Chapter 2501: Making An Example to Intimidate

Chapter 2501: Making An Example to Intimidate

Having spent days with the monster commanders, Zu An knew that the Eighteen Monster Generals were eighteen renowned experts in the Monster World. Not only were they strong, they also each commanded great power and ruled over a territory. It could be said that anyone supported by these eighteen powerhouses was the true ruler of the Monster World.

The Monster Lord had ten of the Eighteen Monster Generals on his side, whereas the Lord of Slaughter only had the Warped Monster. There was a huge disparity in their fighting prowess. To make things worse, the latter's loyal subordinate, the Incestuous King, could potentially be dead. Things didn’t look optimistic for him.

The other commanders also had awful looks on their faces. After seeing the other side’s lineup, their earlier confidence had shattered.

While Zu An had fought these experts before, that was when they were weakened by the world barrier, whereas they could all exert their full strength now. He had previously been thinking of supporting the Monster Lord if the latter was at a disadvantage due to the ambush, but now, his priority shifted to how he could escape from this ordeal.

The Monster Lord’s lips crept upward as he spoke with his uniquely feminine voice. “You’re pulling our legs, master. They are only here so that we can serve you better.”

The Lord of Slaughter felt infuriated. That fellow is still putting on an act even at this point!

In truth, he had enjoyed such bootlicking in the past, or else he wouldn’t have trusted the Monster Lord so much as to even neglect his old subordinates like Mojard. And yet, in just a few years, the Monster Lord had already revealed his claws.

He suppressed his anger and put on an amicable face. “You came at a good time. I have just comprehended the Fiend races’ Imperial Tomb’s secret and need more manpower to aid me. With all of you here, even the Celestial Court won’t be a threat.”

The Monster Lord maintained a respectful tone. “May I know where the Celestial Court is?”

“This concerns the biggest secret of our Monster World. I can’t divulge it in public.” The Lord of Slaughter spent a moment in thought before beckoning him over. “Follow me. We’ll discuss this further in the secret chamber.”

The Monster Lord was moved. He was tempted by the secret of the Celestial Court as well. However, in the end, his rationality got the better of him, and he stood his ground. “Master, you don’t need to fool me. You have laid a trap in the Imperial Tomb. I will be dead if I head over.”

The Lord of Slaughter’s face darkened. “Brother, what do you mean?”

The Monster Lord laughed. “Master, those are tricks I have used for a long time. Don’t you think you’re underestimating me too much by using them against me?”

The Lord of Slaughter’s cheeks twitched. He had always been an arrogant man. This was the one time he'd lowered his pride to lure his opponent into a trap, only to have the latter mock him for it. It made his cheeks sting.

However, he let out a hearty laugh. “Yes, I am beneath you in terms of schemes and ploys, but do you think you have won? Only the strongest is worthy of taking this seat!”

His laughter reverberated deafeningly in the hall. The weaker ones among those present had to clutch their hearts to pull themselves together, but even the stronger ones felt their blood flow going into disarray.

Zu An had to concede that the Lord of Slaughter was terrifyingly powerful, but it didn’t change the fact that the odds were stacked against him.

The Lord of Slaughter understood there was no turning back once the battle began, so he held back the full strength of his voice. He wasn’t as decisive as when he'd reduced a third of his commanders into a blood fog.

The Monster Lord and his aides were startled by the terrifying pressure coming from the Lord of Slaughter’s laughter. However, the Monster Lord let out a harrumph, neutralizing the laughter’s bloodthirst with his feminine voice. That greatly reduced the pressure caused by the laugh.

“Times have changed, master. Individual prowess can only go so far. I am now in control of most of the Monster World’s army, while the soldiers loyal to you are all gone. You are alone, and I am surrounded by talents. Do you still not understand where you have gone wrong?” The Monster Lord sighed. “Let me offer you words I have learned from the new world—those who win the hearts of the masses win the world!”

“Pui!” The Lord of Slaughter spat in anger. “You’re nothing more than a dog I reared. You desperately tried to climb up the ranks while I was investigating the imperial tomb’s secret.”

He turned to the Monster Lord’s aides and said, “Upon my word, I have never mistreated you. If you side with me now, I won’t pursue this matter and will even share the Monster Lord’s territory and wealth with you, as well as the Celestial Court’s secret. You should know how important the Celestial Court is to our Monster World.”

That left many of the experts wondering if the Lord of Slaughter had truly deciphered the Celestial Court’s secret. In the Monster World, there was a legend that their origin was tied to the Celestial Court, and their founding ancestor was the master of the Celestial Court. There were rumors about how powerful the Celestial Court was, and that finding the Celestial Court would allow them to fully awaken their bloodline powers and become many times stronger than they currently were.

Sensing that his aides were beginning to waver, the Monster Lord interjected, “Master, you are still pulling our legs. If you have found the Celestial Court, you would have long sinceawakened your bloodline’s powers. All of us combined wouldn’t have been a match for you. There would have been no need for you to negotiate with us.”

The monsters widened their eyes in realization. That’s true. We were almost duped by that old thing!

The Plague Monarch snickered, “Others might consider surrendering to you, but I wouldn’t dare do so after having just poisoned your personal army outside. I wouldn’t dare believe your words even if you promised me the world.”

The Lord of Slaughter’s face distorted in anger and he roared, “So you were the culprit!” He wouldn’t have been in this predicament if not for his personal army falling for the Plague Monarch’s poison.

The War Priest stepped in front of the Plague Monarch and said, “Rest assured, Plague Monarch. We are on the same side. We all know that old thing is arrogant and hot-tempered. If we continue working under him, it’s only a matter of time before he kills us in a fit of anger.”

The other experts nodded. The Lord of Slaughter was known for his cruelty. It was unlikely for things to end well for them if they defected to his side.

Seeing that his plan had failed, the Lord of Slaughter was infuriated. “Bastard! I’ll kill you!”

He dashed over to the War Priest and swiped his claws at the latter’s head. He was so fast that the other experts had no time to react at all.

He intended to first eliminate the War Priest to intimidate the others!

The War Priest was prepared for his attack. He quickly whipped out a pitch-black Soul Summoning Banner and unleashed a surge of black aura at the Lord of Slaughter.

However, the aura that could repel countless beings failed to stop the Lord of Slaughter. The latter’s claws gripped the War Priest's face like the death god’s scythe.
