanche and expecting to stop it with their bare hands.

"Then we'll find some reinforcements."

Luke didn't think that was much of a problem. At this very moment, there was undoubtedly another group of people worrying themselves sick over the exact same issue.

Morgana immediately understood what he meant.

Kai'Sa also remembered the Aspects of Mount Targon who had fought against those Voidborn that day.

"The biggest problem right now is still finding Malzahar."

Luke had kept Malzahar's aura locked the entire time, but Malzahar was in the Void. From Runeterra, Luke couldn't pinpoint his exact location.

The connection between the two worlds was incredibly subtle. If Luke brought a group of people directly into the Void and followed Malzahar's aura from there, there was no doubt Malzahar would notice them long before they arrived.

The best solution would be to find the corresponding location from Runeterra and reach the target in one move.

Because of Malzahar's actions over the years, Shurima, or perhaps Runeterra as a whole, had developed a strange connection with the Void, much like the relationship between the Physical Realm and the Spirit Realm.

The two worlds seemed to be drawing closer together.

Because of that, every location in the Void should theoretically correspond to a location somewhere in Runeterra.

That was also how Malzahar had been able to bring his Void warriors directly to the location of the planetary core.

Therefore, Luke believed he should also be able to locate the Void's corresponding position through Runeterra.

He slowly explained his reasoning.

After listening, Kassadin fell into thought.

"So this involves spatial magic. I do know a form of teleportation magic, though I don't know whether it'll help you."

Luke's eyes immediately lit up as he remembered Kassadin's signature ability.

"Tell me more."

Kassadin explained slowly, "I learned this spatial spell four years ago in the Freljord from the remains left behind by a Frostguard mage. That's also where I found my rune."

"The spell works by calculating the spatial nodes connecting the Physical Realm and the Spirit Realm, allowing the user to teleport between points. But when I use it, I have to rely on the rune's power because the spell consumes an enormous amount of mana."

"The problem is that you can sense Malzahar, while I can't. I have no way to use your perception to calculate the spatial node."

As he spoke, Kassadin demonstrated.

He gripped the rune in his hand. His body flickered, space rippled, and in an instant, he appeared on the opposite side of the room.

"That's easy enough. Teach it to me."

Luke immediately spoke after seeing it.

"Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't hesitate. But do we really have that much time?" Kassadin couldn't help asking. "It took me three full years to learn this spell."

It was precisely because he had mastered it that Kassadin had gained the confidence to step into the Void.

He wasn't trying to keep the spell to himself. It was simply extremely complicated. If Kassadin hadn't spent years traveling across Runeterra and studying all kinds of magic long before learning it, he probably never would have succeeded.

"Trust me. Let's try."

Luke smiled at him.

There was something strangely reassuring about him, something that made people want to believe him.

Seeing that, Kassadin said nothing more and immediately began explaining the spatial spell.

From the structure of the mana, to the method of calculating spatial nodes, the concepts sounded simple when summarized in only a few sentences, but the amount of information involved was enormous.

Spatial magic truly was among the most profound branches of magic.

Kai'Sa and Morgana listened as well, but after only a short while, Kai'Sa already felt her scalp going numb and gave up trying to understand.

Morgana could follow the general theory, but she could also sense how difficult the spell was. If she wanted to learn it herself, she would probably need quite some time.

Luke listened carefully and didn't find it particularly difficult.

After all, his talent had already been pushed to the limit. His comprehension of magic was also at the highest level, and he already possessed Blink, another teleportation-type ability.

Compared to this spell, Blink was even simpler. There was no need to calculate spatial coordinates at all. Wherever his thoughts reached, he could instantly teleport there.

As time passed, Luke committed all the necessary principles, applications, and methods to memory.

Then he began trying it himself.

With three World Runes inside him, he wasn't worried about lacking enough power to cast it.

Before long, the familiar system notification sounded in his mind.

[Congratulations, Host. You have learned the skill, Riftwalk Lv. 3.]

[Riftwalk has increased to Lv. 4.]

[Riftwalk has increased to Lv. 5.]

[Riftwalk has increased to Lv. 6.]

