Chapter 1674: Pure Inferno World (I)

Without any distractions, Wang Wei soon arrived at his destination. However, as he came close to the World Protection Barrier of the Pure Inferno World, he immediately noticed something was strange about it. Intrigued, he put his ship away and started studying it.

’The barrier was either artificially created from scratch or someone heavily modified it,’ Wang Wei analyzed. ’It’s quite a complex creation, and their purpose was to keep certain people from leaving the world.’ He was immediately more intrigued. As soon as Tian Xuan told him about this world, he had researched this world, and the only information he had was this was a strange Non-Source World.

However, he couldn’t find what made it strange. The Chaos Universe was too vast. Worlds die and are created every moment, and if there is nothing extremely unique or valuable about them, no one honestly cares. As such, whatever was strange about the Pure Inferno World was not enough for people to pay attention.

Wang Wei felt his wife might be interested in studying this World Protection Barrier, so after remembering the structure, he did not waste time and descended. The first thing that hit him was the heat. Endless Fire Spiritual Energy spread to every corner of the world, composing 99.9% of this world’s energy. As such, the sky and most of the ground and grass had a red hue.

’Almost all the gates connecting to the Source Qi Space have been modified to release Fire Spiritual Energy,’ Wang Wei observed. ’What’s more, the Fire Heavenly Laws dominate above all the others laws. No, even access to the Grand Dao Source has been modified to make it a hundred times harder to cultivate any Dao that was not Flame.’

All these signs of modification gave Wang Wei a bad feeling. So, he checked for other signs of artificial modifications and he realized even Heavenly Dao has been modified. ’It’s balance mechanism has been completely altered, favoring only Flame Dao individuals. Even tribulations are a hundred times harder for any other Daos.’

A wry smile flashed in Wang Wei’s face. He did not think this was all a coincidence. ’I was thinking why Tian Xuan so easily gave me that information, or why no one has ever taken the token away.’ He still needed to verify, so after shaking his head, he used divination to find the token’s location. A part of him hoped there was resistance, but no: he immediately knew the location of the token. With one step, Wang Wei arrived at one of the many Forbidden Zones of this world.

Numerous Flame Giants battled each other, with two of the largest being the center of attention. Wang Wei glanced at them: one giant had blue stripes along its body, while the other had a white armor. ’They used their Inner World as the heart or core and the endless fire energy to fuel the elemental body? It’s quite an interesting Insurgent Technique.’ While most of the other giants were only Dao Rulers, the aura of the two were on par with Paragons.

"Brother Bai, why do you have to do this?" The Armored Flame Giant said. But his opponent did not utter a single word and continued attacking.

"I just want to end our suffering. I just want it to...stop."

"I know."

"Then, why are you stopping me?"

"Because I don’t think you can succeed. Your actions — just like all the others — will only bring us an early suffering."

The flame on the giant started flaring it and his expression became grave for a few seconds before he controlled himself. "Even if I fail, isn’t it better for our suffering to end early than to wait for the [Great Eruption]?"

"I joined the order because I despised people with a mindset like yours. Why do you get to decide the fate of trillions of people? The fate of our entire world? How big is your ego?"

"You!"

"I’m tired of this conversation. Now, die!" Brother Bai yelled before increasing his attack rhythm. Most of his entire body turned blue before releasing a barrage of punches, kicks, and flame attacks. In the end, his opponent’s core — which is their Inner World — received a deadly blow, forcing them to run away.

Wang Wei watched their battle before glancing at the mist behind these people. The fog was not natural, but a formation created by the Life Conservation Order that the man named Bai belonged to. Wang Wei passed through the formation and he was surprised. Without having a soul compared to a Peak Regular Paragon, it was impossible to navigate through. ’No, even Paragons might not be able to if they do not have a decent mastery of the soul,’ he thought.

A gate appeared before him at the end of the mist, and he easily entered. Why was this world called Pure Inferno? Wang Wei finally had an answer. A towering black tower floated above this dimension of endless flames. A formation separated him and the flame below, but after a quick scan with his divine sense, he realized the flame’s power had the strength to kill or severely injure this clone if it fully erupted.

Wang Wei flew to the tower and entered without much effort. He saw a vision of endless books, knowledge, and secrets with so much allure that the lesser mind would be driven mad with desires. However, he remained calm and waited. Once the vision finished, a deep and power voice echoed in the hall:

"Everything is impermanent, except for the pursuit of knowledge. Do you want our knowledge? Do you want access to the deepest secrets of the Chaos Universe? Prove your wisdom and ingenuity by saving this world. Remove the Inferno and you will be one of us."

Wang Wei sighed. He had his suspicions, but now, they were finally confirmed. The Impermanence Society modified this world as a test to recruit their members. ’Feels a bit elitist, but alright,’ he complained before leaving the tower. He surveyed the inferno to gather as much information as possible.

’The Order-Disorder of this place has been strongly modified. If I tried to use brute force to solve the issue, everything would collapse and I’m assuming that’s failure,’ Wang Wei thought. Since he couldn’t do this the easy way, he had to stretch his leg. Wang Wei raised his fingers to calculate the past and present of this world, wanting to have as much information as possible. However, his intuition told him to do it slowly and walk around the world.

’Hmm? Something good is about to happen? Alright.’ He left the trial place and flew to a random location. He soon arrived at an enormous mountain with a sect called Ice Mountain. By listening to rumors and murmurs on his way here, Wang Wei knew this was one of the biggest factions in the world, with their strength being in the top 5, maybe top 3.

’They should have a decent history of the world?’ Wang Wei thought as he scanned the place, trying to find their library. Then, he stopped as his divine sense passed an elder teaching two groups of young disciples. One of them on the right had asked what was the Great Eruption, and the elder suddenly paused before slowly answering.

"Every 1.269 million Yuan Epoch, the Inferno will erupt and wipe out all life on the planet," the elder said truthfully, immediately scaring the children.

"Elder Yue, are you saying my family will die?"

"Your family is mortal, and they’ll probably die long before that time arrives."

"Then, I’ll die?"

"Not if you become a Neutralizer."

"What’s that?" Hope flashed in these young kid’s eyes.

"Do you remember my lesson on Dao Seed?"

"Yes. It’s the key to become an Immortal and live for eternity."

Elder Yue nodded. ’All Dao Seeds are based on Flame Dao, but our World Barrier will not allow anyone with an extreme aura of flame to pass through. So, you must find a way to neutralize that aura so you can enter Primordial Chaos and attain freedom.’ A look of longing appeared in the old man’s eyes.

"Elder, what about Immortal Qi Cultivators? Can they leave?" A disciple sitting on the left side asked. The other group looked at them with some hidden disdain.

"Yes, you can. But unlike Dao Ancestors, you cannot use the Inner World to take other people away with you," Elder Yue explained.

"Elder, does our Ice Mountain Sect have a Neutralizer?"

Elder Yue paused again. "Not yet, but it should be soon." He smiled confidently to these children, but Wang Wei could see the worry and stress.

"So, we are saved?"

"No, you’re not," Elder Yue poured cold water on their heads. "The process of passing through the World Barrier will bring catastrophic destruction to the Inner World. So, the sect will only select capable individuals who can help during the process." Of course, Elder Yue did not tell these children that was only because they had no connection to receive a family spot.

"Capable individuals? That means I can be chosen if I had a good enough cultivation?"

"Exactly. So, work hard to meet the requirements."
