Chapter 319 Slimy Gluttony
The golden light radiated from the massive black dragon hovering high above the vast orange and red ocean of lava.
It reflected in the clusters of crystals on the dragon’s body and his shiny black and golden armor as it expanded, repelling away all the corruption.
Everywhere its golden rays landed, the lava changed its color back to its natural orange as it eradicated the vile red energy of the nether.
The possessed slime jiggled, and its body shot forward, slithering in the dragon’s direction like a giant sludge of thick black mass.
Red veins have overgrown the black mass as the curses remaining after the dragon’s attacks weakened its body and devoured its mana.
It slithered forward like a high-speed train, creating waves of corrupted red lava that moved in all directions.
Vesuvius just stared at the incoming demonized slime, his eyes, veins, and the lava flowing within the crevices of his armor turning gold as he sucked the mana from the world around him.
He directed mana and fed it into his crown, which was brightly shining with golden magma and fire dancing around it.
The euphoria flooded the dragon’s mind as the divine golden energy circulated through his veins.
‘This feeling of power….’
The giant slime was slithering closer and closer, with giant vortexes, tendrils, and tentacles of darkness and corrupted magma growing out of its body and the surrounding lava.
All the tentacles lunged at the dragon at once, loud sonic bangs shattering the silence as they accelerated and turned into black and red blurs.
He remained calm as he moved, and the mana, lifeforce, and divine energy flowed through his body, knowing that the best way was to blow up the slime in one massive attack that would overwhelm its powerful regeneration.
The dragon flapped his wings, and his body rolled to the side, leaving a golden trail behind him.
Just a split second later, the swarm of tentacles cut through the spot where he was just a moment ago. Bright, crimson-red fire exploded out of them, creating colorful fireworks in the cloudy sky.
Vesuvius flapped his wings again, lightning crackling and sparkling around the crystals as he moved in a sudden burst of speed away from the tentacles while glancing at the black mass of tar-like lava rolling towards him.
The slime was moving like an unstoppable high-speed train, its body constantly growing in size as it sucked and devoured everything it came into contact with. Its black body was pulsing and vibrating, looking like a moving black hole.
‘Damn, I need to hurry up before that thing consumes this whole dungeon!’ For the first time, he felt pressed for time, his heart pumping the mana and blood even faster, making the crown on his head glow and shine even brighter as if he wore a crown forged out of the sunlight.
The tearing sound resonated through the dungeon as the tentacles twisted and changed their direction, all heading once again toward the dragon like a swarm of guided missiles.
The dragon’s domain twisted, magical arrays flickering in the dark clouds above him as they formed one by one, his horns glowing even brighter than before.
As if the sky itself was enraged, massive lightning thundered in it and charged the spinning magic circuits.
In the meantime, the dragon kept accelerating while producing more and more divine energy, droplet after droplet.
The tentacles relentlessly pursued him, shockwaves bursting through the air as they all kept abruptly speeding up and slowing as they maneuvered.
Vesuvius felt the pressure grow as more and more tentacles spurted out of the slime that turned into a massive vortex of rubble, lava, and smoke as it sucked in everything into its black, fiery abyss of corruption.
The lightning crackled one more time, the bright light flashing between the darkness of the clouds. And then all the magic arrays pulsed as they finally got fully charged.
Thin blue and gold rays of lightning exploded, cutting and moving through the swarm of tentacles pursuing the dragon, cutting them like laser cutters.
One by one, they fell into the raging sea of lava below them.
However, more and more tentacles exploded from the wiggling mass of the evil lava.
More and more lightning bolts joined the rain of rays, pelting and bombing every tentacle reaching in an attempt to grab the dragon.
Vesuvius stopped accelerating, flapping his wings as he stabilized himself high above the ground to fully focus on his attack.
At the same time, the tentacles and lightning kept fighting against each other, creating loud bangs and flashes of light.
‘This should be high enough to protect me from the slime’s most powerful attacks. My domain will take care of the rest.’
The slime was even larger, its sucking force growing stronger and stronger as even the island got torn from the ground and flung into the demonic vacuum cleaner, the black burning tentacles swinging around and dragging them into their doom.
“You can’t run me, dragon! I will consume you and turn you into nourishment for my body and soul!” The distorted voice came from all directions as the slime was getting closer and closer.
Finally, the dragons’ and the demons’ domains collided with such a force that it raised a tall magma tsunami.
The dragon’s domain tried to control and rule over everything around, while the demons tried to devour and absorb everything.
‘So, it is a demon from the circle of gluttony… Why do I feel like I heard about something like this before.’πΆπ£π xt.πΈπ¬π¦
The dragon moved his long-clawed hands, all the magma around him rising into the air as if gravity had been reversed.
His horns shone brightly, and more than a dozen magical multilayer circles and squares materialized around him as the shadow of the demon grew deeper and larger.
Loud bangs exploded in the distance as even larger and thicker tentacles of black lava, tendrils of shadows, and vortexes of red hell lava crossed the speed of sound, all of them heading towards the dragon like a barrage of sharp spears and battering rams.
The lightning crackled around the dragon as his body quickly accelerated and shot upwards again, quickly rising higher and higher, leaving behind a trail of fire and smoke crackling with lightning behind him.
He looked like a giant rocket as he ascended above the clouds.
The magical circuits behind him collapsed as the black tentacles smashed through them and shattered them into billions of light fragments that rained towards the burning ground like a snowflake woven of colorful light.
The lightning crackled repeatedly, the bright blue arcs of electricity dancing around the dragon’s black and gold semi-metallic armor and between his crystalline spikes, claws, and wings.
The magma and lava raised beneath him, looking like a reversed rain of fire and slowing down the tentacles following him as he ascended, the black, red, and orange fire clashing against each other in a massive fiery, and magmatic storm.
The tendrils quickly slithered behind him, but they slowly grew more and more distant with each crackled of the electric arcs surrounding the dragon’s body.
Even the previously terrifyingly huge slime looked just like a small piece of coal.
‘When the demon took this body, they lost their mobility as it is bound to the ground.’
The magma that was rising into the air slowed down, and the onslaught of the demonic tentacles intensified as the demon’s domain overlapped with his.
However, with just a single thought, his fire pushed back again, his lordly domain outranking and surpassing the demon’s domain by a large, unsurpassable margin.
The golden light gathered in the dragon’s throat, his eyes shining in ridicule of the demon, ‘Too late, I now have enough energy to nuke you out of existence.’
The circuits reformed around him once again while the slime wiggled on the ground, all the mana and magma, even the stone and air, getting sucked into its ever-growing black body like a black hole.
‘Slime and devouring. I see why the demon would want to possess it. They are like made for each other. It is a perfect combo.’
The magma flowed through the glowing magic circle, concentrating with its temperature quickly rising, changing its color from orange to bright blue. The rivers of it flowed and circled through the sky like massive snakes of lava.
The dragon kept converting the immense amount of mana around him into pure divine energy that he directed into his breath glands.
His breath gland shone so brightly that the golden light passed through his scales and armor like a massive golden star.
“Come down, you coward!” Vesuvius snickered at the demon’s useless attempts to trick him. He wasn’t an idiot and seeing the demon’s huge body, he had no confidence that he could win in the melee fight without suffering injuries.
The massive black tentacles kept reaching higher and higher, growing and extending toward the dragon.
It looked like the skyward construction of a skyscraper.
The dragon’s eyes pulsed in the faint golden light of, ‘Finally, I have enough energy’
The dragon opened his mouth, and the golden light burst out as a line of star-shaped multilayered circuits formed in his throat and an immense wave of mana, radiation, and divine energy leaked out.
