Konoha: Let's Just Destroy It
Chapter 64: Naruto and Sasuke
Naruto and Uchiha Izumi had been eating snake for more than half a month!
Ever since that day, Izumi had become much more vigilant.
Every day, she would discover quite a few snakes.
Whenever she saw one, she would simply kill it and seal it inside a storage scroll.
By now, Naruto felt that even doing his sit-ups every day had become much easier.
Orochimaru really was a good person!
Sasuke, who had moved nearby, often secretly watched Naruto train.
Apparently, he was trying to figure out some kind of secret.
After Naruto caught him spying, he dragged Sasuke into his house and fed him two entire meals consisting entirely of snake dishes!
Sasuke immediately suffered a severe nosebleed.
Naruto thoroughly looked down on him for it.
Too weak.
This was probably what people meant by being too deficient to handle nourishment.
During the meal, Sasuke learned that Naruto spent two hours every morning doing physical training.
Although he didn’t believe it, once he returned home, he still decided to work harder.
He would wake up at six!
The next day.
Six in the morning.
An alarm rang.
Sasuke opened his eyes from his deep sleep and turned to look at the clock.
Six o’clock?
The Ninja Academy doesn’t start until nine. Why did I set my alarm for six?
Still groggy from sleep, Sasuke was about to turn off the alarm and sleep for another two hours.
Then he suddenly remembered something.
Sasuke sprang out of bed and quickly ran onto the balcony.
Through the window of Naruto’s house, he saw Naruto already doing push-ups!
"So it really is true?"
After moving here, Sasuke had secretly observed Naruto’s activities at home every day.
He wanted to find out how Naruto normally trained.
In the end, he had reached a conclusion that shocked him.
Naruto was a complete slacker!
Every day, he went to school, and after school he either chatted with Uchiha Izumi or the two of them simply sat around doing nothing.
(The times they appeared to be doing nothing were actually spent inside the sealing space.)
Sasuke had never once seen Naruto train!
After reaching this conclusion, Sasuke had been extremely indignant.
Why was Naruto such a slacker?
Why did Sasuke work so hard, yet still couldn’t surpass Naruto?
Yesterday, he couldn’t help asking Naruto about it.
Naruto had merely smiled without answering.
Uchiha Izumi, however, had said a few words.
She told him that Naruto trained his physical strength for at least two hours every morning.
Of course, she didn’t mention the weights Naruto wore while training.
She was afraid of discouraging Sasuke.
Sasuke hadn’t really believed that Naruto trained continuously for two hours.
But now that he saw it with his own eyes, he believed her.
Because Naruto’s push-up speed was incredibly fast.
From a distance, it almost looked as though there were two Narutos moving up and down.
Several minutes had already passed, yet his speed hadn’t slowed down in the slightest.
Clearly, he wasn’t just putting on a show.
"So he wasn’t not training. He was training while I was still asleep!"
"Damn it! How much time have I wasted all these years?!"
Regret filled Sasuke’s heart as he realized how much of his mornings he had wasted sleeping.
Sasuke immediately began doing push-ups on the balcony as well, his eyes fixed firmly on Naruto.
He gradually increased his speed, hoping to catch up with Naruto.
But it was impossible!
Even using all his strength, Sasuke couldn’t reach even half of Naruto’s speed.
And after less than a minute of pushing himself at full speed, his arms were already burning with exhaustion.
"How? How is that possible?"
Sasuke refused to believe it.
How could he be this far behind?
Gritting his teeth, he stared stubbornly at Naruto.
Naruto continued maintaining a steady pace.
Sasuke, meanwhile, grew slower and slower.
Ten minutes later.
For every ten or more push-ups Naruto completed, Sasuke could barely manage one.
His form had already become sloppy.
Twenty minutes later.
"Why can he still move this fast? Why hasn’t his speed slowed down at all?"
Sasuke’s hands were trembling violently.
He could barely even support himself on the ground anymore.
Doing push-ups was completely out of the question.
Finally!
