Chapter 31 Kill, New Armed
Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Kill, New Armed
In the game, a Mad Beastman would unleash a highly damaging series of burst attacks in its final, dying phase. A single mistake could result in the player taking a hit and losing a massive amount of Durability, or even being instantly killed.
Feng Yin waited with bated breath, rapidly recalling the Mad Beastman’s burst Techniques in his mind.
"ROAR!"
With a deafening roar, the Blood Flame on the Mad Beastman’s body surged.
Stealing Step!
The moment the Mad Beastman roared, Feng Yin immediately dodged to the side. A powerful gale swept past as the ground was continuously trampled and shattered. Shrouded in a bloody Light, the Mad Beastman brushed right past him!
It crashed heavily into the pile of soldiers’ corpses.
CRASH!
Like a bowling ball striking pins, numerous bodies were sent flying and shattered, raining down a shower of blood. Feng Yin had no time to dwell on this horrifying sight. Instead, he fixed his gaze tightly on the massive figure amidst the rain of blood!
At some point, the Mad Beastman had already turned around, suddenly leaping up from the pile of corpses.
Feng Yin immediately used Stealing Step again!
The Mad Beastman descended from the sky, its thick legs shattering the earth.
BOOM!
Had Feng Yin been even half a second slower, his Armor would likely have been trampled out of shape, and his Durability would have dropped by at least eight points.
Without a moment’s pause upon landing, the Mad Beastman locked its scarlet eyes on Feng Yin, who had dodged to the side. Its injured right arm seemed completely devoid of pain. Amidst the gathering bloody Light, the entire arm turned the color of Blood Flame.
In an instant, it leaped once more, performing a front flip that brought it right above Feng Yin’s head! Its gigantic silhouette enveloped Feng Yin. Following the momentum of the flip, its arm smashed down fiercely!
Stealing Step!
The third Stealing Step allowed Feng Yin to dodge five meters away.
A deafening EXPLOSION rang out.
The giant, blood-colored arm had already smashed into the spot where Feng Yin had just been standing. Sand and stones flew in all directions, and spiderweb-like cracks spidered across the ground!
However, having dodged in advance, Feng Yin did not stop moving. He immediately lunged forward!
Sure enough, in the very next instant, the Mad Beastman let out an explosive roar after its ground-smash failed to land! Amidst an invisible Fluctuation, a massive amount of Blood Flame erupted within a five-meter radius centered on the Mad Beastman!
Had Feng Yin not anticipated this and moved beforehand, he would have already been struck by the Blood Flame!
It was Four consecutive, high-power burst attacks with absolutely no pause in between. The damage of each strike was higher than the last. Especially that final Blood Flame eruption—if it had hit, it would have caused upwards of ten points of Durability damage, which could have almost wiped out his Armor’s Durability in one fell swoop.
Unfortunately for the Mad Beastman, this ultimate killing move was used against Feng Yin, who had already farmed it countless times in the "game." Although the specific attack intervals and combat style differed slightly in reality, the Techniques used and its attack habits remained exactly the same.
"It’s over!" Feng Yin thought.
He quickly scrambled up from the ground, gripping his sword with both hands as he sprinted toward the Mad Beastman, which had just finished its burst.
At this moment, after utilizing some kind of Secret Technique to achieve that formidable burst, the Mad Beastman was truly overdrawn and had slumped into a paralyzed state. It knelt weakly on the ground, though the gaze it fixed on Feng Yin remained full of brutality.
Feng Yin calmly raised the Canfeng Sword and thrust it fiercely into its heart.
He withdrew the sword, and blood sprayed out.
The Mad Beastman coughed up blood continuously before collapsing weakly onto the ground. A wisp of black mist rose.
[Banished the "Filthy Mad Beastman." Gained 50 units of Spirituality.]
It was over...
Feng Yin sheathed the Canfeng Sword back onto his back. The White Crow descended from the sky and landed on his shoulder.
"An absolutely magnificent battle," it said.
