Chapter 311: Ye Xiaohan Returns to Take Revenge

  • Next Chapter

On this day, Chu Fan was still in the small courtyard at Celestial Heart Hall, teaching martial techniques to Wen Ang, Ni Cailing, and Bai Yun—the three little ones.

Unexpectedly, just before noon, a message arrived saying that Ye Xiaohan had returned to Xingyuan City, seeking revenge.

With Ye Xiaohan’s current cultivation, he, along with Wang Xing and Qi Wei, would have no problem dealing with the Xingyuan City Ye Family.

However, after some thought, Chu Fan decided to go and see for himself.

The distance from Shuoyue City to Xingyuan City was just over twenty thousand li. At his current speed, he could get there in less than an hour.

He then gave the three little ones a few tasks before heading to Xingyuan City alone.

After arriving in Xingyuan City, he disguised himself as a guard for the shopkeeper of the Xingyuan City branch of Mr. Hong’s Auction House and went to the Ye Family estate with him.

“Shopkeeper Qiao, I never thought you’d come in person! Your presence truly brings honor to our humble Ye Family. Shopkeeper Qiao, please, come inside.”

At the entrance to the Ye Family estate, Ye Shanglun’s two sons saw Shopkeeper Qiao and the disguised Chu Fan. They were extremely polite as they welcomed them into the courtyard.

By now, any of the slightly larger Noble Families in the Eastern Domain knew about the relationship between Mr. Hong’s Auction House and the Great Xia Royal Family.

Therefore, for the shopkeeper of a branch of Mr. Hong’s Auction House to come and celebrate was a matter of immense honor for the Ye Family.

Chu Fan followed them into the courtyard. Shopkeeper Qiao was led to the head table, and a steward originally intended to lead Chu Fan to a seat at a side table.

However, Chu Fan simply stood behind Shopkeeper Qiao, showing no intention of moving.

After several polite attempts, the steward could only let him remain standing there.

One hundred and twenty tables.

Chu Fan surveyed the guests throughout the entire courtyard.

Although there were many people, Chu Fan could tell that most were not the patriarchs of their respective families, but merely representatives sent in their place.

Someone like the shopkeeper of Mr. Hong’s Auction House, who came to celebrate in person, was truly a distinguished guest.

Not long after Chu Fan and Shopkeeper Qiao arrived, an aged Ye Shanglun, dressed in festive red robes, came to the front courtyard. Amidst the sound of firecrackers from outside and the strains of celebratory music, a young woman in a wedding gown entered the courtyard, her face hidden by a veil and accompanied by a group of women.

After the new bride walked to his side, Ye Shanglun clasped his fists to the guests in all directions and said in a clear voice, “What virtue have I, Ye Shanglun, to deserve this? At my great age, not only am I able to take a new wife, but I am also blessed by the presence of all of you here to celebrate. This old man thanks you all for gracing us with your attendance.”

With that, Ye Shanglun bowed deeply.

The new bride wore a red veil, so others could not see her face. But for Chu Fan, whose Spiritual Power was already at Level 36, how could a mere red veil obstruct his vision?

Chu Fan couldn’t help but frown when he saw the young woman’s face.

‘This girl… she’s as delicate as a willow, not even fully grown. Her face is still so childish. She can’t be much older than Ni Cailing.’

‘That old bastard is almost ninety. How could he bring himself to do this?’

‘A man like that truly deserves to die!’

Taking a concubine was, after all, just that; there was no ceremony of bowing to Heaven and Earth. Ye Shanglun stood before the crowd and gave a long, rambling speech, thanking the guests for their attendance on the one hand.

On the other, he bragged, saying how the Ye Family had once raised warhorses for the Da Zhao and was now raising Wind Chasing Beasts for the Great Xia. He claimed that with the favor of the Celestial Family, the Ye Family would only grow more glorious.

He went on to say that since everyone held the Ye Family in such high regard, he hoped for even closer cooperation with them in the future… and so on.

Just as Ye Shanglun finished his lengthy speech and invited the guests to eat, drink, and be merry, a bloodcurdling scream rang out from beyond the courtyard gates.

Then, everyone turned to see the screen wall being blasted to pieces.

Three figures walked into the courtyard through the rubble of the collapsed wall.

