“It’s you?” Defiant Providence exclaimed as he recognized the person.

“I can create an opportunity for you to exact vengeance.” Zu An looked at the pitiful man crouched in the corner of his cell. He had to admit that the Conqueror King was a perverted man.

Defiant Providence’s eyes quivered in agitation, but he quickly calmed down and sneered, “You’re merely the Conqueror King’s lackey. Is he using you as bait to lead me into making a mistake, so he can find a proper pretext to deal with me?”

Tasina had made a huge sacrifice to protect him. He couldn’t let her down.

Zu An could guess what he was thinking. He shook his head and said, “I'd never have expected the proud Defiant Providence to have become trash who survives by offering others his wife.”

In the fight between the Conqueror King and Defiant Providence, Jirgalang hadn’t supported the Conqueror King; instead, he'd backed Dissonant Melody’s ninth son, Confounding Crossroads, who was also this world’s Shunzhi Emperor, Fulin. The Conqueror King might not have said anything then, but he already harbored a grudge against Jirgalang.

Jirgalang nodded, agreeing with his judgment. “Another target we need to be wary about is the captain of the imperial guards, Suksaha. He’s in charge of defending the imperial palace. If unrest happens, there’s a high chance he may hold the emperor and the empress hostage. He may frame us as rebels, and that’ll put us in a very bad position.”

“Oboi is the vice-captain of the imperial guards. He’ll be able to tie down Suksaha.”

“What about Leng Sengji? He’s the Commander of the Nine Gates, presiding over all troops in the capital. If he closes the Nine Gates, we’ll be trapped like turtles in a jar.”

“Who says we’ll make a move in the capital? It's now the Conqueror King’s turf; his influence runs deep here. Our odds of bringing him down here are too slim.”

“Where else do you intend to deal with him?”

“Outside the city.”

“He’s a vigilant man. He won’t leave the city easily,” Jirgalang said with a frown.
