Chapter 318 The Possessed Raid Boss

The enormous black and golden mass of stones, metals, and gems burst through the surface of the magma, quickly rising out of it like a giant submarine.
The dragon opened his eyes as he looked toward the horizon. The sheer and vast ocean of magma as far as his eyes could see.
He felt the vile and corrupting energy seep through the lands and lava, changing everything to a twisted demonic nature.
A tall pillar of crimson-red energy connected the sky with the ground on the horizon, sending pulses of energy into the land.
Vesuvius felt the pure elemental energy around him quickly drop, his domain holding a large portion of it like glue.
The ripples passed through the magma, which color turned bright red like when someone bleeds into the water.
‘So it is finally time.’
The dragon flapped his wings, his body fully launching out of the magma, revealing his shiny body with the burning hot liquid dripping down.
He remained hovering above the burning ocean, each flap of his enormous crystalline wings sending waves through it.
The next moment, magma pillars raised up towards the sky, spinning and illuminating the sky in their crimson-red light.
Vesuvius refused to just wait. He pumped magma into his horns, and the whole sky in his domain violently spun.
The clouds crashed and mixed with each other, the huge blue and golden lightning arcs striking between them. They struck the prepared spinning magic circuits glowing within the clouds and overcharged them.
The lightning spun within them as they charged and prepared to unleash their attack at the dragon’s command.
Outside of his domain, droplets of the corrupted magma hovered up, rising higher as if someone had reversed the gravity.
Ding!
//
The standard dungeon objective has failed. The demons have successfully woken up and corrupted the Magmuru, the great elemental magma slime.
//
‘Oh, so that is why the magma felt so weird. That…’ Vesuvius stared in fascination as the ocean of magma around him came to life, the magma quickly gathering into a giant blob far on the horizon.
Tentacles of magma were growing out of it and blindingly swinging around like whips.
One of them smashed into a nearby island, and the burning liquid splashed everywhere, accompanied by a thundering bang as the whole island exploded.
‘This might be a little problematic, but nothing too bad.’
The dragon opened his mouth, one circuit after another forming and arranging inside, while the destructive cocktail of the volcanic explosion climbed up his throat.
‘It doesn’t matter if you can assimilate and control lava, as I am a dragon lord! A mere jelly can’t steal what is mine!’
The explosion passed through all circuits, changing its form and shape into a neon-red beam of fire mixed with pitch-black smoke containing a toxic, radioactive, explosive, and acidic mixture of gasses and ash. Rings of magic letters spiraled and orbited along its whole length.
As if detecting the gathering magic energy, the still growing and forming slime shot dozens of huge magma tentacles at the dragon.
Each of them prolonged towards the dragon so fast that they crossed the speed of sound, creating loud sonic bangs. The shockwaves created even more waves in the already chaotic magmatic ocean.
The tentacles were massive, each looking like a huge river of fire and lava flowing through the air, the vile demonic energy reeking out of them.
Vesuvius refused to interrupt his attack to teleport, so he flapped his wings, lightning crackling under them.
The circuits spinning above crackled and sparkled as they emitted thin rays of concentrated golden-blue lightning. The rays crisscrossed the cloudy sky with glowing lines, heading straight at the distant slime.
The dozens of red tentacles, the massive beam emitted from the dragon’s mouth, and even more of the thinner but brightly glowing rays of lightning covered the sky, accompanied by loud bangs and thunders and bright flashes of light.
The tentacles and the dragon’s beams and rays crossed the gap between them in a split second, quickly closing toward their targets. The red, golden, and blue light flooded everything in blinding brilliance.
The dragon flapped his wings, rising higher and higher as he speeded up, without even closing his mouth as he constantly released his breath.
The tentacles followed behind with a staggering speed, looking like blurry, burning whips. They were quickly catching at him, already reaching to grab him.
At the same time, the beam and rays hit the slimy blob of magma.
For a split second, everything remained quiet, and then the next second, huge explosions swept through the ocean of lava, sending a huge fiery tsunami in all directions.
The tentacles reached the dragon with immense force and power, pushing his body backward while they wrapped around him. The red, purple, and golden flames mixed together, fighting for dominance in a massive firestorm surging around the dragon.
