Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor
Chapter 1959 Thief & Assassin
True Qi Path Holy Land, Wisdom Peak:
Su Chengfeng calmly waters his plants while meticulously nourishing them with his Qi. The world and his mind were in chaos, and he desperately needed an anchor to calm down. Over the years, he had discovered that gardening did the trick. Although he started doing it to appear wiser and more sophisticated, the practice had grown on him.
"Holy Lord, Holy Lord, good news," a young-looking elder rushed into the garden.
"Elder Jun, you know I don't like to be disturbed during my gardening."
"I apologize, Holy Lord, but this is an emergency."
Su Chengfeng stopped, closed his eyes, and exhaled deeply. "What is it?"
"The Heavenly Emp…I mean, that woman was attacked by an unknown Saint."
"Really?" Su Chengfeng turned around.
"We don't know much, but it's been verified she was attacked, and the court was forced to teleport its legion away from the battlefield to prevent these soldiers from getting in the way."
"Good. Let me see the report?"
Elder Jun handed him an information talisman, and Su Chengfeng swiftly read the report. Over the years, their holy land hadn't completely abandoned the outside world. Instead, they changed tactics—including adapting to the new world. They've trained countless Emperor Dao spies to maintain their shadow network. And although the Heavenly Court has done an excellent job of rooting out these traitors, the True Qi Path Holy Land kept evolving and trying until they reached the point of maintaining basic operations.
"Holy Lord, should we start our plan now that she's occupied?"
"No, not yet."
"Why not? Isn't this a perfect opportunity?"
"The perfect opportunity is after the battle," Su Chengfeng explained.
"I'm not following."
"If she loses, she'll die, and we don't have to worry about anything. If she wins, she'll also be severely injured — whether by the enemy or from the backlash — and need time to recuperate. And while in a weakened state, the court will do everything in its power to protect her, including stationing that old Qilin as her guard. That's when we need to move."
"I see your point," Elder Jun said, nodding. "However, I don't think the other Virtue Masters will agree; they might think waiting will increase the variables involved."
Su Chengfeng groaned. Unlike other holy lands that centralized all their power in one person—the Holy Lord —the True Qi Path Holy Land is ruled by a Lord and two Vice-Lords. The three worked together and checked and balanced each other. After his master died from using their Saint Artifact, Su Chengfeng took power, but he was the weakest of the three. Luckily, the threat of annihilation forced the other two to commit a lot of power.
"No matter what, I'll convince them."
Su Chengfeng flicked his wrist to send a talisman toward Fortitude and Justice Peak. This meeting will be an opportunity for him to show his abilities and truly regain his power and status as a Holy Lord. As such, Su Chengfeng was prepared to go all out.
Samsara Battlefield:
Wu Hong flew into the sky, evading and blocking all of the Death Assassin's attacks. A few times, she tried to teleport from this battlefield, but the enemy would interrupt her at every turn. Saints' power was too much, and Wu Hong truly feared their battles would destroy all the repairs she'd accomplished so far. Unfortunately, that damn assassin insisted on maintaining the current environment.
"I need a new strategy…Um? Why have I used so much Grand Dao Qi?" After a quick calculation, Wu Hong realized she had used 7% more Qi than she should have. As someone who has mastered the [Force Control Skill], there is no way she'd make a mistake and overuse her energy.
Wu Hong focused on her opponent. The only new, unknown variable in her life was this attacker. "Let's see what you're capable of." Wu Hong didn't take a passive approach to observing or analyzing her opponent's abilities; instead, she went on the offensive to force him to reveal his powers.
Clink! Clink! Clink!
Wu Hong kept clashing with the assassin's dagger while flying upward. The Six Path Samsara is infinite, but the destroyed one had an edge — a place where there was only chaotic space. Since she couldn't teleport away, Wu Hong used this method to move the battlefield to another location.
