Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 2753: Instant Kill
"Mr. Xu," the butler suddenly appeared at the end of the corridor, "that room is not open to guests."
Whether he went in or not made no difference. Xu Huo closed the door and casually asked, "Does Mr. Wen know his house has been made so dirty?"
The butler remained silent.
Sometimes silence is also a statement.
Xu Huo bypassed him and returned downstairs.
The night came quickly again. After feeding the birds, Xu Huo left the door ajar, paying attention to the movements within the manor.
Perhaps the mysterious deaths of several players last night made the remaining ones become cautious. The players who came out, although they engaged in fights, were deliberate in keeping things quiet.
Since indiscriminate attacks were not possible, the best method at this time was to lay in wait by the stairs. No matter who the assassin was, they would eventually test the waters of going upstairs.
The players gradually began to hide. Using the invisibility prop allowed some to perch behind decorations or ornaments for two or three hours at a time.
On the travel instance side, the botanist and photographer were the first to leave their rooms. After they went to the garden and near Mrs. Ti Hui’s residence, the foodie and scholar came out next. These two monitored the other dungeon players, waiting for their opportunity to strike.
After another long wait, there was movement on the third floor first.
The cause was a player attempting to sneak upstairs under the cover of a prop. This naturally became the target of all eyes, with several players striking simultaneously. However, once the prop was released, it vanished quietly into the darkness, and even the player who had just gone up had no more movement.
Just as the others prepared to go up and check, a sudden drip-drop sound came from the stairs, followed by a large amount of fresh blood soaking the carpet. An oval-shaped object rolled desolately down — it was the player’s head!
The crowd was taken aback, but before they could react, a shadow fast enough that it was nearly impossible to catch with the eye darted past them!
"What was that!" a player blurted out, but before the words finished, his body broke into several pieces!
Not just the nearby players, but even Xu Huo, who had been staying in his room, abruptly stood. When a player’s evolution rate reached about eighty to ninety percent, their physical capabilities were similar, so without the aid of props and instruments, one couldn’t simply disappear from others’ sight just with speed. But the shadow that passed just now, not only was it hard to discern, players couldn’t even differentiate between man or beast, only feeling a thin stretch of black swiftly flash through their view. And that shadow came and went fast, with no one seeing where it came from or knowing where it vanished!
All the players in the manor started to move; Xu Huo quickly got up and went out of his room. When he entered the garden, he only had time to glance at the botanist, who had been gutted, before a shadow ferociously lunged at him!
The immense sense of crisis caused an instinctive use of the "Hand of Space-Time". As the Space Cutting Line bounced off, huge swathes of flowers along with the surrounding pavilion were sliced into scraps as if shredded, yet even under such intense defense, the shadow continued to move freely. Failing to land a hit, it speedily rounded in another direction!
The Spatial Body stacked layer upon layer like a fortress wall, silently forming a colossal barrier around Xu Huo, with Time Force crossing space to envelop him as well!
For ordinary players, the Space Body Belt was difficult to penetrate, but for the black shadow it was merely a breeze brushing by. Its speed not only did not diminish but forcibly tore through the defensive barrier, yet just before charging into the scope of Time Force, it suddenly stopped!
It was at this moment that Xu Huo barely caught the shadow’s silhouette. It seemed to be a well-built figure at least two meters tall, clad in a thick cape-like feather garment that not only obscured its form but also blurred its head, making it impossible to see clearly!
After hesitating for an extremely brief moment, that shadow vanished into the sea of flowers before any other players could arrive.
Xu Huo stood on the spot, with both his childhood and adolescent personas appearing along its path, watching where the shadow disappeared.
"Did you catch it?" came a player’s voice from behind. By then, the shadow had already disappeared underground. Xu Huo put on gloves and turned to check the botanist’s corpse.
When Xu Huo came down from the upstairs, the person was already dead. The shadow not only had extraordinary speed but its destructive power was anything but ordinary. Compared to the player who had been chopped into pieces earlier, the botanist’s death was much uglier. The force ripping open the abdomen was so strong that his innards were all pulled out, with a small part stuck on his own face while the rest was flung far away.
The scholar and others’ faces appeared grave. They had anticipated the attack, but didn’t expect the risk to be this high. A Rank-B player was killed before they even faced him, indicating that none present could stand against that shadow!
"An ordinary player wouldn’t commit such psychotic acts." A lady in a green dress player remarked, "The holder of this instance may not even be human."
They initially suspected Mr. Wen, yet from the state of the deceased, it was hard to determine the murderer’s mental state as normal, clearly ruling Mr. Wen out.
Even if he were to have a split personality, it wouldn’t suddenly double his fighting capacity.
"Fingernails." Xu Huo found a hard piece embedded in the prop by the botanist’s wound.
"It’s a human fingernail," the foodie stated quickly. "Judging from the thickness, it should be mutated. Some secondary evolvers can change certain parts of their body’s constitution."
"Did you see clearly who it was just now?" He then asked Xu Huo.
"Wearing a protective suit, face was not visible, over two meters tall, definitely a secondary evolver." Xu Huo looked back towards the manor, "When you all came out, were the bodies of the two deceased still in place?"
The person is already dead, who would care about the state of the corpse?
"The butler came out," reminded the scholar.
Xu Huo quickly collected the botanist’s corpse and followed the group back to the manor. However, the bodies of the two players who died on the fourth and third-floor stairs had already disappeared, not even a trace of blood was left behind. Confronted by the dim wall lamps, everyone felt chills down their backs.
After two seconds of silence, a player suddenly turned around and raised the butler up, interrogating, "Was it you who killed them? Otherwise, how could you arrive so fast!"
Though typically courteous, the butler’s face turned grave at this moment. He slightly lowered his eyelids, glaring through the narrow slits at the person before him, "It’s getting late, you all should be resting in your rooms instead of wandering about aimlessly."
The player holding him was indifferent, "If it’s not you then it must be that old hag, or else the sickly person upstairs..."
Before he could finish his sentence, the butler’s fingers suddenly plunged violently into the player’s throat!
