Chapter 1234 - 1234: Missing Friends
[OP: ]
The first round of the matches started with many of them going through a tough time. While the students were one sidedly pushed back in the first rounds, the baatches following that weren’t caught off guard.
They put a good fight against them. They utilized the newer arena that were opened to them and challenged teachers themselves.
It did not make too big a difference, the teachers were still overwhelming for them to take on by themselves, but the strategy employed worked in many cases.
The initial random summonings that were in the hands of the teachers eliminated many of the participants that did not get to participate after that.
As devised by the house captains and the council head, they fought against the teachers with their terms, playing tricks to earn points from them.
But then again, earning these points was a tricky part as well.
When the teachers were fighting the students at first, they fought with great passion. They taught them valuable lesions through means they had never used in the classrooms.
The teachings were extremely effective. When they fought, they brought enlightenments to the students who used weapons, and newfound perspectives to the magic students.
Those who did not do practical combat also got to learn a few tricks of both magic and weapon practice.
There were times when the students declined to go to the teachers and when that happened, the teachers were disqualified by the judges.
The judges who were very keen with their observation and very stingy with the distribution of points weren’t easily surprised. Since the teachers were looking after the students even with their harsh moves, they couldn’t use tricks that would expose their powers to the students.
In many cases, if the teachers fought seriously, they would end up hurting the children without a doubt, and some might even end up dead like how it happened in the forgotten past.
The teachers were very careful how they were handling the students. The vice headmaster was giving points in the support of the students while the headmaster evaluated everything fairly.
Since Zoe could give points as well, the students had expected her to show favor to them, but she was as critical as Sir Codocodomi, the representative of the tower’s residents.
She gave points to the teachers since they were the only ones doing well in these guidance duels.
She knew how difficult it was for them to judge so many students and guide them all in different manners.
She knew how well they were managing their strength and despite the students’ poor results, they did not get angry at them and simply guided them.
These were guidance duels for a reason, and as a judge with responsibilities, without showing bias, she did her work well, presenting a better image of the student body.
“Hello, mister mage.” The first few rounds were miserable, so when the house captains finally took the stage, a ray of hope was born in the student body.
They looked forward to the matches of their Magic Theory instructor and Alf, they looked forward to the match between Captain Alpha and the Tiger-teacher of class L.
Tia and Luna ended up before the class teacher of Eon’s class. But that was not the worst…
“You’re the rising star of the Wisdom Phoenix, I see.”
One of the famous teachers that taught Weapon practicals, a dangerous looking Orc Hero, the holder of a holy sword, someone that had taught them in the past, looked at Ball with curious eyes.
He knew this child did not have any great powers in terms of Practical skills yet. He had great potential, but he was still a dimond in rough.
To shape his talent, one needed a very experienced or talented guide, and from the looks of it, the one that was looking after him in his house, the vice captain as well as the current President of the council, was doing an amazing job.
The teacher already knew about the cultivation mathods of the President. If he wasn’t enough, the top student and judge that was making even the other judges scared, their house captain, was an even bigger influence of their house than any of the house captains.
The other teachers were already praising them, but he wanted to see it for himself how much they had done for their house.
And so began matches that were going to become the first changing winds of the entire situation…
-Oooooooooooong!
Alf used (tier-4) magic spells from the start after he established his rules. The one that managed to hit the other with their spell would win.
The opponent he was facing was an master of theory magic, but he had achieved that level only after mastering the practical knowledge.
He was one of the most difficult opponents to go against, but if the conditions were in his favor, Alfred knew he could win the battle… so, he used his unique spell construction method.
He stacked layers upon layers of basic but powerful spells together and attacked the teacher without giving him any chance to break free from his continuous attacks.
The methods that he used, the spell compositions that he was using, the unique spells containing the essence of pure magic, the sheer force of his spells as well as his large reserve of Mana made the entire battle seem so scary that many of the students started looking Alf in a new light altogether.
Some even questioned whether they were in the same league as him. It was not easy to go against someone like their high magic theory teacher.
The person was a master when it came to magic calculations, but Alf managed to overwhelm someone like that, and ultimately ended up winning with a landslide.
The speed at which he received points from judges was the fastest till now, making him one of the highlights of the event.
“To be honest, I first thought you’re simply bringing down the name of the True Dragons.” He was a tiger, but at the same time, a formidable fighter.
Captain Alpha was paired against an absolute beast of an opponent. Every single blow that they shared were like blows exchanged between a killer and its target.
The teacher was not holding back, forcing the captain into a tough position.
“But that’s not the case. The other houses are simply too good this time.” Captain Alpha was the best student aside from Eon and Elle.
He was so good that his achievements would have made headlines on the mainland, but he was overshadowed by the others around him.
His skills, his strengths, his powers, his talent. He was great with everything. But, the only reason he had not been able to shine as brightly as he was right now, in this deadly battle, was simply because of all the other great people that he was surrounded by. My Virtual Library Empire (*)
Chances like these were important for people like him to come into the light. His techniques in handling the weapon, his skills in magic, his special affinity for Aether making his spells far more powerful than the ordinary Mana spells… and if that wasn’t enough, his connection with his familiar was also so good that the teacher facing him was stunned to see all these.
He could not believe it. This kind of performance was simply world-class at his age. He truly deserved to be called a model student within the academy, but… it wasn’t happening as well as it should thanks to his peers.
*
“Time… remaining?”
His mind did not work for a moment, but then the coffee that he was drinking suddenly shook up his memory and reminded him of the last few notifications that he had received after clearing the 100th floor yesterday.
“What the hell…?”
This was unexpected. Very, very unexpected.
[ “You do know something about it, don’t you? Could it be related to the tower-clear? Didn’t you finally clear the 100th floor yesterday?” ]
He had texted her before sleeping so she knew about it. And, she was right this time as well.
“Yeah… I think it has something to do with that.”
He received a notification that the game was going to go under maintenance after he cleared the floor. He did not think much about it since he thought that was it, that it was the end of his long journey.
He just wanted to sleep and think about all that later, but now that he was awake and his head was a little clearer, he was presented with a strange situation.
[ “Right?! I knew it had something to do with that so I called the others and told them as well! Dad was worried so I’m at my house right now… you should come here as soon as-.” ]
“No, Is. I don’t think I will be able to reach there on time.”
The time remaining was a little too short to reach her house. It was a safe place, but he knew no one would take him there under all this chaos.
The cabs weren’t going to work and everyone around the world was going to wait until the countdown ended…
“For now, wait right there. Take care of yourself for now, and wait until this countdown ends. We cannot say for certain what happens.”
For all they knew, this could very well be some kind of prank from someone so, waiting was a better option right now.
“Let me call uncle and aunty as well. I’ll call you back soon.”
He did not want to hang up the call, but he did not have any choice here. If things were really related to that tower, then this was a pretty serious matter.
[ “Alright… I’ll wait. But you take care of yourself! And be quick!” ]
If something was actually going to happen, then this place wasn’t safe. He knew he needed to move to a different place so, for now, he reassured her and disconnected the call.
Then, he looked at the strange blue screen once again…