"Perfect, the emotional support is fully maxed out," Feng Yin thought dryly.
He squatted down and reached into the Mad Beastman’s corpse, which was rapidly turning into ashes, to rummage around, but he couldn’t find anything. Sure enough, just like when he played the game, this kind of "story boss" didn’t have any drops.
Correspondingly... Feng Yin looked toward an extinguished campfire next to a pile of corpses in the distance. He stood up, quickly walked over to the target, and pulled out the Life Wedge embedded in the campfire.
CRACK!
Amidst an illusory snapping sound, the Life Wedge he pulled out transformed into golden light and merged into his Armor.
Subsequently, streams of information popped up before Feng Yin’s eyes.
[Objective completed. Liberation Level increased by 1%.]
[Reward: Secondary Hand Armament — Heavy Arm Armor.]
[Returning shortly.]
The next second, endless gray mist covered his vision.
...
Late into the night.
Lying on the wooden bed, Feng Yin opened his eyes and sat up. His first reaction was to look at the door and window. The door was propped shut with a table, and moonlight faintly seeped through the curtains.
The next moment, familiarly formatted information flashed across his eyes.
[Successfully returned. You have harvested 50 Spirituality during this journey...]
"I’m back," Feng Yin thought.
He let out a soft sigh of relief. Next, he opened his Armor panel, ready to check his gains from this trip.

Every time a Life Wedge was pulled out, the Armor’s Liberation Level would increase by one point. Correspondingly, the Four basic Values of the Armor would also increase by one point. Currently, the Liberation Level was thirteen, and the Four basic Attributes had also reached thirteen. Coupled with the base enhancement of the Wolf’s Badge, they now sat at sixteen.
Beyond that, there were fifty points of Spirituality and a crucial new piece of equipment—the Heavy Arm Armor.
Indeed, as a "story boss," even though it wouldn’t drop items based on probability like the Demon Wolf, it would grant a "special reward" after the player cleared the stage. This reward was fixed, meaning it was a guaranteed acquisition tied to a specific game mechanic.
This Heavy Arm Armor was precisely a "new mechanic."
The Canfeng Sword represented the Armor’s melee Armament. The Simple Arm Crossbow represented its Remote Armament. And this Heavy Arm Armor represented its "Auxiliary Armament."
Its most primitive and foundational effect was manifested in the game as—Block. In other words, after obtaining this Heavy Arm Armor, the player could control the Armor to Block the opponent’s attacks, thereby completely negating damage or drastically applying Damage Reduction.
If he had this Armament while fighting the Mad Beastman, he could have saved uses of Stealing Step during certain attacks and opted to tank them head-on with the Arm Armor instead.
It was just that...
Feng Yin’s thoughts raced. "In the game, the Damage Reduction mechanic of this Arm Armor’s Block is calculated based on timing. The more optimal the timing of the Block, the more damage is mitigated. A precise Block can even negate damage entirely."
"But this is reality now... I definitely have to consider physical factors like the angle of the Block and my own ability to deflect the force..."
Thinking of this, he stood up from the bed. After ensuring the curtains were drawn tight enough, he chose to manifest the Armor.
"Henshin! (Just kidding.)"
In an instant, a full-body, pitch-black Armor surfaced on his skin. Compared to traditional ancient Armor, it looked noticeably more ferocious and magical, as if it were forged from the carapace of some mysterious creature. The Helmet portion resembled a vicious wolf’s head, and the furry cape behind him fluttered without any wind, as if it were a living thing.
This was exactly the Armor’s Wolf Slaughter Form.
Next, he looked at his left arm. With a slight shift in his mind, the Simple Arm Crossbow instantly popped out and finished loading. The following moment, he issued another mental command.
The Arm Crossbow swiftly expanded. Following a transformation that felt intensely mechanical yet completely defied the science of mass-energy conversion, it turned into a layer of Heavy Armor that entirely encased his left arm, shoulder included.
An Armor over his Armor!