[Riftwalk has increased to Lv. 7.]

[Detected: Blink and Riftwalk are abilities of the same category. Would you like to fuse them? Fusion will create a new skill.]

"Fuse them."

Luke immediately made his choice.

[Fusion successful. Congratulations, Host. You have obtained the skill, Spatial Shift Lv. 9.]

In an instant, information about the new skill flooded into Luke's mind.

The sheer volume of knowledge caused his understanding of space to soar.

For a moment, he felt as if he could see countless layers of space folded over one another, spinning and shifting like a kaleidoscope.

Processing something like this placed an enormous burden on the mind, but Luke could handle it.

The other three people in the room watched him suddenly close his eyes and stand completely still.

None of them dared disturb him.

After some time, Luke finally opened his eyes.

The amount of information contained within the new skill had indeed been enormous. Even with his current abilities, he'd needed some time to process it all.

Still, the gains were substantial.

Spatial Shift combined Blink and Riftwalk, and their fusion had produced a far more powerful ability.

Luke could now teleport not only himself, but other things along with him.

People, for example.

At the same time, he could teleport other people or objects toward himself.

Luke looked at a vase on a distant table and raised his hand.

Space rippled.

The vase instantly appeared in his palm.

The three others couldn't help showing surprise.

Because the vase was an inanimate object that couldn't resist, teleporting it had been effortless.

Luke thought for a moment, then looked at Morgana.

"I want to test my new ability on you. Be ready."

Morgana immediately understood what he intended to try and gave a slight nod.

"Go ahead."

The two trusted each other completely.

Luke didn't hesitate.

He activated Spatial Shift.

The next second, Morgana suddenly appeared behind him.

Even she showed a flicker of surprise.

"What did it feel like?"

Luke turned around and asked.

"I could sense the spatial magic activating, but it happened extremely fast. If I hadn't prepared myself beforehand, I probably wouldn't have had time to react."

Morgana carefully described the sensation.

She had felt magical energy suddenly appear around her, and the next instant she had already been transported elsewhere.

Kassadin and Kai'Sa were both staring in astonishment.

Kai'Sa couldn't help asking, "What was that just now?"

"The spatial spell gave me a lot of insight," Luke explained. "I combined it with one of my existing abilities and created a new form of magic."

"This..."

Kassadin felt as though Luke were describing something utterly impossible.

But the proof was right in front of him.

For a moment, he was completely speechless.

Luke had not only learned the teleportation spell, he had somehow combined it with another ability and created an entirely new form of magic?

What kind of monster was this?

Was this guy really human?

Kai'Sa was having almost the exact same thought.

Neither of them had ever met a human this terrifyingly gifted.

Only Morgana seemed capable of accepting it.

After all, she had been watching Luke do ridiculous things like this for quite some time.

"In any case, our theory seems to have been correct. I think I can now calculate the spatial nodes that correspond between Runeterra and the Void."

Luke's understanding of space had improved tremendously.

Calculating spatial coordinates required enormous mental and magical power, but he could handle both.

"It's time to move on to the next step."

Luke opened the window.

Outside, the city was still in chaos from the earthquake. Sand filled the air like windblown smoke, making the entire world resemble a wasteland.

They needed to end this as soon as possible.

At the summit of Mount Targon.

"Any news from Zoe?"

Mihira was communicating with the Celestial Realm, but the answer she received wasn't encouraging.

The Celestial Realm was even farther removed from the Void, so there was very little assistance they could provide in this matter.

And despite their attempts to contact the Aspect of Twilight, there had still been no response.

At this point, they still hadn't found a particularly good solution.

Mihira, Kayle, Taric, Leona, Pantheon, and the other Aspects were gathered at the summit, discussing how to respond to the situation.

So far, however, no one had come up with anything useful.

Among the Aspects who had descended into the mortal world, only Zoe and Diana were absent.

No one knew where Zoe was because they had been unable to contact her.

As for Diana, the conflict between the Solari and Lunari made it impossible for her to appear here openly.

Just then, space suddenly rippled.

Every Aspect immediately turned toward the disturbance.

Not far away, space flickered.

Two figures appeared.

