Chapter 1052 Island groups and division
[Eon’s POV: ]
There were around three dozen islands in the entire archipelago, most of which were small landmasses in the water. They were small places that did not have much to see, though some of these islands surely contained special structure.
There were some islands with mines of gold and magical crystals, there were some islands with dungeon-like structures, and aside from the nine main islands that were connected with one another through artificial structures, the rest were a place one could not access without unique transportation methods.
Some simply needed ships, some needed stronger ships with magical barriers due to the uniqueness of the waters, while some of these islands were around nests of dangerous sea creatures that people did not usually disturb.
Some were also protected and prohibited areas so not just anyone could enter these places.
However, the main nine islands of the archipelago were free places that anyone could access as long as they were fulfilling the requirements to be there.
And these requirements were mainly simple as one either needed to be a strong individual affiliated with some kind of merchant or mercenary group, or affiliated with the adventurers association.
Many of the places in the nine islands were dangerous but those dangerous places were always guarded by strong people trained by the Lord and handpicked by their family.
There were some unique places where no one aside from certain people were allowed, like the lighthouse before the great estate castle, and at the same time, there were many tourist attractions in these islands as well.
There were many good places to be in this place, be it this estate castle, the beaches around the various shores, the city area, the island managed by the pirates or the sailors that live most of their lives in the forest, the protected forest where one can find creatures that are very rare on the mainland, and also the various hidden places within the forests where one can reach only through rigorous tracking.
There were quite a few good places around the islands, and yet…
“Why do you think they asked those children to go to the dangerous dungeon on a distant island?”
I mean, I can understand if the parents of those people simply wanted them to experience new things or something like that, there were many useful, safe dungeons, mines, and resource areas around the island that people can access as well.
They were much less dangerous and there were also no restrictions in those places. But, instead of sending them to places like that, they instead were sending them to an actual difficult place.
“Maybe they want them to realise they aren’t anything? Like, actually see what truly strong people might be capable of?
Wouldn’t that be why they allowed them to get outside help and even assigned a supervisor to them?”
As Rein said…
“That might be true.”
It certainly could be true that the reason they asked them to go to that specific place is because they want them to experience despair.
They might even want them to see just what kind of difference there is between them and the strong people that have neither the kind of resources they do nor the kind of support that they are receiving.
“Since we have yet to find who their parents are, shouldn’t we just assume they are some rich bunch that wants to train the ones that they had picked up for their unique skills?
I mean, they all had unique skills for different things, right?”
“Hmmm…”
The one that was speaking with us had a unique skill for speaking, making him a potentially good Orator.
The two younger ones had talent in magic. They were able to handle the unique artifact used only by the talented mages that had good Mana control so, they definitely had the potential to be good mages… though, since their unique skills were not related to magic, I don’t know whether to put the two things together or not.
There is also the fact that the older ones possessed the most unique skills among the five, with one having a skill specific to ‘cleaning’ and the other having a skill that had ‘mixing’ ability.
‘Now… since we don’t know much about them, we didn’t really get to know much about their unique skills. Even with her eyes, we only found out that those skills were something that grew according to individual growth.’
So, these five had potential at least that could be applied in various fields.
Though, since the fields that they can be applied to were so vast, we couldn’t really pinpoint why the parents of these people might have chosen them.
‘Also, we found out something new after spying on the knight.’
The number of adventurers that the six of them managed to hire was no less than a dozen. Which was no small number.
Also, the knight that was looking after the children wasn’t actually affiliated with them, as Rein’s eyes had seen.
Instead, he was hired by someone connected with them. Someone that seemed normal at first glance but, in fact, was an Origin skill user of at least <Advanced> level.
It was only a step behind the ‘master’ rank that grandpa Zhen had, but still, the difference between an intermediate and an advanced origin user was no less than the difference between a [Rank-5] and a [Rank-6] knight… comparing the advanced rank with a master would be the same as comparing a (tier-7) and an archmage.
“How do you feel about this, Rein? I don’t really feel like anything is going to mess up, but I have this weird feeling that something is going to happen.”
After following around the knight and the person that was instructing the knight, though we did not find the identity of the parents, we did find out the scale of this dungeon raid.
“I think… This is troublesome. And that’s exactly why we should go.”
Since we did not have much to do this week anyway, we decided to go on this dungeon run by ourselves.
We already told the others in the house we would be going out tomorrow and about this whole situation and though the others were curious, they did not bother us too much.
They decided to look into the situation discreetly by themselves. And push any plans that they might have had for tomorrow.
Also, since the two of us were going into a dungeon, they wanted to see how this might be and had asked us to record everything for them, so we will have to do that as well.
That aside though, there are around six damage dealers including three knights of [Rank-3] and four (tier-3) mages, three [Rank-4] tanks or shield knights, and around a few <2-Wing> healers and alchemists.
There were also Three captains of three different teams: A (tier-6) mage, a [Rank-5] knight, the same that we had followed, and the origin user that we ended up meeting… though, the children did not seem to be aware of the fact that that person was joining them.
We were able to hear their conversation, so we know he will be following us secretly, so I’ll have to keep an eye out for him as well.
Also, the island that we will be going to is located in a nearby area which, thankfully, can be reached with a boat.
However, since that dungeon is there, it is a highly restricted area which not just anyone can access.
Your next journey awaits at empire
‘However, we saw the permits that they had before accepting the mission. So they are in the clear.’
With the five of them, two of us, around fifteen party members, and three (two) leaders, we will have quite the numbers to challenge a dungeon of that scale.
“The forces should be sufficient…”
The snake monsters in the dungeon are not that difficult to deal with but the reason that the dungeon is so dangerous is because of the poison that the snakes produce.
The presence of healers and alchemists both will help us deal with those creatures, and with enough supplies, we should be able to clear the dungeon within a day as well…
“But then, why is that person hiding his identity?”
The third captain that was going to accompany us, the Origin Advanced user, did not check up on them directly, so maybe he was someone directly related to them.
But he was coming with them and just that much might give away his identity…
‘He did not have any disguise or concealment items on him, which was strange actually.’
The origin skill he had also was not something simple.
Neither of us could tell much about it from just the name and the name of the branch skills.
“Eon… don’t you think you’re overthinking this? We will find out tomorrow anyway.”
“Well, that’s true as well.”
It was a fine night right now.
We were enjoying each other’s company in our room.
So, thinking about things that we don’t really know much about is unnecessary.
“Well, then let’s see how it goes tomorrow.”
We will have to wake up early tomorrow so we have already prepared everything we might need.
We will meet up with the complete group tomorrow as well, so we first do the introductions, aboard the ship and get to the island, and discuss our strategy while we are onboard.
“Yes~. Let’s leave it for tomorrow and continue what we were doing~.”
We were in the middle of something fun already. She was the one doing something right now so, since I was tied up, the only thing I could do right now was to contemplate tomorrow.
‘We might have decided to join this raid out of boredom, but dungeons were unpredictable places.’
Since I have this weird feeling, I’m pretty sure there is a great possibility of something weird happening.
‘And it is because of this feeling… that I cannot focus on this pretty Lady painting a sunrise on my body…’