At the same time, the beam and the rays rained hit the slime into its huge, wiggling body of lava. They all exploded in bright flashes of light while drilling deep into the slime.
The rotating magical letters around them pulsed and constantly triggered massive explosions that sent ripples and waves through the slime’s body.
The temperature of the tick neon-red beam was so high that even the magma it hit sizzled out and evaporated, turning into nothing but a cloud of gasses.
The pieces of the slime flew in all directions, and magma rained down in an unstoppable hail.
However, the slime had not felt any pain as it tightened its grip, loud cracking coming from the dragon’s direction.
Vesuvius groaned slightly in pain as the tentacles around him pressed, trying to crush him. The pressure was growing stronger and stronger, and his armor was loudly creaking, with cracks and dents forming on its shiny surface.
The demonic, corrupted magma burned and disintegrated it, one piece after another.
However, his armor still held. The combination of its resistance against unholy and chaos elements and his affinities negated most of the damage caused by the hellfire and hellmagma attacks.
‘Hellmagma… that sounds wrong. Now that I think about it.’
The sea of magma was spinning, the waves crashing and smashing against each other as both the dragon and the slime took control of it around their bodies, in their ranges of control.
The two beasts stood unfazed, the shadows of their massive bodies obscuring the destruction brought by their attacks as everything around them broke down or evaporated into nothingness.
Vortexes formed in the burning sea as the magma flowed into slime, repairing and restructuring its body that was disintegrating under the brightly glowing onslaught of the dragon’s breath and lightning rays.
Vesuvius was sucking mana from around him at such a rate that he felt his mana reserves weren’t even dropping. Mana flowed through his armor, crystalizing into the mana crystals while more and more magma flowed out, mending its cracks.
Both were in their element as their environment empowered them to their top conditions and supplied them with near-unlimited mana and material to exercise their powers.
“Groooar!” The dragon’s growled as the pain stabbed through his wings, as the tentacles changed their target, coiling around his wings, burning and shattering the crystals in them.
The next moment, the magic letters appeared around the dragon as a complex magic circle formed in his mind.
His body flickered out of existence as the space around him bent and warped. The next second he appeared far in the distance, the slime turning into a small red spot in the sea of orange.
‘There is no need to go so fa…’
A rough voice sounding like a broken CD came out of nowhere, speaking directly into the dragon’s soul, “Ohh, are you running away, lizard?”
The dragon’s eyes zoomed towards the slime, and the next second, his heart pulsed in shock, ‘So there is a second phase…Well, it doesn’t matter. I am also only in my first phase.’
In the distance, the crimson-red mist mixed with swarms of crimson sparks collided with the slime, getting absorbed into its body.
‘Direct Possession!’ He immediately recognized the annoying ability of the demons to change their bodies on a battlefield. He slightly shuddered, thinking about how powerful the monster before him would be.
‘Already a monstrous monster that will be possessed by likely a powerful demon, combining their powers.’
He even felt that he had made a mistake for a moment, but then a wave of adrenaline and hunger for battle pushed his doubts away.
The dragon stared at the demon, but he felt like something was off in the same way as when he saw the fake drakes during the trial.
‘It is just its shadow frozen in the time loop of the dungeon. The real demon is gone.’
The huge dragon shot upwards with a single powerful flap of his wings that sent shockwaves crashing into the back island beneath him.
The island shattered as the black stone cracked and slowly sank into burning, corrupted lava.
In the meantime, the slime kept growing quickly, sucking up all of the lava around it. It was already so tall that it dwarfed the dragon multiple times over.
More and more demonic energy seeped into the lava contained in its body, changing into a thick, bubbling tar-like substance.
‘Lots of regeneration and resistances… I will need a powerful attack to destroy it. Otherwise, this fight will go on for eternity as it can absorb the mana from surrounding to regenerate and resupply its means of attack. No wonder the system considered this to be a game over. There is no way that any player, maybe except for a few deviants, could ever produce such damage in a quick burst.’
A crown of golden radiance materialized around the dragon’s head, connecting with his horns to form a majestic crown. It shone with a brilliant golden radiance that pierced and pushed back through the ash clouds, flooding everything.
