Invincible through Touching Corpses
Chapter 704 - 674: Repel (Part 1)
After the Combat Robots and Attack Drones appeared, they didn’t head straight for their target. Instead, they fanned out, surrounding the Mecha formation.
Little Fatty had come incredibly well-prepared this time. He had brought a staggering 5,000 second-generation Combat Robots, and even more Attack Drones—a full 10,000 of them.
When they emerged, their sheer numbers were overwhelming. As they encircled the convoy, they instantly formed a massive barrier, shielding all the Mecha behind them.
The formations of both the robots on the ground and the drones in the sky were extremely tight. It was nearly impossible for the Hunter to break through and attack the Mecha directly.
Of course, the Hunter paid these little gadgets no mind. After all, with its physical resilience, it would even dare to ram straight into a Mecha.
The Hunter closed in rapidly, charging straight through the barrage of fire unleashed by the robots and drones.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A series of massive explosions erupted, one after another, as if the Hunter wasn’t crashing into robots, but barrels of dynamite.
In fact, that was an accurate assessment. Little Fatty had installed High-Energy Bombs in all of them, both the Combat Robots and the Attack Drones.
So, aside from their combat functions, they were essentially a swarm of mobile bombs.
Even for a Fourth Level Hunter comparable to the Divine Demon Realm, it was impossible to ignore a bombardment of High-Energy Bombs. It might not care about one or two, but hundreds or even thousands? That was a different story.
Moreover, the combined number of Combat Robots and Attack Drones here reached a terrifying 15,000. If the High-Energy Bombs from all of them were detonated at once, forget a Level 4 Hunter—even a Fourth Level Death Claw probably couldn’t withstand it.
So, after enduring more than fifty consecutive self-detonations, the Hunter finally reached its limit and was forced to temporarily retreat.
Under normal circumstances, it wouldn’t have retreated so quickly. But after the initial ambush, more than half of its Original Force had been consumed, and its reserves were now running low.
Of course, that alone wouldn’t have been enough to force its retreat. The problem was that, under the control of an AI system, the High-Energy Bombs always detonated at the most opportune moments.
The goal of these detonations wasn’t to inflict maximum damage on the Hunter. Instead, they were timed to explode the instant before it reached them. The Combat Robots would even adjust their angles as they blew up, ensuring the shockwaves blasted the Hunter head-on.
The result was that, in addition to taking damage, the Hunter was also hit by powerful, oncoming shockwaves that created immense resistance, even knocking its body backward.
Under these conditions, quickly breaking through their defensive line became much more difficult, so it retreated out of instinct.
Hunters were never creatures that favored frontal assaults. They excelled at using their high mobility to constantly seek opportunities for surprise attacks.
Normally, this tactic would have been flawless. Unfortunately for the Hunter, it had run into the Xinghai Squad—and the Xinghai Squad had Liu Miaomiao.
So, when the Hunter noticed its Life Force was still draining away, it suddenly realized it had made a foolish decision.
Its usual tactics for dealing with prey were completely useless here.
Now, every second it spent circling its prey, its body grew weaker. The situation had forced it, a natural ambusher, to become a direct assailant.
ROAR!
A roar, full of both fury and helplessness, erupted from the Hunter’s mouth. Having accepted the reality of its situation, it steeled itself and attacked again.
But this time, it was no longer holding back. It was starting to fight for its life.
As the Hunter roared, its previously weakening aura began to skyrocket. The muscles in its once slender-looking legs started to bulge, becoming thick and powerful.
BOOM!
The Hunter stomped on the ground, and a large section of the hard concrete pavement caved in. Its figure instantly blurred into an afterimage as it charged toward the Mecha Brigade once more.
Liu Miaomiao had been continuously weakening the Hunter with her Superpower. During their brief exchange, the Hunter’s Speed had already dropped from an initial 60,000 points to just over 50,000, and it was still falling at a terrifying rate.
The more perceptive members of the Xinghai Squad could even, with the aid of optical instruments, barely keep up with the Hunter’s movements.
But now, as the Hunter unleashed its full power, forget about them—even Liu Miaomiao, a Marrow Tempering Realm expert, couldn’t follow its movements with her eyes.
The only saving grace was that everyone in the Xinghai Squad had mastered the Investigation Technique. They could use their Perception Power in place of their eyes to observe their surroundings, which was the only way they could barely track the Hunter’s location.
Even so, they were all horrified. According to their instruments, the Speed the Hunter had just unleashed reached a terrifying 100,000 points.
Its Speed had nearly doubled.
They knew that once Mutated Zombies from the Abyssal Plane reached the Third Level, they gained special abilities.
Take Hunters, for example. Their special ability was a temporary boost to their Speed, which the squad had seen before when they encountered Third Level Hunters.
But only now did they truly understand how immense the gap between the Third and Fourth Level was.
A Third Level Hunter’s Speed boost was only a few thousand points—not even 10,000.
A boost of that magnitude was nothing to Lin Xinghai, which had led them to subconsciously underestimate Hunters.
But now, this Hunter, at full power, had increased its Speed by a staggering 50,000 points, catching everyone completely by surprise.
At this speed, the defensive line of Combat Robots and Attack Drones was being torn apart at a visible rate.
In less than two seconds, the Hunter had powered through the self-detonations of more than 200 Combat Robots and finally burst into the middle of the Mecha formation.
It was no longer unscathed. The keratinous layer of its skin was completely charred, and wounds had even appeared on its upper body.
This was the price it paid to break through.
But in that moment, the Hunter’s eyes were piercingly bright. And brighter still were the Sharp Claws it had already raised to strike.
SWISH!
Infused with Original Force, the Hunter’s attacks were no longer merely physical—they now included Energy Attacks.
As it swung its Sharp Claws, a phantom claw projection—even larger than its own body—materialized from thin air and cleaved a Mecha in front of it clean in two.
