Chapter 723: Chapter 693: Returning Alone (Part 1)

In response to Little Fatty’s question, Lin Xinghai had no reason to hide it, so he simply nodded. “That’s right.”

Little Fatty had expected to be stunned by the answer. But he found his shock lasted only a moment before turning to calm. He even felt it was to be expected.

The reason was simple: the one who said it was Lin Xinghai.

“Boss, I know you’re strong, but you still have to be careful, especially of those black figures.” In the end, Little Fatty didn’t try to dissuade him, only offering a word of caution.

“Right.” Lin Xinghai nodded.

Although he’d received news from Zuo Wenyao that only one of these black figures had infiltrated and that Zuo Wenyao had already killed it, no one could guarantee such intelligence was one hundred percent accurate.

Therefore, Lin Xinghai didn’t dare let his guard down. Of course, that didn’t mean he should be overly fearful, either.

After all, even if there was still a Shadow Demon on the battlefield, it would have to find him before it could pose a threat.

He was acting alone and had incredible mobility. Even if the enemy got word and rushed over, he would be long gone by the time they arrived.

What’s more, he would kill any Mutated Zombie he encountered along the way, severing the enemy’s “intelligence network.” They could forget about finding him on this vast battlefield.

Once he rendezvoused with Zuo Wenyao and the other Divine Demon Realm experts, he wouldn’t need to worry anymore.

Soon, the two of them arrived at a corner of the forward base.

The Hongyu Group was quite influential. As soon as their people arrived, the military immediately cleared out a building of over a hundred square meters to serve as their dedicated repair workshop.

Of course, the Hongyu Group team wasn’t getting a free ride. After repairing Lin Xinghai’s equipment, they were required to stay and assist the military’s logistics department.

When Little Fatty led Lin Xinghai inside, the dozen or so members of the repair team were bustling with activity, gathered around a Legendary Level Mecha.

“Young Master Ye, you’re here!” The person in charge spotted Little Fatty and immediately greeted him with great enthusiasm.

“Great work, everyone!” Little Fatty said politely before quickly asking, “Is the equipment I asked you to repair ready?”

“All fixed.” The repair team leader had someone bring the items over at once.

He explained, “This Gauss Rifle wasn’t severely damaged. The barrel was just slightly bent. We’ve straightened it and recalibrated its accuracy, so it’s ready for normal use now.”

“Additionally, here’s the Armor-Piercing Gun we borrowed for you. It’s made from a sufficiently hard, Third Level special Alloy. Its greatest feature, however, is its superior piercing power.”

“Of course, as you mentioned, Young Master, Lin here is proficient with Thunder Element abilities. So, while trying to avoid altering the gun’s frame, we used Rare Metals that enhance the Thunder Attribute to fashion two new grips. When he unleashes his lightning abilities, holding either of these grips will provide a certain degree of amplification.”

“Naturally, since this was a temporary modification, the amplification isn’t huge—only about 5%.”

Lin Xinghai was merely impressed by their efficiency when they presented the repaired Gauss Rifle. ‘They’re fast,’ he thought. But the Armor-Piercing Gun they brought out was a genuine surprise.

To find such a perfect solution and complete the modifications in such a short time… both their efficiency and their skills were absolutely first-class.

After finishing his explanation of the Armor-Piercing Gun, the repair team leader had someone bring over the final piece of equipment.

“Young Master Ye, per your instructions, we did our best to enhance this suit of Battle Armor.”

“However, limited by the armor’s size and the tight schedule, it was difficult to make any major alterations. In the end, we were only able to install two miniature Superpower Amplifiers inside to work in tandem with the original.”

“This way, the Battle Armor’s Superpower amplification is increased from a 2-fold boost to a 5-fold boost.”

“Of course, after these modifications, the Energy consumption will be much higher than normal. Furthermore, this Battle Armor uses a composite power source that requires a Mutated Elemental Crystal to even start up. I’m afraid the per-hour combat costs will be very high,” the repair team leader explained carefully.

As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Xinghai eagerly took the suit of Battle Armor, put it on, and gave it a quick test.

The results were just as the repair team leader had described: his Superpower was truly enhanced fivefold. This meant that under normal circumstances, he could now envelop a full ten people with his Superpower, putting them all into a Time Acceleration State.

In addition, the range of his Superpower increased from 10 meters to 50 meters.

Lin Xinghai was genuinely thrilled by such a massive improvement.

“Excellent. I’m very satisfied.” Lin Xinghai smiled and shook the man’s hand. He then gave Little Fatty a few instructions about arrangements for the Xinghai Squad before quickly departing.

Watching Lin Xinghai’s departing figure and recalling the attitude he had just shown, Little Fatty couldn’t help but smile as well.

He looked at the repair team leader before him. He’d heard that the man was highly skilled, but because he wasn’t popular within the corporation and was a bit of a loner, he had never been given a position of importance.

But now, Little Fatty felt that sometimes, ‘having solid skills is all that really matters’.

“Old Fang, your performance this time has truly made me see you in a new light! I heard you’ve been wanting to compete for the Mecha workshop director position. While I don’t have the authority to make high-level appointments within the corporation, creating a new deputy director position for the workshop is well within my power.”

Little Fatty’s first sentence stunned Captain Fang, freezing him in place. Some of the other members of his squad were so shocked they nearly dropped their tools.

Little Fatty paid no mind to their reactions and continued, “The rest of your repair team also performed well. For this advancement mission, I’ll issue you all a bonus of one million Huaxia Coins afterward.”

After saying his piece, Little Fatty hummed a little tune and walked away.

It was only after Little Fatty’s figure had vanished that the people in the workshop seemed to snap out of their daze. The room erupted. Some cheered, some shouted—everyone was ecstatic.

After a long moment of silence, Captain Fang spoke up. “Alright, look sharp, everyone. Finish repairing this Legendary Level Mecha, and then we’ll apply to return to headquarters.”

The other squad members were confused when they heard this. “Captain, shouldn’t we be seizing this opportunity to put on a good show? Why would we go back?”

“What do you know?” Captain Fang retorted. “Look at the Young Master’s attitude. That guy, Lin, holds a much higher place in his heart than we ever imagined.”

“Don’t forget, he has a custom Legendary Level Mecha on order from our corporation. It’s in the final stages of completion and is currently being calibrated. If we really want to win the Young Master’s favor, perfecting that Mecha is more important than anything else.”

“I’ve said it before: the power system design for that Legendary Level Mecha has some issues. I couldn’t be bothered to say anything about it before, but things are different now. I’m going to give it my all and tune this Legendary Level Mecha to its absolute peak condition.”

“Oh, and Xiaowu, as soon as we get back, I want you to organize the data. Specifically, I want two sets of reports: the data from before we started working on the calibration, and the data after. That way, the Young Master will know exactly what we accomplished,” Captain Fang said decisively.

The others’ eyes lit up when they heard this.