“Insolence! Who are you people? How dare you come here and cause trouble?” The one who spoke was Ye Shanglun’s eldest son.

Ye Xiaohan’s face was a mask of frost as he walked forward, step by step.

“Eight years. It’s been eight years. You must have enjoyed your eight years of wealth, haven’t you? You all should have gone to Hell long ago. Not only did you get to live eight more years, but you enjoyed eight years of glory and riches. You ask who I am? I’ll tell you. I’m the one who’s come to claim your lives.”

Ye Xiaohan spoke calmly, but every word seemed to strike at the hearts of the crowd.

Ye Shanglun’s eldest son frowned. “The height of arrogance! Men, seize these three! Today is the Patriarch’s wedding day; it is not a day for bloodshed. Lock them in the woodshed for now. We’ll deal with them tomorrow.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a squad of family guards surrounded the three of them.

They attacked without another word.

Ye Xiaohan remained standing where he was. Wang Xing and Qi Wei drew their blades and, in a matter of moments, cut down all the guards.

Flashes of steel filled the air as blood sprayed forth. Many of the guests were ordinary people who had never witnessed such a scene. Their faces turned deathly pale with fear, and they all jumped to their feet, scrambling to get as far away as possible.

“You…” Ye Shanglun’s eldest son pointed a finger at Ye Xiaohan and his companions, but before he could say more, Ye Shanglun himself spoke.

“Just who are you people? What grudge do you hold against our Ye Family that you would slaughter your way to our doorstep today?”

“Old bastard, it seems your eyes are useless now. You don’t even recognize me. Listen closely. My name is Ye Xiaohan,” Ye Xiaohan said coldly.

Many guests began to murmur amongst themselves, wondering about Ye Xiaohan’s identity. However, some from the older Noble Families of Xingyuan City had heard the name before.

Hearing the name Ye Xiaohan, Ye Shanglun’s expression changed. He spat venomously, “I should have known it was you, you bastard! Back then, this old man was too kind and spared your worthless life. I never thought you’d dare to come back and cause trouble.”

“Old bastard, spare me your high-and-mighty act. There are plenty of old Noble Families from Xingyuan City here. Many of them know exactly what you did back then. I didn’t come here today to debate the rights and wrongs of the past. A blood debt can only be paid with blood. The Ye Family of Xingyuan City no longer needs to exist.”

“Just you?” Ye Shanglun’s second son said with a laugh.

Ye Xiaohan paid him no mind. He coldly shook his head, drew his sword, lunged forward, swung the blade, and took the man’s head—all in one seamless motion.

The smile was still on the face of Ye Shanglun’s second son, but his head had already left his body and hit the ground.

“Old bastard, let out all the dogs you’ve raised. Today, the Ye Family estate is destined to be washed in a river of blood. No one can stop it,” Ye Xiaohan said coldly, his long sword still dripping with blood.

By this point, all of the Ye Family’s guards had gathered in the front courtyard. But seeing how powerful Ye Xiaohan and his two companions were, they all clutched their weapons, yet not a single one dared to step forward.

Ye Xiaohan’s power had stunned Ye Shanglun as well.

“Lord Li, this man is committing mass murder in my Ye Family’s home! Shouldn’t you do something about this?” Ye Shanglun shouted to a middle-aged man at the head table, where Chu Fan was standing.

The middle-aged man waved his hand and said, “This is a private matter for your Ye Family. This official received an order from my superiors at noon: the Xingyuan City Government Office is not to interfere in the Ye Family’s internal strife.”

“Why? We of the Ye Family are also subjects of the Great Xia!” Ye Shanglun said indignantly.

“Patriarch Ye, please don’t make things difficult for me. I dare not get involved in this matter. These are orders from above. If you have the ability to kill them, we won’t ask any questions,” the middle-aged man said.

“Hahaha!” Ye Shanglun suddenly burst into laughter.

His expression then changed again, becoming much more savage. He said, “Did you think we were out of options? Ye Xiaohan, you’re nothing but a bastard. We could kill your relatives eight years ago, and now that you’ve delivered yourself to our door today, you won’t be leaving.”

At this, Ye Shanglun turned to a group of people at a table to his right, clasped his fists, and said, “I must ask you to act. From this day forward, my Ye Family will pledge allegiance to you.”