"He's stealing my Grand Dao Qi?" she thought. Every time they clashed, two portions of her energy dissipated. The first one boosted her attacks or techniques, but the other one was unknown; it just vanished out of nowhere.
"Interesting. A master of Assassination and Thievery? Both Daos do complement each other," Wu Hong thought. With one step, she moved forward, leaving a shadow behind her, and swung her sword. The assassin reacted swiftly and blocked with his daggers, but the force pushed him back a few meters in the air.
Wu Hong took advantage of the momentum and pushed forward, chaining one slash attack after the other. Death Assassin tried his best to keep pace, but he was rapidly losing strength and momentum.
"Damn it, I knew it would be annoying to fight this woman; I didn't expect it to be like this," Death Assassin thought. Wu Hong's file mentioned how frustrating it could be to fight her, but it was one thing to read about it and another to experience it. Every swing of his sword, she somehow sealed a bit of his muscles, bones, organs, soul energy, Dao, and anything that contributes to Death Assassin's physical strength.
Bang!
Death Assassin turned into a cloud of black smoke, disappearing and reappearing a few light-years away. However, Wu Hong appeared right next to him, already prepared to strike. Another cloud of smoke appeared, but to Death Assassin's aura, most of his teleportation was sealed, forcing him to land only less than a hundred meters away.
And this time, Wu Hong was prepared. A crunching sound echoed throughout the void as the Divine Seal Empress kicked Death Assassin in his sternum, sending him flying countless light-years away. Wu Hong teleported again, appearing above the flying assassin and kicking him downward; she then repeated the trick a third time, sending him flying upward. However, a cloud of smoke once again appeared.
Instinctively, Wu Hong sealed him again, but her attempt failed this time. "Not teleportation?" Wu Hong thought. She raised her hand to touch the rock debris her punch had annihilated. "Substitution?" The void contained countless pieces of debris from the destroyed Six Paths Samsara, and over the years, they had condensed into extremely hard rocks that resembled meteors.
Wu Hong glanced at the highest level of the void, and everywhere her sight landed, a plethora of "asteroids" covered the land. She frowned. These asteroids, which the people of this world called Remnant Rocks, were a bit tricky to deal with. After learning they existed, Wu Hong tried to use them as materials for many things, including building the court. After all, they were the remnants of a Grand Construct.
Unfortunately, these things were weird. No method could detect their inner mechanism; they couldn't be molded into other shapes; small pieces could be annihilated into powder, which she used to mix with other alloys to build the court, but they only strengthened death or life materials and had no other effects.
Wu Hong did not enter the asteroid belt to search. It would be stupid to enter an environment favorable to the enemy, not to mention it was the assassin who wanted to kill her, not the other way around.
"I have all the time in the world," Wu Hong said, her voice spreading to every corner of the void. On another note, the Remnant Rocks gave her an idea on how to solve a problem the court was facing. Without wasting another word, she began to hull these asteroids and launched them at the Red Cloud horde that was massacring the court's Silver Legion.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The meteors crashed on the ground, killing billions of Destructo Beasts. And with Wu Hong's Saint Will, these beasts were annihilated for good as their immortality was suppressed. The avatar used this opportunity to open the barrier and order the surviving Silver Legions to retreat behind it.
"You showed up," Wu Hong said, looking at Death Assassin. She frowned. "Why, though? It's not like you care about these people. Hm, now that I think about it, this timeline is closed. How did you get in? I see. You've made some kind of deal with Gu Chang'an. Since he's currently occupied, he allowed you to come and eliminate his problem."
"Hasn't anyone told you that you're too talkative?"
"Quite the opposite. However, it seems that husband of mine didn't just bring me trouble — he's even changed my personality a bit."
"Don't worry. I'll send you to him in a while."
Wu Hong chuckled. "No, you don't have to worry. You're the perfect nutrient to repair this timeline's underworld, so I won't kill you — at least, not for a while."
The two rushed forward and clashed. And as soon as their weapons touched, Wu Hong's complexion became severe.
