Konoha: Let's Just Destroy It
Chapter 111 - 110
Chapter 111: Chapter 110
Ibiki pointed toward the tense Konoha and Sand Village genin at the back of the examination room and said,
"Before the exam begins, don’t cause any trouble. Do you want to be eliminated immediately?"
Kiba clenched his fists and glared fiercely at Kankuro before turning around and walking away.
Naruto gestured to Sasuke and Hinata, then found a random seat and sat down.
The rest of Team 8, Team 9, Team 10, and the Sand shinobi squad each found their own seats.
Seeing this, Ibiki swept his gaze across the examination room once more and said,
"Before the exam begins, let me make one thing clear. Without the examiner’s permission, you are not allowed to fight among yourselves.
Even if an examiner gives you permission, you are not allowed to do anything that could kill your opponent.
Anyone who dares to disobey me will be eliminated immediately. Is that clear?"
The genin taking the exam nodded. Everyone wanted to pass and become a Chunin, so naturally, no one wanted to cause trouble.
Seeing this, Ibiki nodded in satisfaction.
"Good. Now, the first round of the Chunin Selection Exam begins.
Submit your application forms, take a numbered tag, and sit down according to your assigned number."
Soon, the genin received their number tags and took their seats accordingly.
The examiners sat around the room, and the test papers were distributed as well.
Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata were all separated.
Since the number tags were handed out randomly, cheating would be rather difficult, and there was no need to cheat in a place like this anyway.
So the three of them did not sit together.
Instead, Naruto happened to sit next to Karin by sheer coincidence.
Naruto couldn’t help staring for a moment when he saw Karin smiling at him.
She shouldn’t have had any way to cheat and get his number tag.
With hundreds of examinees, the chances of them ending up next to each other were incredibly small.
Karin, meanwhile, cast a grateful glance at Jugo’s back. The seat next to Naruto was the one Jugo had drawn.
Karin had deliberately waited until Naruto had taken his seat before checking the numbers of Suigetsu and Jugo.
She had never attended the Ninja Academy.
There was no way she could pass the written theory test.
All she could do was think about cheating by copying Naruto!
As for Suigetsu and Jugo?
They naturally had their own ways of cheating... probably.
Karin wasn’t worried about them at all.
Chief Examiner Ibiki tapped the blackboard with a piece of chalk.
"There are several very important rules for the first exam. I will only explain them once. After this, I will not answer any questions from you. Listen carefully.
First: All of you start with ten points.
This exam uses a deduction system. There are ten questions on the written test, and one point will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
Whether you pass or fail will be determined by the combined score of your three-man team.
Second: Any form of cheating, or behavior resembling cheating, will result in two points being deducted every time an examiner catches you.
In other words, some of you may be forced to withdraw from the exam before your papers are even graded.
You could even drag down the other members of your three-man team.
Anyone who cheats is only bringing about their own downfall!
You all want to become Chunin. Since you’re shinobi, take the exam like outstanding shinobi should.
And finally, if even one person on a team gets zero points, the entire team will be judged as having failed."
Karin’s eyes widened when she heard this.
She immediately looked toward Suigetsu and Jugo.
They wouldn’t have any problems, would they?
Ibiki continued,
"There are currently nine questions on your papers. The final question will be revealed forty-five minutes after the exam begins.
The exam will last one hour."
After a brief pause, Ibiki glanced at the clock.
The second hand reached fifty-nine, and the exact hour was about to begin.
"Begin!"
As soon as Ibiki gave the order, the genin picked up the pencils placed beside them and quickly began reading and answering the questions.
Naruto also picked up his test paper and gave it a quick look.
He didn’t know whether Ibiki’s final question would still be the same one from the original story.
To pass smoothly and avoid unnecessary risks, it was better to answer all the written questions.
Question One: Code Decryption.
It was quite simple.
The code translated into a passage of text.
Its meaning was essentially about the things one needed to pay attention to along the path of a shinobi.
Naruto immediately picked up his pencil and began translating.
"Following the advantages of military strategy and mastering countless skills and talents, one walks the path where, among all things, no one can surpass me..."
It was a passage consisting of more than a hundred characters.
Naruto quickly finished writing it down.
Karin beside him had no problems either. Deciphering codes was one of the most basic skills of a shinobi.
The code characters in the first question weren’t particularly obscure, either.
Karin quickly wrote down her answer.
Naruto’s eyesight was excellent. With nothing more than a glance from the corner of his eye, he could clearly see Karin’s answer.
Seeing that she hadn’t made a mistake, Naruto relaxed.
Then he looked at the second question.
A shinobi is standing on top of a seven-meter-high tree and throws a kunai. How can he hit a shinobi standing fifty meters away on the ground?Describe the characteristics of the shinobi on the ground.
Naruto’s face immediately darkened.
Why did they need so much theory?
It was just throwing a kunai at a stationary target. Couldn’t you hit it casually even with your eyes closed?
He knew it involved a parabola, but there was no way he could explain it!
He had never paid much attention during his time at the Ninja Academy, and when it came to textbooks, he only read the parts he found interesting. As for codes, no matter how difficult they were, if Naruto was given enough time, he could still decipher them.
But this... throwing a kunai that would hit its target no matter how you threw it.
Who would bother learning how to explain that with a parabola?
He wondered whether writing "Nothing special, just practice until you’re good at it" would count as a passing answer.
And what was with the second part of Question Two? What did they mean by the characteristics of the shinobi on the ground?
The entire test paper was only an A4 sheet.
Nine questions filled the page, with spaces left between them for the answers.
The picture drawn for the second question was only a few finger-widths in size.
The shinobi on the ground was literally just a stick figure!
What characteristics were there to describe?
Were they asking him to measure its height and body shape?
"Father, how am I supposed to answer this?"
Naruto could only call out to his father.
"Uh... this..."
Inside the seal space, Minato Namikaze couldn’t help scratching his head awkwardly.
He had forgotten too!
It had been decades. The way he fought had long since become instinctive.
Theoretical knowledge had been returned to his Ninja Academy teachers ages ago.
Who would bother remembering how to explain throwing a kunai that would hit its target no matter what?
His thoughts were exactly the same as Naruto’s.
Looking at the crystal ball in front of him, Minato suddenly had an idea. In an awkward tone, he said,
"Naruto, how about I switch the crystal ball to someone else’s test paper and let you copy? How about Sakura? She was the top student in your class when it came to theory."
Naruto’s face became stunned.
You’re the Fourth Hokage of Konoha! These are just questions for a genin exam.
And you don’t even know how to answer them?
Could you at least have some dignity?
"All right, let’s do that. Sakura should be fine."
Naruto still trusted Sakura’s theoretical knowledge.
"Mm."
Minato gave a soft hum and quickly switched the image in the crystal ball to Sakura’s test paper.
Naruto shifted part of his attention into the seal space.
His eyebrows immediately rose.
Not bad! Sakura had already reached Question Four.
Naruto stopped struggling and immediately began writing furiously according to Sakura’s answers.
Noticing Karin beside him looking completely bewildered, Naruto’s mind stirred.
He formed a hand seal with one hand.
He used the ability he had analyzed after killing a Root shinobi from the Yamanaka clan during the Uchiha clan’s massacre.
Ninja Art: Mind Connection Technique.
He quickly established a connection with Karin, Suigetsu, and Jugo.
The three of them seemed to notice something and froze for a moment.
"I’ll tell you the answers. You write them down. Question Two..."
Naruto’s voice suddenly echoed in their minds.
The three people’s eyes lit up.
They immediately picked up their pencils and began writing, as if they had suddenly been possessed by the spirit of top students, rapidly filling in their answers!
