Junior Sister, I Really Have to Control You
Chapter 138 - 95: Three Yang Spirit Fire
Chapter 138: Chapter 95: Three Yang Spirit Fire
Beside him, Shangguan Ling’Er tilted her head and stared at him.
She wondered what he meant by saying there were currently no Cultivators who excelled at Artifact Refining. Did he not know that at this exact moment, there was only one person left in Xuanzhen Temple? If they had brought Ningzhi along when they came, the entire Xuanzhen Temple would have practically turned out in full force!
"If Mu fumbles through Artifact Refining on her own, I’m afraid she will take many detours," Yanyu said, her face full of pity. "The mere thought of such a promising seedling wasting her time and squandering her talent tears my heart apart."
She then said sincerely, "Why doesn’t Li let Mu become a guest refiner at my Zulu Temple? That way, she can come over frequently to exchange ideas, and I can offer her some guidance."
"A guest refiner?" Li Yinsheng was a bit confused.
"There are dozens of Daoist Temples under our Dharma Vein. Although only a few, like my Zulu Temple and Bifeng Temple, focus primarily on Artifact Refining, the other Daoist Temples will more or less have some Cultivators who Minor in Artifact Refining," Yanyu explained. "However, those other Daoist Temples generally don’t have the business of selling Magical Artifacts. Thus, when the Artifact Refiners there forge Magical Artifacts, they have to sell them on their own.
"Not only is this troublesome, but they also might not be able to sell them at a fair price. Therefore, many Artifact Refiners consign their Magical Artifacts to be sold at Daoist Temples like my Zulu Temple, which specialize in Artifact Refining.
"Once a Magical Artifact is sold, my Zulu Temple takes a small cut, and the remaining talismanic coins are handed over to the Artifact Refiner who consigned it."
Li Yinsheng suddenly understood.
"But becoming a guest refiner takes this a First Layer deeper," Yanyu said. "Over time, some Artifact Refiners who regularly consign their wares become familiar with Zulu Temple.
"Zulu Temple frequently receives commissions for custom-made Magical Artifacts. Sometimes, we entrust these to familiar and reliable Artifact Refiners to forge on our behalf, with Zulu Temple taking a slight commission.
"Such Artifact Refiners are known as guest refiners at Zulu Temple. Though they don’t belong to Zulu Temple, they maintain a close relationship with it.
"Therefore, guest Artifact Refiners frequently exchange insights with the Artifact Refiners in Zulu Temple. They occasionally receive guidance from seniors, and a select few can even learn some of Zulu Temple’s Artifact Refining Techniques and Magic."
Li Yinsheng looked thoughtful. "Wouldn’t Zulu Temple be at a huge disadvantage that way?"
"Being able to communicate more with fellow Cultivators who excel at Artifact Refining is also highly beneficial to Zulu Temple," Yanyu smiled. "Moreover... one of the greatest advantages of an Artifact Refiner is their network of connections."
Li Yinsheng caught on.
The Artifact Refiners who became guest refiners at Zulu Temple certainly wouldn’t have low skill levels. An Artifact Refiner with a high level of skill wouldn’t hold a low status in their own Daoist Temple, either. To Zulu Temple, this meant that in many Daoist Temples, there was a high-status Cultivator who maintained a good relationship with them. Because of this, those Daoist Temples would naturally lean slightly in favor of Zulu Temple when dealing with them.
Although this bias wouldn’t be massive, the cost of allowing other Artifact Refiners to become guest refiners at Zulu Temple was equally low.
Of course, the part about consigning Magical Artifacts didn’t matter much to Li Yinsheng. Even though Artifact Refiners indeed made good money, he didn’t expect to rely on his junior sister’s Artifact Refining to support Xuanzhen Temple. Besides, his junior sister currently couldn’t even forge unranked Magical Artifacts.
The truly important part was that guest Artifact Refiners could receive guidance from the seniors in Zulu Temple, and even learn some of Zulu Temple’s Artifact Refining Techniques and Magic.
"Since that’s the case, I will have to trouble Yanyu," Li Yinsheng smiled.
"I’ll have my disciples arrange it right away." Joy appeared on Yanyu’s face.
"By the way, Yanyu," Li Yinsheng asked casually, "in the path of Artifact Refining, aside from massive amounts of bitter practice, is there any method for rapid success without side effects?"
He wasn’t actually harboring much hope; he was just asking out of curiosity. Given the status and money-making abilities of Artifact Refiners, if there really were a reliable quick-success method, it would have spread long ago.
As Li Yinsheng expected, Yanyu shook her head and chuckled gently. "Li must be joking. If such a rapid method truly existed, I would have long since used it to nurture outstanding juniors."
After a brief pause to think carefully, she added, "However, even though there’s no quick-success method, there is indeed a way in the path of Artifact Refining that can make forging Magical Artifacts much easier for an Artifact Refiner.
"Moreover, it won’t produce any side effects. It even provides some benefits to cultivation or Magical Combat."
"There’s actually such a good thing?" Li Yinsheng was surprised.
"It’s just extremely difficult, so very few people can make use of it," Yanyu explained. "Li should know that when Artifact Refining, the first step is to temper and purify the materials.
"Aside from needing acute Divine Sense, what’s actually more important in this step is the flame used when tempering and purifying the materials.
"The stronger the flame, the easier it is to Refine the materials, thereby separating out their impurities.
"Every Artifact Refiner pursues stronger and fiercer flames. All the Artifact Refiners in my Zulu Temple, including myself and my three junior brothers, cultivate a Fire Element Technique.
"It’s only by using a Fire Element Technique to cast Fire Element Magic that the power of the resulting flames can be elevated to its maximum."
"So, Yanyu’s meaning is to have my junior sister switch to cultivating a Fire Element Technique?" Li Yinsheng asked.
"Doing so would improve the power of Fire Element Magic, but not by much," Yanyu said, shaking her head earnestly. "We specialize in cultivating Fire Element Techniques merely to strive for perfection. If one truly wants to obtain an immensely powerful flame, the best method is to Refine an inherently tyrannical Spirit Fire and integrate it into one’s own origin.
"That way, when casting any Fire Element Magic, its power will increase greatly, and it won’t be difficult to control.
"If the Refined Spirit Fire inherently possesses some bizarre abilities, then after Refinement, one will also be able to wield them to a certain extent."
