Chapter 185: Humans and Animals Battle Royale

Wen Changming: “Then let’s go after lunch.”

A moment later, Wen Changming received another video call.

This one was to call them for lunch.

After hanging up, the group headed back.

After a simple lunch, the five of them—the Shi Zhile sisters, Wen Bai, Sun Ci, and Tang Yan—officially set out for the Primitive Forest.

They stayed until nightfall, returning to the island laden with spoils.

On the seventh day, all eleven players who had entered the Cursed Island instance were ejected.

Back on the island, Shi Zhile entered the instance one more time to confirm she could come and go freely before she felt relieved.

After a single instance, the over 2,700 players from Huaxia Base had been reduced to just 1,500.

When a player died, their island disappeared. Huaxia Base’s total area instantly shrank by twenty percent.

Standing on the third floor and looking out at Huaxia Base, the reduction in size was even more apparent this time.

A short while later, Jiang Jing and the others arrived at Stone Island.

They gathered to discuss all the matters related to moving the base’s foundation into the secret base.

The final decision was to leave a small group of players behind to guard the base and continue taking in any arriving players before the next instance appeared.

The majority of players would move into the secret base to speed up the construction of a new facility, which would be used to store the equipment transported from the main base.

Since only Shi Zhile could open the Teleportation Gate, she became the most crucial part of the plan.

Once they had settled on a detailed operational plan, Shi Zhile began teleporting things through the gate.

Another month passed in a flash. Before the next instance opened, everyone in the base had moved into the secret base, just as everyone had predicted.

As long as players weren’t “in the game,” the newly opened instance couldn’t pull them in.

Month after month went by. It was impossible to know exactly how much time had passed, but in any case, the secret base was finally completed.

During that time, the population of the secret base grew to over 6,900 people. When an instance opened, everyone stayed behind to expand the housing. After an instance ended, they would venture out to be self-sufficient, providing most of their gathered resources to the secret base.

Following the previous land reclamation plan, the secret base’s island doubled in size. As the island grew, the energy of the “predecessors” increased daily, and the surrounding sea area expanded outward by another thousand meters.

Everything was developing in a positive direction. The only regret was that Huaxia Base still hadn’t made contact with Jiuzhou Base.

Although she had added Base Chief Ye and Ms. He as friends, the distance between their regions was too great, and they could never receive each other’s messages.

After the end-of-month instance concluded, the players from the secret base once again dispersed to venture outside.

「Mid-month.」

The long-silent system prompt sounded again.

This time, it wasn’t a notification about a new instance, but a server merge.

[Survival Tip: The Little Ice Age has caused a massive number of player deaths. The system will now conduct another server merge~]

[This merge will be the largest change to the game to date. Each region will have no fewer than 5,000,000 players. Additionally, a Human vs. Animal Battle Royale mode will commence immediately after the merge.]

[Human vs. Animal Battle Royale Mode: Every person is both a hunter and the hunted. To increase the challenge, if a player kills another player, they will receive all of that player’s supplies~]

[After the hunt ends, player points acquired during the hunt will be tallied. The higher your point ranking, the richer the rewards.]

[Now, let the server merge countdown begin~]

Shi Zhile’s pupils constricted.

‘Immediately?’

‘The players who went out haven’t even returned to Huaxia Base yet. There’s no time to get everyone through the Teleportation Gate.’

[Server Merge Countdown: 10, 9, 8…]

Shi Zhile looked at Shi Zhiyi and the others beside her. “I’ll send you to an instance.”

Since it involved animals and she had her Breeding Space, she wanted to take her chances.

Shi Zhiyi took a deep breath and shook her head, her expression serious. “Lele, we’ve had it easy for too long. We can’t keep hiding.”

‘Hiding just makes you more and more afraid. Lately, I’ve grown increasingly terrified of the instances starting.’

Jiang Jing said, “A Human vs. Animal Battle Royale is nothing more than people killing people, people killing animals, and animals killing people. It’s a mode of brute force. This is a great opportunity for us to expand our Breeding Spaces.”

[…3, 2, 1.]

[Server Merge successful! Human vs. Animal Battle Royale mode commencing. Countdown: 3, 2, 1!]

…

CUCKOO~

CAW~ CAW~

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, dappling the ground below, which was covered in weeds and dry twigs.

A scream echoed from the woods, startling the birds into taking flight.

The air was damp. Before her stretched a boundless forest with no visible exit or end.

Shi Zhile crouched down to collect the dry twigs, then took out her axe and started walking in the opposite direction of the scream.

There was a momentary stir in her Breeding Space. Shi Zhile sent a sliver of her consciousness inside and found the little Green Snake, which usually did nothing but eat and sleep, flicking its tongue and spinning around restlessly.

She took the Green Snake out, wrapped it around her wrist, and opened her panel to check the chat messages.

[Sun Ci: [Image], [Image]. Anyone nearby? I found a huge wild boar. [Location].]

[The Domineering CEO Fell In Love With The Divorced, Menopausal Me With a Child (Tang Yan): Help! @Sun Ci, @Contentment Brings Happiness, @Jiang Jing, @Wen Bai, @Shi Zhiyi. [Location]. I’ve fallen into a goat’s nest! They keep ramming me with their horns! Someone, anyone, come save me!]

Shi Zhile clicked on both of their location pings and found that she was less than a thousand meters from Tang Yan. However, he was getting farther away, moving at high speed.

Shi Zhile started a video call directly. “How many goats are there? I’m behind you.”

Tang Yan’s face was a mask of agony. He sucked in a sharp breath. “Probably fifty or sixty of them! I can’t turn back! I’m hiding in a tree! You have to figure out a way to save me!”

“Oh, and these goats are perverts! They only aim for your butt!”

Shi Zhile: “…”

Suddenly, she didn’t feel like going anymore.

Hanging up the call, she headed toward Tang Yan’s position. The closer she got, the clearer the sound of bleating became.

When she saw the “goats” Tang Yan had mentioned, Shi Zhile felt an overwhelming urge to turn around and leave.

These weren’t just any goats; they were built like mountain boars! Not only were they huge, they were so round they could barely run.

She hid behind a large tree. Just as she was about to laugh at Tang Yan, she saw the lead goat rear up and viciously ram the tree with its horns.

The great tree shuddered, and up in its branches, Tang Yan trembled along with it.

Then the other goats lined up and took turns ramming the tree.

Shi Zhile: “…”

After the third impact, a faint cracking sound could be heard. Tang Yan, on the verge of tears, shouted, “Shi Zhile, are you here or not?!”

Shi Zhile took a deep breath, quickly moved behind another tree, then crouched down, grabbed a goat by the leg, and stuffed it into her space.

[Breeding Space +10m2.]

[Points +10.]

Shi Zhile’s eyes lit up. She hadn’t expected the goats to be so useful—they not only increased her space but also gave her points.

She stepped right out from behind the tree and ran like a madwoman toward the flock of goats.

She collected them as she ran, leaving not even a tuft of wool behind wherever she went.

The lead goat let out a “BAA” and was the first to turn and run.

Shi Zhile gritted her teeth and flung her axe, instantly taking care of the leader.

Without their commander, the remaining goats were quickly deposited into her Breeding Space.
