Chapter 1257 - 1257: Unwanted discoveries
[OP: ]
The ruffling of the leaves was heard as the winds calmly blew. The duo was lost in their conversation while the snake was unsure as to what strange thing it was feeling right now.
There was a sweet scent in the air as well, a scent that should not have been here.
But it was sweet and blended in well with the atmosphere.
Neither of them seemed to be aware of the unique scent though, but the sensitive tongue of the snake was picking it up well.
Sansan thought it must be something new, perhaps a creature had brought some kind of foreign fruit along with them from their hunt around the academy.
Perhaps the fruit belonged to a student originally, but they lost it and now it was somewhere around this part of the garden.
The snake did not know what it was and it could not be certain either so it did not tell Zod. The two of them were chatting so happily right now, he did not want to disturb them with something too obscure.
“Ptsss…”
But just then, the scent somehow intensified and the snake started feeling drowsy.
It was as if the creature had just had a great feast. It possessed the pinnacle of Gluttony so it could consume everything in the form of energy, and yet despite not having had their dinner yet, the creature was already feeling sleepy.
It was strange how it was feeling like this. Sansan questioned the strange sudden sleepiness at first but then accepted it and fell asleep in Zod’s arms.
“Hmm? Were you tired, little one?” Zod found the sleeping creature cute and placed him carefully in his pocket. Then he looked back at Del and was just about to continue his chat when he had a yawn.
“Haaaa…”
“Hwaaaa…”
Seeing him, Del yawned as well, confirming that yawning is socially contagious.
“Are you sleepy already? Should we… go…”
“Wait… a minute…”
The strange sleepiness was too sudden. Cradle saw Zodac, who was happily chatting with her just now, one she had looked after while he was taking a nap in the afternoon just earlier, closing his eyes with great drowsiness.
It was as if he was getting unconscious, which wasn’t natural at all.
But she was in the same boat as him since her eyes were shutting down on their own as well.
Around fifteen seconds, that’s how long it took for them to completely lose their ‘awakeness’ and go into a deep slumber.
The thing that their senses weren’t picking up consciously, the sweet scent that the little snake had perceived through his tongue, was in fact something Eon had concocted personally.
“Damn, that didn’t even take a minute.”
“What even is that? If not for these masks, I think even we would have fallen asleep by now.”
“This thing is very potent. Now I understand why he asked us to be extra, extra careful with this.”
“We would have been in the same shoes as them if we were even a little careless.”
Hide, Mia, Lexi, and Bjorn, the four of them were in charge of the kidnapping this time.
“I really want to know how he made this. Good thing we didn’t need all of this. Since this much is left, I’ll get to experiment on this~.” Mia was the one handling the pink evaporating fluid this time.
Eon may have created this thing but she was the one handing it instead of the three vice house captains that were accompanying her.
The three of them were here for the other things but the four of them were tasked with bringing in the guests of honour in the dark of the night.
Lexi and Hide were using a unique water attribute spell that Lucifer taught them over the last few days, one that hid their presence completely.
Since the two possessed a great water affinity, they were the best to use this spell which he originally created for Rein.
Mia was handling the whole concoction that evaporated as soon as they opened the lid of the special container it was stored in, and while they all were wearing protective masks, the scent had made every single creature in the surrounding area fall asleep.
It included the birds that were flying above them, the smaller animals that were roaming the garden, even the insects that would not be affected by any kind of gases in the atmosphere.
This was a very potent chemical, so Mia certainly understood why he chose her to be the one in charge of it.
She was an alchemy master, and having known Lucifer for long enough by now, she knew just how serious he was when he was doing something for everyone around him.
“Let’s go now. Seems like we can take them back.” They were planning to put them in dark sacks at first, but then Rein rejected the idea.
If they were going to put them to sleep anyway, what was the point of putting them inside a sack? They weren’t going to wake up anytime soon anyway.
“Sir Bjorn, you can take them. Do just as Prince Alph taught you.” Mia was in command as she instructed the giant orc to do as his house captain had instructed.
They thought it would be risky to bring him along since they knew how powerful he was. They did not want him to mistakenly snap their guests of honor’s necks.
“Me careful. You guys, careful as well.” Bjorn the orc lifted the two bodies of their previous presidents and carefully placed them on his shoulders.
Their hands fell on his back as the orc turned towards the academy building.
“He’s being careful, ok.” Lexi was worried he would make a mistake but the orc was strangely careful with the two sleeping bodies.
She could tell it was because they specifically reminded him to do as his house captain had asked him, but the influence was amazing.
“Our captain is strict, but I don’t even want to know what kind of training Prince Alpheus is giving to his house.” Hide was having shivers running down his spine just by thinking of the process they must be going through.
“Hey… but isn’t this kinda wrong? They were our presidents and now we are transporting them like some sacks of grain.” Hide now suddenly had a moral dilemma.
-Slap!
“You don’t have to be sceptical about this. It’s our work, after all. We are helping the others out with this.” But Lexi just slapped his back and reminded him there was nothing he needed to be worried about.
All the things they had done to help others out already was outside the range of ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ when seen from a broader perspective.
They knew the presidents would not like many of the things they had done, but what was the point of brooding over something that was already done.
“Just keep walking, you two.”
The three walked behind the orc and made their way towards the central area of the academy castle.
They weren’t going towards the celebration section beside the shrine of Origin. They brought the two in the innermost section of the academy and put them both in different rooms.
In these rooms, certain Academy helpers changed the two into good looking clothes. It was a good thing that both of them were wearing the Mana clothing that Lucifer gifted them, so the process was much easier.
They also helped Sansan get into a cute looking cloth made just for him. They did not wake up throughout the process and were still deep in their slumber.
What was happening with them right now was a complete mystery to them, but they were going to be surprised very soon.
“Hmm. Seems like it’s done now. They should wake up soon as well. We should go now.” The four of them made their way towards the celebration area. A note was left beside the duo and they were later put together in the same room in different places.
When they woke up, they were going to find their letter and then they would come to the place where they would receive their surprise send off.
The preparations were complete. They were ready for everything, the guests were here as well.
The timer in the party hall prepared by the house captains and their new presidents was already shining and glowing, ticking down to indicate the arrival of their main guests.
Everyone was here right now– the teachers, the headmaster, the students from the same batch as their presidents. There were as many people as they could have with them right now.
Lucifer, Luna, Hide, the princes and princesses, everyone with connections and resources pulled every string they could to make this possible.
They wanted to give their presidents a good surprise, and hopefully, this would prove to be a good memory for them as well.
“Why did you put them to sleep though? You had other options as well, no?” The headmaster was still unsure why Lucifer chose this path when there were so many other ways to bring the two of them here without making them realise this.
But Eon just shook his head like it was nothing big.
“I just thought having a nap before this crowded party would help them a little. That’s why I used that potent potion. It will also help them get ready for the things we have prepared for them.”
He was wearing pretty clothes just like the rest of the people present.
The venue was great and the party was ready… and on the other side of the academy, the guests that were going to be the spotlight today, were also waking up from one of the best short naps they have had in their entire li
