Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer

Chapter 1240 - 1240: The approching trip

[Eon’s POV: ]

“Haaaa… it finally ends now.”

“I still don’t understand why the teacher would do something like that. Shouldn’t they have more control over themselves?”

“I think there was something about that teacher from the start. I never really liked him.”

“But still, there was something different about him today. He is usually rude, but I don’t think he has ever lost his temper like that.”

The arena that was filled with the battles happening all around them with the teachers guiding the students through the duels, had now turned into a buffet hall.

Food already prepared by the best of the academy’s cooking teachers, people who had far more experience than me and were much better in comparison had made each and every one of these things for the students and the teachers.

Miss Cleo had also worked hard for many of these dishes, so we were now enjoying these delicacies along with our teachers, chatting freely now that the competition was over and we had come out victorious.

“Everyone’s talking about that teacher.”

“I mean, there certainly was something wrong about him. You know what? I had a very strange feeling by the time I was asking my second question.”

Tia and the rest of us captains were eating with the teachers right now. The headmaster and the vice headmaster were here as well, while many of the teachers were guiding the students on their performance and what they could have done better, we were chatting about something else.

“You should stop overthinking about it, dear. Here, come have some of my soup~.” The atmosphere around here was good so neither Rein nor me wanted to bring up the matters regarding the teacher that Tia had gone against.

That person, while we weren’t sure yet, was somehow connected to the demonic cultists.

‘It was simply a suspicion until now, but now that we have apprehended him, the headmaster will squeeze out everything he needed from him.’

Apparently, the teacher wasn’t as ill mannered as the students perceived him. He was old so he had gotten a little cranky, that was all.

The students did not hate him because he was good at what he could do, but something about him had changed ever since the academy reopened.

The headmaster was away so he did not know what exactly had changed about him, but he knew for sure it was connected to the demonic cultists.

Even if there was no direct connection, he suspected there were some elements in play there… but the students did not have to know about all those things.

“Everyone did great. I did not know Lizzy was so strong either. Wow…” Tia did well on her part, Luna did as well, and there was no need to worry about Hide either.

When he needed to, he knew how to perform well. He did well in all ways expected of him, and with his new experience in the desert, he was no longer the careless guy that he used to be.

‘He even stopped hanging out with more than three ladies.’

That was pretty huge achievements in our eyes, if anything. And we had praised him for that already.

“You two. You know you’re going to be in trouble from now on, right?” The vice headmaster certainly liked the cooking that Miss Cleo and the other staff had worked so hard on, but she still asked for a meal from me.

“And whose fault do you think that is? You forced us to do that, ok?!” Rein was angry at the vice headmaster, but the old elf simply giggled while glancing at her.

She had asked me to make her something special, something she had not had for a long time– her mother’s cooking.

And I tried my best to make it as closely as she had described it.

‘She knew it was not the same, but the warmth that she felt from the meal was something completely different from all the food that she had over the last few decades.’

She said she needed to visit her mom sometime soon, and she wanted the two of us to come with her when she does.

“You know you didn’t have to show off like that, right? Who told you to show off like that in the first place?” The headmaster seemed a little relaxed now that the event was over.

He hasn’t been feeling well lately. With all the tension, with all the work, and with all the things that he needed to look after, he was getting anxious.

He was doing his best, but at the end of the day, he was not all powerful. This rest day, this entire event was a breath of fresh air that he needed.

“The vice headmaster! She did it! You know what would have happened if we didn’t show off like that. I never even wanted to do that! Why would I show off my mediocre scythe skills in front of that crowd!”

Rein was shouting at the headmaster, something we should not be doing.

But our fellow classmates had gotten used to things like these by now. Since we were the student council presidents now, they knew we have had a unique relationship with the headmaster for longer than they knew.

The way we talked, the way we interacted with each other, and the special relationship we had wasn’t simple.

But we did not have to define it to the others. Being how we are with him even with the other present seemed much more comfortable to us than when we had to hide behind a mask.

“Uriel, if your scythe skills are mediocre, I don’t even know how to hold a sword.” Captain Alpha was not happy, but then again, he did not know who she was comparing herself against right now.

“Captain you should Look around us, or better just like at the vice headmaster here. She knows how to hold a sword and a scythe much better than any of us.

Going against her with skills as lacking as us is the same as showing a mediocre side of a weapon art that she had honed to such a degree.”

Rein wasn’t trying to show off by saying all that. She really meant all those things.

Even I don’t consider myself good enough yet. After seeing the pinnacle of bowmanship, after studying under the Heavenly archer as well as this vice headmaster of ours, I knew there was a completely different world of weapon arts out there.

We may be good and better than the others around us, but compared to these people, we were still just a beginner.

“You two are simply being humble. That’s not good every single time, ok? You did well, and I’m happy.”

She certainly seemed happy, that much was true.

“I didn’t expect you’d so much. Even though it’s far from everything, you surely exposed enough of yourself, hahaha~.”

She was pulling our leg once again. There was absolutely no need to mention we didn’t show everything we had before everyone else, but she still did it to shock the rest of our classmates.

Tia was speechless at how this was not everything. What we showed was already absurd but, if there was something above that, then they didn’t even know the depths for us anymore.

‘It’s fine though.’

As we progress through the academy, we plan to reveal everything we are capable of to them one by one.

If there is any emergency, we will also have to step up and do our best to protect the academy as well as the island.

‘And seeing how the cult is moving so quickly now, the chaos is undoubtedly approaching.’

We will be against something nasty soon, so for that, we need to prepare not just ourselves, but all the people currently sitting around us right now.

“Now that this is over, do you all know what reward you’re going to get?” The headmaster asked an important question as soon as she was done eating my dishes.

She was curious about what we thought we would get as a reward, and there surely were quite a lot of things that we thought could be possible.

“Are we gonna have Point rewards? Can we have new artifacts and weapons~?”

“Is it possible to gain access to the library’s restricted sections?”

“Can we please get some longer break time during lunch~?”

The possibilities were many, but the vice headmaster simply smiled mysteriously at all of us.

“Well~.” She smirked, a not-good expression now covering her face.

“You’re going on a field trip soon. How’s that for a reward~?”

It was unexpected. Pretty unexpected, actually.

To take us somewhere out of the blue… the others did not see this coming.

“You’re going to like it, actually~.”

But, this was much better than temporary pleasures like holidays and weapons.

This, actually, seemed more fun to us than many other options that we had.

“Oh! A trip~!”

“Where are we going, headmaster~?”

“Is it somewhere special~? Are we going on the sky ships~?”

“Wow! That sounds much better, hehe~.”

They were excited, I was excited, even Rein was excited about this. It would be the first time all the students go somewhere. And knowing the academy, the place we are going to wasn’t going to be anything simple.

“It’s a secret for now, but you should look forward to it. That much I’ll say for now.”

If she was saying it, then the chances were high that she already knew where we were going. And if she had a place in mind, I think it’s not going to be all fun and enjoyment.

During a trip, this could also be something more. And we knew we would have to watch out for it ourselves.

‘This is not going to be easy, I guess.’

As the president of the student council, we will be responsible for the students as well as this entire trip, so this is also going to be our first challenge as the council heads, something that I have to be careful about.

‘with the cult’s movements, I don’t think this is going to be anything easy.’

Certainly not something uneventful either, actually.
