Chapter 308: Beginning the Layout for the Southern Domain
“What the Gods forbid, I shall pursue. By what right do the Gods rule the Three Realms?”
Arrogant. Just as arrogant as the name of their organization.
‘But it seems this group doesn’t have any cultured people. Their slogan doesn’t even rhyme. Thumbs down!’
After listening to Ji Bufan’s account, Chu Fan fell silent for a long time in contemplation. ‘It seems the God Slaughter Hall is destined to become my mortal enemy,’ he thought.
“Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated.” But just doing that, Chu Fan felt, wasn’t enough.
He had to plant a mole inside the God Slaughter Hall—a mole who could sow chaos from within at any moment, a dagger aimed at their heart.
Having made his decision, Chu Fan turned his gaze to Ying Xiao and called out, “Ying Xiao!”
“Your subordinate is here!”
“From this day forward, the Dark Night Envoys will be renamed Blood Shadow. I want you to take your men to the Southern Domain,” Chu Fan said.
“My lord, are you sending us to assassinate members of the God Slaughter Hall?”
“No. First, target some of the most wicked clans and factions. Build up a reputation for Blood Shadow. You can clash with the God Slaughter Hall, but only on the condition that you ensure your own safety. Then, wait for the God Slaughter Hall to try and recruit you.”
Several of the seven men already understood Chu Fan’s intentions, but Ying Xiao was still confused.
“My lord, you want us to serve our sworn enemy?”
Chu Fan smiled, shook his head, and said, “No. Bufan, why don’t you explain it to Ying Xiao.”
Ji Bufan nodded and explained, “Our lord’s intention is for you, the Dark Night Envoys, to become a core force within the God Slaughter Hall. Ideally, you’ll infiltrate their upper echelons, gain control of the entire organization, and keep track of their movements at all times. When the time comes for our lord to make his move, you can provide support from within and deal the God Slaughter Hall a fatal blow.”
“My lord, what if after we join the God Slaughter Hall, they order us to commit evil deeds as well?” Ying Xiao asked.
Chu Fan narrowed his eyes and nodded. “You go first. After some time, I will also head to the Southern Domain under a different identity. Perhaps I will personally join the God Slaughter Hall as the true leader of Blood Shadow. Of course, this is just a preliminary plan. Everything will depend on the situation after I arrive in the Southern Domain. The prerequisite is that you, Blood Shadow, first make a name for yourselves.”
Upon hearing this, Ying Xiao was thrilled. To fight side-by-side with their lord was the common wish of all eight of them.
Lan Bing, however, said worriedly, “My lord, you must not! A wise man does not stand by a crumbling wall. How can you so easily put yourself in danger?”
Liu Yicai was equally concerned. “Yes, Number Two is right. My lord, your life is invaluable. How can you take such a risk? Just let us handle this matter.”
Chu Fan waved his hand dismissively. “Enough. I already said it’s just a preliminary plan. As for your ‘invaluable life’ and ‘not standing by a crumbling wall,’ don’t say such things again. None of us is nobler than anyone else. When I first met you all, wasn’t I like a stray dog myself? In any case, I have more tricks up my sleeve than you do. I may not have other skills, but I can at least protect myself.”
Seeing that no one objected further, Chu Fan continued, “Besides, even if I go, it won’t be right away. It will be at least half a year from now.”
“My lord, we will go with you,” Lan Bing said.
Chu Fan shook his head. “There’s no need. The Eastern Domain is our main base of operations. While I’m gone, you must defend it. I killed the God Slaughter Hall’s vanguard tonight. They might come back for revenge before long. That’s why I said it would be at least half a year.”
“Alright, go to the shore of Celestial Wave Lake and make arrangements. Have everyone who needs to withdraw do so. Just leave a few people behind to secretly monitor the lake. Ji Bufan, you must keep the entire Eastern Domain under surveillance and have a rapid response plan for any suspicious individuals. Ying Xiao, you start your preparations. If you need anything, discuss it with the others. If they can’t provide it, come directly to me. You must depart within a month at the latest.”