Around six-thirty, Naruto stopped and lay down on the ground.
Seeing this, Sasuke immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
His arms gave out, and he collapsed flat onto the balcony.
"Huff... huff...!"
Sasuke gasped for breath several times before looking toward Naruto again.
Naruto wasn’t resting at all.
He had already begun doing sit-ups at an astonishing speed!
Sasuke’s eyes widened.
Gritting his teeth, he immediately turned his feet toward Naruto’s room and started doing sit-ups as well.
Every time he sat up, he would stare intently at Naruto.
"How can he do them this fast?!"
Sasuke’s aching arms were already too weak to keep his hands behind his head, but he continued forcing his waist to work, desperately trying to match Naruto’s pace.
Ten minutes later.
Sasuke could no longer sit up.
Naruto, however, continued at high speed for a full thirty minutes!
Then Naruto twisted his waist a few times before starting a series of squats.
His speed was astonishingly fast!
Seeing this, Sasuke forced himself back up.
He immediately stood and began doing squats as well.
Squats are this simple. I can definitely catch up with Naruto’s speed!
Twenty minutes later, Sasuke couldn’t even pull himself back up.
Even so, he continued desperately trying to accelerate.
Naruto finished thirty minutes of squats and then performed several leg kicks in place.
Sasuke, who could barely even stand anymore, could only stare at Naruto.
Then Naruto began doing high knees.
"How is this possible? Is he even human?"
Eight-thirty.
"Izumi, I’m going to school."
After taking a shower and eating breakfast, Naruto left the house with his schoolbag, which contained his lunch.
Downstairs, he saw Sasuke, who could barely walk properly and looked completely exhausted.
"Sasuke, what’s wrong with you? Did you do something last night?"
"Hmph!"
Sasuke snorted.
He absolutely didn’t dare mention what had happened that morning!
Naruto smiled.
Sasuke had been spying on him.
How could Naruto possibly not know?
He simply hadn’t bothered exposing him.
Shaking his head, Naruto put both hands behind his head and walked toward the Ninja Academy with an exaggerated, swaggering gait.
Sasuke followed behind him with an unsteady, almost snake-like gait, his eyes fixed firmly on Naruto.
How is this possible? He doesn’t look tired at all!
Today, Sasuke finally understood the gap between himself and Naruto.
At noon.
Ninja Academy.
"Sasuke, are you okay?"
Hinata looked worriedly at Sasuke, who had spent the entire morning sprawled across his desk like a dead snake.
Behind her, a group of lovestruck girls were also looking at Sasuke with equally concerned expressions.
They had completely lost their appetite for the lunches in their hands.
Sasuke could smell the food around him, and his stomach kept growling.
He had been completely exhausted that morning and hadn’t had the time—or the strength—to prepare a lunch for himself.
Normally, skipping lunch for one day wouldn’t be a problem.
But Sasuke hadn’t even eaten breakfast, and he had consumed an enormous amount of energy during his morning training.
Now he wasn’t just exhausted.
He was starving.
Fortunately, the classroom was noisy enough that nobody heard his stomach growling.
Otherwise, Sasuke would have wanted to crawl into a hole and hide.
At this moment, all he wanted was for the girls holding lunches around him to stay as far away from him as possible.
The farther, the better!
Just then, Naruto walked over.
He tossed a lunch box directly in front of Sasuke.
Sasuke froze.
"Izumi made it for you. Wash the lunch box and return it to me tonight."
With that, Naruto turned and walked away.
A warm feeling suddenly welled up in Sasuke’s heart.
He lowered his head and softly said,
"Thank you."
His eyes faintly reddened.
PS: This is the last Chapter for today.
I haven’t really explained Naruto’s training until now, so I wanted to write a Chapter about it and give everyone a proper explanation.
But writing nothing except his training would have been too boring.
I kept revising it, trying to make it more interesting.
Before I knew it, I’d written an entire Chapter...
It feels a little filler-heavy since there isn’t much plot, so the Chapter title is just a reminder.