Luke and Morgana.

"Been a while, everyone. Having afternoon tea?"

Luke smiled and casually greeted them.

Mihira's expression immediately darkened at the sight of him, especially because he had brought her daughter with him.

"You again, human. How did you bypass Mount Targon's spatial restrictions?"

"What I'm about to say isn't meant as an insult, but I really think Mount Targon's security needs an upgrade. Restrictions at that level could probably be broken by any half-decent mage."

Luke had already sensed the magical restrictions surrounding Mount Targon during his previous visit.

He simply hadn't bothered breaking through them at the time.

Now that he had Spatial Shift, passing through restrictions of that level was even easier.

Even though Luke had warned her that he wasn't trying to insult her, the corner of Mihira's mouth still twitched.

She had personally created those spatial restrictions.

And now he was saying that basically any random mage could break them?

He might as well have slapped her across the face.

This human was every bit as arrogant as the last time they'd met.

Kayle looked at Luke with interest.

Something about him seemed different from before.

As for what exactly had changed...

He seemed even more arrogant.

Now he could apparently come and go from the summit of Mount Targon as casually as if he were walking into his own house.

How much worse was this going to get?

"If any ordinary human can freely enter the summit, then the traditions Mount Targon has upheld for thousands of years are being trampled underfoot."

Mihira rose to her feet and stared coldly at Luke.

"Human, regardless of your purpose, I will regard this as an affront to Mount Targon's dignity."

"I don't think you have time to fight me right now. Instead of getting angry, maybe you should think about how you're going to deal with the enormous hole in Shurima."

Luke's tone remained casual.

His expression was completely relaxed, as though he couldn't even feel the pressure radiating from Mihira.

Mihira deeply disliked the way he spoke to them.

Anger was already rising within her.

Just then, Kayle spoke.

"It seems you're here because of that matter."

"Exactly."

Luke nodded slightly.

Taric also spoke up.

"Your Highness, if you have something to say, then please say it."

"I'm here to make a deal with you."

Luke didn't waste any more time.

He stepped forward and continued.

"I know what you want to know, and I also have a way to help you."

In the past, the very idea of a human trying to negotiate a deal with the Aspects would have been laughable.

The Aspects would have dismissed such a person without a second thought.

But now, with Luke standing before them and saying those words, every Aspect remained silent.

Luke was different.

He was, without question, one of the strangest humans they had ever encountered.

Some of those present knew Ryze, an extraordinary archmage among humans whose achievements even the Aspects were willing to acknowledge.

But Luke was somehow even more extreme.

He was absurdly young.

Far too young.

Yet his strength was both tremendous and mysterious, so much so that even the Aspects couldn't fully see through him.

Not long ago, he had dared climb Mount Targon and publicly humiliate the Celestials and Aspects alike.

Now he had simply teleported straight onto the summit to negotiate a deal.

He was an anomaly among anomalies.

And yet, for some reason, none of the Aspects felt like he was bluffing.

Kayle spoke again.

"And what do you want in return?"

She sat with one long leg crossed elegantly over the other, her entire presence radiating cold pride and nobility.

As sisters, both she and Morgana possessed a cool, striking beauty, but the nature of that coldness was completely different.

"What I want is simple. Restore her power, and from now on, she won't have to concern herself with whatever restrictions Mount Targon has imposed."

Luke had originally come looking for reinforcements.

But clearly, the Aspects were even more desperate to resolve this situation than he was.

That meant this could become a transaction.

The balance of the situation had shifted.

Now Luke was the one offering help.

The Aspects were the ones who needed something from him.

Morgana watched from beside him as he stated his demand, and something stirred faintly within her.

Truthfully, she didn't care much about the power she had lost.

But this time, she remained silent.

Without that power, there was only so much more she could do to help Luke.

"Impossible!"

Mihira rejected the proposal almost instinctively, without even seriously considering it.

She immediately continued.

"One exception inevitably leads to countless more. Rules are rules. They are sacred and inviolable, and they must be obeyed."

She was the Aspect of Justice.

She represented absolute justice.

And in her eyes, protecting the rules was itself another way of preserving justice.
