Chapter 1239 - 1239: Rules of shopping
[OP: ]
Ron lost with exhaustion while Rein was knocked out by a powerful blow that ultimately disqualified the vice headmaster.
The two matches that the vice headmaster fought against her were a phenomenal spectacle.
Teachers were speechless. Students were speechless. Even the judges did not have any solid idea as to how they should grade them.
But they did their best.
They discussed the performance from both sides according to the predetermined rules of the headmaster as well as her challengers.
They discussed and after a while, they ended up giving three points to the teacher’s side as well as four points, without the extra promise points from the headmaster, to the students.
Ultimately, the competition peaked at that point with the scores becoming 5:6. Now, everything depended on the last few remaining matches.
“I have to win. I must win. This is my chance to shine!!” Tia got to the stage and gazed at her opponent, Lord Orcus, a proficient Arcane sorcerer with his special Arcanum Raven.
He was a master, as well as one of the scariest professors of the academy with one of the worst reputations.
Not only was he a mean and rude teacher to his students, even the way he taught his students was way different from the other teachers.
“You better give up already, young fairy.” His tone, disrespectful as usual, was looking down on a student that was trying to do her best right now.
He had been standing in this very arena for a while now. He had already sent five students with severe injuries. Some of them even needed attention from priests to heal their wounds. * (*) hosts the original.
His actions were not praised by his fellow teachers, but the nature of the competition as well as the rules set by the students gave wings to teachers like him who had been restricted by rules all this time.
“I will go when I defeat you, teacher!!” The students were not looking forward to this battle.
They did not want to see the same fate for their house captain that they had seen for the other students until now.
However, there was still fire within her eyes. She needed to win this battle, she needed to succeed.
She didn’t care about the teachings of a teacher like him. All she wanted was to somehow secure a victory and a few points for her performance.
‘The strategy that Lucifer suggested has been very complicated since the beginning, but now I see why he made us do all that.’
Tia wasn’t the only one that had realised Lucifer’s cunning plan.
By meticulously pairing a few of the students with a few of the teachers, even with the initial disparity between the scores, the final scores were somehow coming together very close.
They had a chance, even with the unexpected brutalness of their teachers’ teaching methods.
The unexpected victories and the subtle help from their house captain Zoe was proving out to be a real help as well.
And, even teachers had seen through this strange yet impressive strategy, wanting to praise the one who had devised it.
“You know the results already, hahaha. Why hurt yourself willingly when you could just give in, Fairy captain~?”
He was ridiculing her right now. An action that infuriated Tia even more.
“You…!”
But, even though she wanted to explode right now, she did her best to remain calm, and somehow managed to tell him about her rules.
“That’s all? Haa. What more could I even expect from you children.”
Her brows were twitching, just like the smile on her face.
She did not want to punch that face— she wanted to straight up demolish that smugness of his.
She had never attended his classes until now, but now that she was standing against him, she could easily piece together what her housemates and classmates meant when they said all that.
He may be a good teacher but he was a scum of a human being.
“Let us begin then.” She needed to take him down. She needed to win this. The conditions that she put, while against what she was best at, were simply a test of a subject of her choice.
She was going to suggest one subject and they would present their knowledge about the subject– an idea that was also a part of Eon’s plans.
“Sure~. What topic are you going to suggest then, Miss~?” The teacher was still smug.
Every student knew the teachers of the academy needed to be well versed in many subjects even beyond their professions.
The kind of knowledge that they possessed along with their own ways to implement their professional knowledge within these external subjects tested their grasp on their own profession as a Teacher.
“Well…” Tia did not like that she was neither fighting him nor competing against him in any physical battle, however, she did have a smile on her face right now.
“We are going to test our knowledge about the Romance novels.”
Being the house captain of the Fusion Stardust, Tia was naturally great at what the Fairies do. She was strong, her stardust possessed the powers to enhance her own powers, while she also had a good grasp on her weapons, her hands.
She was not one of the strongest among the students just because of these aspects though. She was naturally good at a lot more things, things that made her respected among her peers.
However, above all, as the people close to her knew, she was a huge fan of novels.
“Oh? Now that’s unexpected.”
She had read more novels with a romantic plot than the textbooks. Not just in her first year, she had been reading these things for a few years now.
She knew a lot about these things. When it came to theoretical understanding of Love, romance, affection, and relationships, as well as human connection and social taboos, her knowledge was on par with the professionals who studied these things.
“Very well though. Let us do that.”
The teacher that she was facing did not understand why she would suggest a theme as common as this. Novels weren’t something new to him, his experience with those things would obviously be far greater than hers.
“Sure. Then, the first question from me…” Tia also did not know whether it would work or not.
She knew she was good at fighting, throwing tantrums, playing around and doing silly things. But this was not fun and games… if they don’t win, the entire student body will be punished and she would partially be responsible for that.
That was why she needed to do well here right now.
“Do you think the Area of Literature has seen significant changes over the years? If yes, then why and how do you think these changes might have affected societies and prompted the rise of the comforting, utopian romance stories?”
Eon might have planned the match but even though she requested him to tell her the questions she was supposed to ask, he declined saying she was far better at this than he was.
This was her battle, this was her debate, and she needed to rise above this jerk with all that she had…
“Hahaha! What a simple question~!”
The teacher thought that it was an extremely simple question so he answered it with an elaborated answer where he put examples from some famous novels that most people might have read.
Some of them were included within the basic academic courses as well so they weren’t anything new to him.
Still, Tia shook his head at his answer.
“That’s not it, teacher.” She seemed disappointed right now. It wasn’t just his answer, the way he said it and the way he spoke both disappointed her.
“The world of literature, much less the world of romantic literature, isn’t as plane as your life, teacher.” Tia walked closer to him and showed him some papers where she had written down a few pointers beforehand.
“As you can see, the Literature has evolved significantly over the years.” She was passionate about novels, so much so that she had researched about literature in her free time and made many notes like the one she was presenting right now.
She had not done something like this even when she was studying for her final exams. When it came to things like these, she simply had more motivation than even fighting against someone as good as Eon or Elle.
“…?”
The teacher was understanding everything, and so were the judges who closely listened to her words and explanations from their seats.
“What?”
By the time she was done with her very first question, the teacher was utterly humiliated for his own lifeless answer that did not contain proper facts.
“What the hell is all this?”
He was angry right now, but that was just the first of her questions.
Tia continued with her questions, showing off the knowledge and base that she had built up over the years.
She was there to learn from him, so the teacher argues with all his might. He tried connecting Arcanum and its evolution within the society to the literature but, he could not do it as well as he should have been.
In fact, he could not even control his temper while Tia was calmly doing her best to score points from the judges.
This teacher, her opponent… she did not give him any moment to fight back.
“This is absurd!” Ultimately, the teacher ended up exploding and started shouting at her unprofessionally.
Tia even tried to calm him down and remind him where he was, but all of it was in vain. Ultimately, the teacher could not take it anymore and the harmless competition turned into something… chaotic.
“You little fly!”
The teacher moved to get his hands on Tia, but she did not fight against him. She simply flew around the arena and tried to avoid him as best as she could until the judges restrained the teacher.
“Damn…”
Not only was that the point where the tides were turned in the favor of the students permanently, that was also a shameful moment for the entire teacher’s side, which ultimately resulted in an early conclusion of the event.
“We did it, everyone~!”
The students were the victors.
And, after going through all that, after enduring so much, they had earned the right to be rewarded generously… something the vice headmaster knew very well.