“Oh, right!” Chu Fan took out three bottles of elixirs and said, “Here are thirteen Integration Pills, one Primordial Spirit Pill, and this bottle contains over a hundred Recovery Pills.”
Chu Fan explained the effects of the three types of elixirs and stuffed the bottles into Ying Xiao’s hands.
Since they were going to the Southern Domain, any increase in the Dark Night Envoys’ strength would mean a decrease in the dangers they faced.
Ying Xiao took the elixirs, his heart filled with gratitude. He immediately declared in a loud voice, “This subordinate thanks you, my lord! We, the Dark Night Envoys, will depart in seven days!”
“You can arrange the specific time. As for money or resources, don’t hesitate to ask.”
After speaking, Chu Fan dismissed them and left the auction house himself.
Dawn was breaking, and he still had to go back and teach his two disciples their Cultivation!
In fact, after several years of development in the Eastern Domain’s Cultivation Realm, the eight of them, including Jing’an and Lan Bing, had gained significant influence.
The reason was simply that their Cultivation and Combat Power were plain to see. Furthermore, the old ancestors of the few remaining Sects from the original Six Sects and Eight Gates had drunk the Drunken Immortal Brew. Now, with their lifespans extended, they were able to leave their secluded homes, and they also owed Chu Fan a debt.
In addition, after the unification of Great Xia, although the Martial Arts Discipline Bureau was established to inspect all the Sects in the land, as long as they didn’t commit evil, not only did they not feel restricted, they actually gained more and developed better than before.
When Lan Bing and the others returned to the encampment, they gathered the representatives sent by the various Sects and informed them that the bandits on Three Mountains Island had been completely wiped out. Every single one of them was skeptical.
After they sent a group to Three Mountains Island and received the report, they were all stunned.
‘Who went to Three Mountains Island and killed them?’
‘Why hadn’t they heard any news? They hadn’t even sensed the slightest disturbance.’
In response to their inquiries, Lan Bing and the others all wore inscrutable expressions.
In truth, they desperately wanted to say that Lord Chu had single-handedly slaughtered everyone on Three Mountains Island, but Lord Chu had warned them not to reveal the news of his return.
So, they couldn’t say anything.
After dawn, the encampment began to be dismantled. The members of the various Sects departed one after another, filled with endless questions.
However, no one complained that if Lan Bing and the others had this kind of strength, they should have cleared out Three Mountains Island sooner.
After all, they had fought dozens of battles, large and small, against those bandits, and the one that had suffered the most losses was the Yellow Storm Mercenary Corps.
Therefore, they guessed that Lan Bing and the others must have brought in powerful outside help.
The various Sects withdrew from the shores of Celestial Wave Lake, but of course, Chu Fan paid no mind to this matter.
After rushing about all night, he returned to Celestial Heart Hall and focused all his attention on teaching his two disciples.
Teaching two such talented and hardworking disciples was a joy for any master. It was like a painter creating a peerless masterpiece on a blank sheet of paper.
The identity of White Fox had, in fact, always been the biggest question in Chu Fan’s mind.
The more time he spent with her, the more things she revealed about herself, which only made his questions grow deeper and more numerous.
She seemed incredibly naive, even more so than Cailing. Yet, things she said from time to time suggested she had experienced something extraordinary in her past. But if he pressed her for details, her answer was always the same: “I don’t know why I know, but I just do.”
In fact, Chu Fan had a plan concerning White Fox. He wanted to find some time to take her to Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain. After all, when it came to understanding Demon Beasts, no one in the world was more knowledgeable than the King of Ten Thousand Beasts, Yan Jiuxuan.
He hadn’t seen Yan Jiuxuan in a long time, either. Besides, the long list of items compiled by those four old-timers involved many Spirit Medicines, and Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain was probably the only place to gather them.
