Chapter 1675: The Pure Inferno World (II)
Chapter 1675: The Pure Inferno World (II)
’What a sad world,’ Wang Wei thought. For eons, their fate has been to suffer endless torment, just because many old men wanted to design a test. Wang Wei shook his head and continued heading deeper into the sect. He sensed a fluctuation that intrigued him, so he checked it out. He bypassed the array to enter a cultivation room.
A woman in white clothes sat cross-legged as her body released two auras: fiery red and calm blue. Most of her body was covered in a red aura, with a subtle blue one trying to resist. Her face contorted in pain, but she persevered. However, upon close observation, Wang Wei did not like her odds.
’The Water and Ice Laws of this world have been completely suppressed to the point that it’s almost impossible to cultivate any technique,’ Wang Wei analyzed. ’No, this is not just suppression. The very concept of ice is almost non-existent in the world. The society even went as far as severely restricting access to Water or Yin-related Grand Dao Source.’
Wang Wei looked behind the woman. The Ice Mountain Sect was built on one of this world’s very few spiritual ice. For generations, they’ve used its power to neutralize the Fire Dao in their Inner World and escape the Great Eruption. He glanced at her and decided not to interact.
It didn’t take a genius to guess that this world would not be too kind to outsiders. Wang Wei doesn’t think he’s the first one to come to this world to try the trial. The existence of the Life Preservation Order hinted that knowledge is somehow preserved from each eruption, and they are wary of people entering the trial’s gate and possibly advancing the time frame of the eruption.
The books in this library revealed much information. However, a frown was plastered on Wang Wei’s face. His intuition warned him of good fortune, so he thought there was something unique in this place, but those records showed no indication of anything valuable. So, he secretly spread his divine sense to the other sects and flipped through their records.
’Let’s visit the forbidden zones,’ Wang Wei thought before teleporting away. His first destination was the Black Lake Forbidden Area. As soon as he arrived, he ignored all the people secretly sleeping in this place and headed to the core. A bright lake surrounded by an eerie fog and constant screams of souls appeared before him.
As he observed the lake, Wang Wei’s eyes peered through the veil of time and saw a young, unparalleled genius who rose to the peak of this world in record time. He could have escaped this prison with his talent, but he cared about all sentient beings. So, he dedicated his time and effort to permanently stopping the Great Eruption. Luckily for him, the Impermanence Society did not prevent indigenous life from also trying. On the contrary, they encouraged it.
The young man — who would eventually be known as Heavenly Samsara Lord — asked himself a few vital questions: how does the world repopulate after the Great Eruption? Life always returns to this world, so where did the souls and power needed to create life originate from? After years of searching, the man discovered this world had an independent samsara to recycle all the souls after the eruption.
With such a discovery, he believed he had found a way of salvation. By using all the Yin Energy in Samsara, the Heavenly Samsara Lord thought he could finally extinguish the [Inferno]. So, he spent years studying the Laws of Samsara, even trying to master the Samsara Grand Dao. Unfortunately, the rule suppression of Flame Dao made the process a million times challenging, not to mention how Samsara Dao is almost always an Outlaw Dao.
In the end, the Heavenly Samsara Lord realized time was running out, so he tried something else: he would create a false Samsara and connect it to the real one. Then, he could use the false samsara as a medium to achieve his goal. Sadly, he failed, but his False Samsara became strong enough to survive rounds after rounds of eruption, becoming a place for people to survive.
’A genius born in the wrong place,’ Wang Wei thought. The fact that Heavenly Samsara Lord could learn enough about Samsara Law to create this place under such harsh conditions showed his talent. His vision penetrated the distance and glanced at this world’s Six Paths of Samsara, and frowned: access was blocked. In other words, he couldn’t use it to refine the Inferno.
’Could it be that the rules of this trial is that no one can use the same method twice?’ Wang Wei thought. It made no sense that the Heavenly Samsara Lord could at least connect to samsara, but he was completely blocked. ’Let’s check the others to see.’
Wang Wei teleported to the Blood Ocean Forbidden Zone. Once again, he did not alarm the people who hid themselves inside. These people have been here so long that their souls have fused to the Forbidden Zones, forever preventing them from leaving.
As he reached the center, he saw a vast, beautiful, blue ocean. Wang Wei peered into the past again and saw a peerless demoness. She slaughtered half the people of this world to drain their blood. Then, she purified the blood and turned it into water to extinguish the [Inferno]. Her plan could have succeeded. Unfortunately, her body and soul were invaded by the impurities and resentment from the blood. So, at the final moment of trying to extinguish the flames, her flesh and soul collapsed.
As a Dao Ruler, she would not die as long as her Inner World was alive. Additionally, Dao Rulers can condense a [True Self Cave], which is essentially a small Inner World separated from the main one that they hide to facilitate their revival; its essence is basically another version of an Eternal Emperor’s Vault, which hides their names, history, memories, and achievements.
With her Inner World and True Self Cave intact, the Blood Demoness was not dead and could revive to continue the plan. Sadly, the Great Eruption occurred before she could do so, resulting in failure and her destruction.
’A heroine trying to save the world at any cost. But is it worth it? It probably would have been had she succeeded,’ Wang Wei thought. His focus shifted to the bottom of the ocean. ’The trial allowed past attempts to remain in the world, but none of their creators have survived. Could there be a rule that only one attempt is allowed?’
Wang Wei frowned before teleporting away. His destination was the Million Ghost Emperor Realm, a forbidden zone whose name did not do it justice. After arriving, all Wang Wei saw was a place full of Yin Qi, but as he glanced at the past, all he could say was that there were many ruthless people born in this world.
The Ghost Sovereign followed a similar path to the Blood Demoness. He conquered the world before reaping at least 60% of all the souls in this world. Then, he studied a bit of Samsara Dao to fuse them into a creature of Extreme Yin — the Ghost Emperor.
Just like his predecessor, the Ghost Sovereign’s plan almost worked. Unfortunately, he lost control of the Ghost Emperor. The creature rampaged, and while trying to regain control, the survivors who barely escaped the Ghost Sovereign’s reaping revolted and counter-attacked. He died while fighting them and the Ghost Emperor.
’An arrogant man who wanted to see the Inferno as a challenge,’ Wang Wei commented. Unlike the others who had some sense of justice — no matter how twisted — the Ghost Emperor did not escape this world only due to his pride and arrogance. That pride was also the cause of his downfall. He looked down on the heroes of the world, and without absolute strength, his plans derailed at the last minute.
’I’m starting to understand this trial’s hidden rules,’ Wang Wei thought. After someone successfully uses an idea or path, the trial will slowly restrict access until it’s completely cut off. The Heavenly Samsara Lord was the first to attempt to do so with Samsara, and there must be others. However, by the time it was the Ghost Sovereign’s turn, the Samsara Path was on the verge of being severed, and now, it was.
’The way this trial is set up is not just for the token. There is a hidden meaning or message behind everything,’ Wang Wei analyzed. ’And it seems that hidden message is the fortunate encounter I sensed.’ He had now found the right track, but was still missing the key.
’Let’s test out the dwindling path theory first,’ Wang Wei thought. With a quick divination, he headed to the forbidden zones based on the Samsara Path, tracing its evolution from the Heavenly Samsara Lord’s period to the final person allowed to use the concept/idea of Samsara.
’My theory is correct. So now, I need to verify which other paths are cut off,’ Wang Wei sighed. He had to eliminate all the ideas he had about using Samsara.
